All I Ever Wanted

Chapter Thirteen

Three days was not enough time for anything. Alex was on my mind constantly throughout the days, and I was anxious. I hadn't seen him at all either, and I think he was avoiding me, because he wouldn't pick up his phone.

"That fucker!" I exclaimed as I threw my phone onto the couch in my parent's living room.

"What's wrong, sweetheart?" My mom asked as she waltzed into the room. I sighed and sat down next to my phone, picking it up and turning it around in my hands.

"It's nothing," I muttered as I pulled my eyebrows together and shook my head. She sighed.

"It's always a boy, isn't it? Noah?" She asked. I looked up at her, and I shook my head.

"No.. no we broke up," I said, "twice."

"Hunny," my mom said as she walked over to me, "if he's ignoring you, he's probably not worth it. If he really liked you, he'd answer immediately." She sat down next to me, putting an arm around my shoulder. I moved so I was facing her, and I took a deep breath.

I told her about Alex. I told her everything. I told her about our first date and how we'd met; how we both stumbled across our partners sucking face with each other. I told her about our first kiss and how we'd gotten drunk and had sex. I told her about the fact that Alex is in a band, and I told her about the night we went to the park and spilled our guts to each other. I told her how I'd gotten back together with Noah, and about the fight Alex and I had at the flea market, how he'd kissed me there as well. And I told her about the stunt I pulled where I left for not even a day and bumped into Jack and Alex. Then I told her about arriving at Noah's and meeting his girlfriend, Rachel and how I stormed out of his house with a slam of the door. I told her about calling Alex and telling him I loved him, only to have him hang up on me and then ignore me. I basically spilled my guts out to my mom, and I don't usually do that.

"Hunny, it's gonna be fine," my mom cooed. I was crying, and I didn't even know why. I took a deep breath, and my phone rang, and I scrambled to answer it.

"Hello?" I asked with a sniff. You could tell I was crying just by the sound of my voice.

"Lizzy? Are you crying?" It was Alex. I wiped under my eyes, and my mom stood up and left, giving me some privacy.

"Why have you been ignoring me again?" I asked, completely blowing off his question.

"Is that why you're upset? Lizzy, I'm in a band. I'm constantly busy. I just got done with two interviews. I can't just pause everything to answer my phone," Alex said. I sniffed again.

"Alex, it's not that," I said.

"Then what is it, babe?" He asked gently, making my heart flutter.

"Alex... I just... I love you, alright? I just love you," I said. I heard him sigh, making me think I said something wrong.

"Where are you? What's the address?" He asked. I gave it to him, and he hung up.

There was a knock on the door twenty-five minutes later, and I got up to answer it. Alex stepped over the threshold, and I closed the door behind him.

"Alex-" he grabbed me and pressed a finger against my lips to shush me. I looked up at him, watching as he slowly leaned down, removing his finger from my lips.

"This must be Alex!" My mom exclaimed with a clap of her hands. Alex stopped what he was doing, and he released me. I grabbed his hand though, and I pulled him forward.

"Yeah. Mom, Alex, Alex, my mom," I said quickly. Alex smiled at her, and she returned it with a shake of his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Palmer," Alex said.

"Please, call me Francine," she said. She turned to go finish dinner, and I looked up at Alex.

"I'm sorry," I muttered, releasing his hand and heading up the stairs to my old room. He followed, and I lead him in. I closed the door, locking it just in case.

"So..." Alex said as he sat down on my bed. I just wanted to rip his clothes off, but I knew I couldn't.

"What?" I asked, encouraging him to say something.

"Lisa and I are back together, and I'm seriously thinking of proposing," Alex said, and my heart shattered.

"You can't be serious. This... this has to be a joke," I said.

"You got back together-"

"BUT HE DIDN'T PROPOSE! HE FUCKING CHEATED ON ME ALEX HOW COULD YOU?" I yelled, digging my fingernails into the palms of my hands.

"Elizabeth-"

"I've told you how I feel and you pull this shit on me!? What the hell is wrong with you!?" I asked. Alex stood up, and he towered over me. I backed up until I hit the door, and I cowered under him, putting my arms up over my face because I seriously thought he was going to hit me. But, he grabbed my arms and pushed them apart, pinning them up against the wall. He pressed his body against my own, my breathing becoming heavy as I glared at him.

"I hate you. I fucking hate you!" I yelled, struggling to get out of his grip. But, he pinned me tighter.

"What is going on up here!?" I heard the gruff voice of my father ask. Alex's grip on my arms loosened, and I pushed him off of me, making him stumble and fall on his ass.i yanked the door open, and my father entered the room. Now, my father wasn't some skinny short dude. My dad was built, and he was scary when mad. I rubbed my arms, watching as my dad eyed them.

"Did he hurt you?" He asked me, and my eyes filled with tears as I nodded. Alex was strong, and I wouldn't doubt it if I had bruises by tomorrow. Asked pathetically tried to get away, but my dad grabbed the back of his jacket and pulled him up off the floor.

"You so much as touch my daughter again I will not hesitate to kick your scrawny fucking ass! Hear me!?" My dad yelled in Alex's ear as he pushed him out of my room. I followed at a safe distance, watching as Alex was thrown outside, literally. My dad shut the door and locked it, walking over to me and wrapping me up in a gentle hug.

~~

When I got home two days later, I flike complete shit. Alex wasn't calling, answering, or tweeting. He was completely silent. All up until two weeks later when I saw his first tweet. My eyes filled with tears. He'd gotten engaged. I closed my laptop and tossed it aside. There was no point in trying anymore. An engagement ring sealed the deal. He was officially off the market.

I just stopped caring. I stayed in bed everyday, not moving, not doing anything. I was a vegetable. The only times I moved were to go to the bathroom, but after that I just went back to bed. What was the point?

Alex would never want to be with me. I wasn't a model, I wasn't an actress. I wasn't a girl that guys stared at as I walked down the street.

But what hit me the hardest was the fact that he'd said he'd wanted to be with me, but when wanted him too, all of a sudden he wasn't interested.

What was I supposed to do?

Notes

YOU GUYS THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO GET TOGETHER.

YOU WANT THEM TOGETHER SO BAD, DON'T YOU

I don't... not yet at least. :)

Comments

Since I checked out your other story, I stumbled across your profile again and I decided to check this one out as well, and I really like what you have of it so far. I'm bummed to see it was never finished, though. :( It's kind of sporadic with events, but I was able to follow the plot line and am happy they finally got together. But with these two, drama still seems on the horizon, lol. Or maybe not; a simple chapter wrap-up could even suffice. I think it deserves an ending though.
If you ever choose to finish this one, I will be here to read it as well. :)
