Pets, not Slaves
Just Like the Rest Apparently
Chapter 2
"Stop!" The King declares. I look up just as two guards grab my arms, pulling the knife out of my hand and standing me up.
"This is a human who is loyal. Keep them alive." The King yells.
I watch as they pick up Mariah and carry her away, as they drag me with her. The crowd boos as the King climbs down from his throne and walks out of sight. I groan as the guards throw us into a cell and slam the gate shut.
"Alex" Mariah chokes out. I jump to my feet and rush to her side, taking off my shirt and bandaging her wound the best I could. She floats in and out of consciousness, and all I can do is watch.
Hours later guards come, with another vampire I recognize as the king. He looks amused as they open the gate, watching me intently.
"The gate is wide open. Your not going to make a run for it?" The king asks, clearly amused. I shake my head. He orders his guards to stand back.
"Go on. I'll give you an hour head start. I bet the guards would enjoy a game." He says, but I stay put, not relieving the pressure from Mariah's wound or letting go of her hand.
The prince steps forward and kneels next to Mariah. I instinctively move in front of her. The king just glares at me.
"Do you REALLY want to do that? Not only are you just a mere human, but are you forgetting who I am?" He snarls, but yet I refuse to move.
"Oh, this one is very stubborn." The king laughs, standing up.
"Tell you what. You stay here. You can starve to death, and watch as she bleeds to death." The king states before turning to leave.
"Do you have a better option?" I yell. The king turns around, clearly amused.
"Bleeding to death is better than having some blood sucker take all your blood. And death by starvation is better than serving one of you leaches." I spit. The guards move forward, guns ready to shoot, but the king stops them. We stare eye to eye, not blinking once.
"Oh my, you will be a fun one. We have a medical care unit you worthless ape. As for you, your disrespect will be the death of you. But I always love the resistant ones. Until I snap, and then your dead, so Id be careful. Now, we leave you here or you come with me and the girl will live. Your choice." The king says, his eyes not leaving mine once.
"I'm not leaving her. And after She's healed? Being a slave is worse than being dead." I laugh. The king leans closer, only two inches away, now looking seriously pissed. I try not to shiver as his fangs show.
"You are forgetting your merely human. She's nearly worthless. And by looking at all those tattoos, you aren't worth anything after that many masters. And who are you to determine her fate?" The king growls.
"I must be of some worth, since I'm not already dead." I laugh.
"Your right. Your hide would be worth some. And also information. Now, I suggest you behave."
"She'd thank me for this." I laugh, before spitting directly in the Kings face. He wipes his face, flashing me an evil grin, before digging his fangs into Mariah.
