"So where'd Alex run off to?" Cassadee asked, sipping from her glass of lemonade as the group of four sat out back on Jacks patio.

"He went to take a shower. Should be out in a minute." Jack said, shrugging his shoulders.

Alex had slipped away once Jack had dressed and was now taking a shower upstairs in the younger's bathroom.

"Is everything okay with him? He's been seeming a bit weird lately and I know that he's closer to you than he is to the rest of us." Rian said, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend.

Jack sighed, running a hand through his already somewhat messy hair, making it stick up in odd directions that the trio across from him found slightly amusing.

But, thankfully Cass could tell something was up and she stopped her giggling almost immediately, looking at Jack with wide and worried eyes.

"Jack? Is there something wrong with Alex?" 

Jack didn't want to tell them anything, considering he was still trying to wrap his own head around it because, fucking hell, there was so much to take in. And all at once it seemed. It was also Alex's business to tell and he didn't want to harm the elder's feelings by going behind his back and telling people, even though they were all friends, that he was being abused and was taking it out on himself.

Jack raised his head, staring at his three friends. "No, nothing's alright but it's his business to tell and I'm not going to hurt his trust."

The trio looked at him, raising their eyebrows in an odd unison that Jack would've found amusing had it not been for the slightly serious situation they were in at the moment.

"Well, can you at least give us a hint? Please?" Cass begged, batting her eyelashes and pouting, making Rian scoff and gently tap her hand with a 'cut it out' being thrown her way.

"What? Like you don't wanna know what's going on?" Cass argued, leaning back in her chair.

Rian chuckled, kissing his girlfriends head. "I do, but I don't wanna push because he's right. It's not his business to tell."

"No, because it's my business." Alex's sudden voice came from behind them and the small group all jumped before turning and seeing Alex stood there in a simple blue shirt that just barely came down to his wrists and a pair of gray sweatpants that he must've stolen from Jacks drawer.

"A-Alex, how long have you been there?" Jack asked.
Alex shrugged, reaching a hand up and Jack could barely catch a glimpse of the white bandages that adorned his wrists and he hoped that the others didn't see it. Apparently, they didn't, seeing as no one asked about it.

"Long enough to know that you guys are curious about my recent behavior and to know that Jack is sweet enough to let me explain it instead of doing so himself." Alex gave the younger a small smile, which Jack eagerly returned.

Alex sighed before walking over to the small table that the four were sat at and when Jack made a move to get up and let Alex have his seat, the elder pressed him back down into the seat before settling himself on top of the younger.

Jack kissed the back of Alex's neck and wrapped his arms around the elders waist, thumbs rubbing into the boys small hipbones, his heart breaking when he felt the cuts that littered the skin there pop out.

The other three teenagers were silent as they took in the sight before them, the silence being broken by a sudden loud clap and 'whoop!' from Cass as she punched the air in enthusiasm.

Rian, Jack, Alex and Zack all gave the girl a strange look at her outburst. The only explanation she gave though was, "I knew it. I fucking knew it."

"Um, Cass, care to let us in on what you knew?"Rian asked his girlfriend.

Cass looked to the couple to her right and smiled before turning back to the others and saying, "I fucking knew they were together. I knew it. I told you."

Jack and Alex gave each other a puzzled expression before shrugging their shoulders and looking back at the trio of their friends who now seemed to be making bets.

"You said that you thought they were together. Not that they actually were so therefore, you don't win." Rian said, poking Cass's shoulder playfully.

Cass rolled her eyes. "Whatever. They're together. Right, guys?"

And just like that, all of the attention was shifted back once again to Alex and Jack. The elder shifted awkwardly in Jacks lap and the younger tightened his hold onto his best friend, knowing how he got when he was put on the spot.

Alex shrugged, leaning back so that his back rested comfortably against Jacks chest. "I-I don't know. Nothing's been made official."

"Yeah, I mean, I guess you could say we're just testing the waters before anything is made official." Jack kissed the cheek of the boy in his lap and chuckled when he saw the elder blush, a small 'awee' coming from beside them.

"So, y'all just kiss and act coupley together? But nothing's official, right?" Zack asked. 

Jack and Alex both blushed at that, thinking of what had just taken place earlier in Jacks room.

"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Alex said, sighing afterwards.

"Well, that sucks." Cass piped up. 

"Yeah, for you because the bets still on and you didn't win!" Rian exclaimed.

"Wait, what bet?" Jack asked.

Rian shrugged before answering. "The three of us kind of have this bet going on at the moment."

"And it just happens to involve us?" Jack said, chuckling at how honestly foolish his friends were sometimes.

"Yep." Was all they said, once again, in creepy unison. Jack swore they were puppets.

"You guys are weird." Jack said with another chuckle and an added eyeroll for affect before turning his head so that he could kiss Alex's lips properly.

The kiss didn't last long though as all three of their friends started making obscene noises and Rian began moaning, sounding more like a gorilla in heat instead of Alex when he's turned on, Jack should know.

The couple broke away with a fit of giggles and flicked their friends off.

"You guys are mean." Alex pouted.

"You're just mad Gaskarth because we stopped you from getting your dick sucked." Rian retorted with a snort.

"It was more action than what you were gonna get tonight, Dawson." Jack replied, smirking at his friend.

"Fuck you Barakat."

"No thank you. I have Alex and you have Cass."

Alex giggled and Jack truly had to pause for a moment as he blocked everything else out besides Alex and how truly happy he looked, surrounded by friends and smiling like there wasn't a care in the world. Like he hadn't been upset earlier and had showed Jack his cuts and scars. Jack honestly believed that Alex looked like he was truly happy. All because of him.

"I love you." Jack whispered into the elders ear when their friends were being too loud to even notice when Alex turned his head, smile still playing on his lips as he replied with the four words that still caused Jacks heart to beat faster and hands to start sweating.

"I love you, too."

SEE? UPDATES ARE GETTING BETTER! Well, somewhat... I'm having serious writers block with Dirty Work so that's why I haven't updated that or Teach You A Lesson (we're gonna call it that from now on okay) so yeah... But I actually have majority of the next chapter for DW written up so when I finish writing that I'll post it c: but yeah... I really like this chapt idk why but I do...anyways...
