Chapter 20: Like It's Her Birthday

“MAX!!!” Alex shouted, right near my ear.
I jumped and sat up in my bunk, smacking my head on it. “Jesus,” I said, rubbing my forehead. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Everyone has been waiting for you to get up! We’re so excited, Max,” he explained.
“But you didn’t have to scare me, you dick,” I replied.
He pouted out his bottom lip. “Come on. Don’t be like that. I’m just trying to make your birthday special.”
Suddenly, something clicked in my brain. “Oh. I guess it is. I’ll get up, just give me a minute.”
He walked back out to the main part of the bus while I composed myself and joined them. Everyone was sitting out there, smiles on their faces. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAXINE!!!” they greeted.
I smiled at them all politely, but I was still a little grumpy about my rude awakening. “Thanks guys.”
“When we get to the next town, we’re all going out to dinner someplace nice and you’ll get your gifts then,” Matt explained.
“Wait til you see what I got you,” Jack mentioned. “You’ll love it.”
“I’m scared now,” I laughed.
I plopped down beside Alex on the couch and he threw his arm around my shoulders, leaning close to whisper in my ear. “I’ve got a lot planned for us tonight. I hope you’re ready.”
I blushed and bit my lip in response. It was my 20th birthday, but I certainly didn’t feel any older than before. This was also the first time I would be having a real birthday celebration since I was a kid. My mom always made me french toast and had given me a gift on this occasion, but that was about it. It was kind of nice to have people fuss over my birthday.
We reached the next city in just a few more hours, the boys’ show not being until the next night. Matt ordered everyone to dress up for my birthday dinner, and soon enough we were heading to some fancy restaurant. It wasn’t quite as upscale as the place I first met Cassadee, but it was still really nice. I wore a blue strapless dress, wanting to look my best.
We were seated at a large table near the back so that everyone, including the crew, could fit. I sat near Alex, Rian, Zack, Matt, Vinny, and Jack, which made the dinner conversation lively. We all ate and talked until Matt decided that it was to give me my presents, though he insisted on going last.
I mostly got books, which I didn’t mind since they were ones I hadn’t read. Alex got me Peter Pan, Zack got me The Grapes of Wrath because he said it sounded smart, and Rian gave me Great Expectations, which ended up being from both him and Cassadee. Finally, it was Jack’s turn.
He handed me a small square wrapped in bright green wrapping paper and a red bow on top of it. “OPEN IT, MAXINE!!!” he shouted, only to shushed my Matt.
“Okay,” I grinned. “Chill out.” He waited eagerly as I began tearing the paper. All Time Low’s logo appeared and I looked at it confused before laughing at realizing what it was.
“Do you like it?” he asked.
“You bought me one of your own band’s CDs? That’s awesome. Thank you,” I said.
“Well, technically, I didn’t buy it. I stole it from the merch table at the show from the other night,” he said.
“I was wondering why my inventory numbers were off,” Vinny mentioned.
“It was stolen? That makes it so much better,” I replied.
“Okay, guys,” Matt cut in. “It’s my turn.” He handed me a rectangular wrapped thing that felt like another book. I quickly unwrapped it to find a copy of The Catcher in the Rye.
“This is cool, thanks,” I said.
“Open up the front cover,” he grinned.
I raised an eyebrow but opened it to find three signatures I couldn’t help but recognize. I gasped. “You got Green Day to sign it?!”
My uncle’s smile grew wider. “I did, in fact.”
I got up from the table and hugged him graciously. “Thank you so much. This is like, the best gift I’ve ever gotten.”
Jack let out a groan. “Thank a lot, Matt. You owned us all in gift giving.”
“Hey, she’s my niece. I’m supposed to spoil her a little,” he replied.
I thanked everyone over and over again as the night progressed, giving them all hugs as we returned to the hotel. Alex grasped my hand as we made our way to his room. I took off my heels and sat on the bed, him still next to me. “Thanks again, Alex,” I said. “It was easily the best birthday I’ve ever had.”
“It’s not over yet,” he grinned, leaning forward to kiss me deeply. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he slipped his tongue in my mouth. I let go to begin pushing his jacket off his shoulders, tossing it to the floor immediately. He moved to kissing down my neck slowly as I worked on the buttons of his dress shirt. “Someone’s eager.”
“Shut up,” I said. “You’re the one who put the idea in my head this morning.” His shirt slipped off, pooling at the foot of the bed without a noise. Alex’s lips eagerly found mine again as he reached behind me to tug the zipper of my dress down. I helped him pull it off of my body, and he laid me down on the bed his kisses traveling down once again.
It wasn’t long before both of us were completely naked, and he caught my lips with his. He slid inside of me and I gasped, still not used to the feeling yet. His thrusts were slow at first before they gradually became faster and sloppier. Our moans echoed through the room as we both climaxed, Alex collapsing beside me on the bed.
“Happy birthday,” he panted.
I grinned. “Thanks.”
There was a pause. “I love you, Max.”
“I love you too, Alex.”

Notes

Okay first off: I feel so fucking clever because I just realized I made Maxine's 20th birthday be the 20th chapter.

Second: I WROTE THE SMUT. NOT MY FRIEND, BUT ME. And you know what? I want you all to bash the shit out of it. Tell me every little thing I did wrong, because I would like to improve at writing smut.

Thank you!

So I just read this story, all in one sitting, and seriously loved it. You're a really great writer. :)
Alex and Max's relationship was so sincere, and even though the end was kind of surprising, I found it perfect in a way. Like one of my favorite endings I've ever read to a fic, actually. Instead of very cliche it more so fit the pieces together, if that makes sense.
I really loved it. If you ever choose to maybe rewrite this story, or perhaps do a sequel to it, I will definitely read. I looked on your profile and unfortunately you don't seem to have anymore Alex/OC centered stories. But if you ever write a new one of those, feel free to let me know as well.
One of the better stories I've read in a while, great job with it. :)

@Billie Joe Gaskarth You're lovely. Thank you <3

No leave it as it is, you may think it can be improved but so can everything, start a new one then you can look back and see how you've developed as a writer :) just personal opinion though ;)
