I Just Want A Place In Your Heart Like You Have A Place In Mine

Chapter XII

“Now class, this worksheet is due tomorrow. So all you slackers better remember to do it.” Mrs. Miller scolded as she handed the worksheet out. None of my friends were in this class besides Jack and he sat the whole way in the back so I can’t even talk to him. I rolled up the sleeves to my leather jacket and started attacking these problems.

“Alex, principal needs to see you.” Mrs. Miller said making the class all start whispering. Jack looked at me and I just shrugged and walked out of the room. I walked down to the office and seen Tay sitting on one of the chairs.

“Tay!” Her head snapped up and her eyes widened.
“Alex!” She squealed and jumped into my arms. I laughed and hugged her back before letting go of her.
“Alright, Alexander, we put her in all of your classes so we expect you to make her feel welcome and show her to each of your classes.” The principal said .
“Yeah, whatever. Let’s roll out!” I shouted before running out of the office dragging her behind me. “No running!!”

“Long time no see.” She smiled at me as we made our way back to math class, only first period.
“I know its been forever! So much has happened.” I commented.
“How’s Evan? Lacey?”
“Evan is still Evan,” I laughed. “And Lacey is still Lacey.”
“So what classes do we have?” She asked flicking her brown hair behind her shoulder.
“Well right now we’re going to math but there is only like fifteen minutes left in the period. Then history, music, french, science, and english.”
“We have music!” Tay screamed.
‘“Yup, you’ll be good because today is my first class too but I usually have to leave for football.” I said and Tay rolled her eyes.
“You still do that fake Alex thing at school? Well, I can kinda tell by the way you're dressed.” She groaned.
“Oh shut up, we are here.” I said leading into the classroom. Once I opened the door everyone looked up and stared at Tay. I walked up in front of the whiteboard and cleared my throat. “K, peasants. This my cousin Tay she’s new here. If you are mean to her I’ll fuck you up. K we good?”
“Alex! Sit down now.” Mrs. Miller demanded. I just laughed and rolled my eyes sitting down in my seat. “Tay, honey, come back to my desk.” I turned around to see what she wanted. Tay started walking to her desk right when Jack was getting up from his. She tripped over who knows what right into Jack’s arms.
“Oh- uh, I-I’m sorry. I wasn’t l-looking where I was going.” She stuttered. She was totally flirting with him!
“It’s fine. Don’t apologize.” Jack smiled down at her lifting her out of his arms. She smiled back and walked back to the teachers desk. Jack quickly sat back down in his seat being the awkward being he is and just looked at his desk. The bell soon rang after that happened and of course Jack was one of the first people out so I couldn’t even talk to him. I walked out of the room and met Tay outside the room because she was still packing her stuff up. Once she walked out of the classroom I grabbed her arm.
“Ow!- Alex?” She asked confused shaking her arm out of my grip.
“Come on, let’s hurry so we can get History over with.”

I strolled into music class with Tay following closely behind me. I didn’t have to leave early today since the entire team skipped and I wasn’t going to throw a football at my own face. Not everyone was in the class yet but there was a few. I seen Jack and walked over to him with Tay behind me of course and sat down next to him, Tay sat on my other side so I was in the middle.

“Uh, Alex?” Jack asked confused.
“Yeah that’s me.” I laughed.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with your jock buddies and not some lame kid like me?” Jack said raising his eyebrow while pulling out a notebook.
“They aren’t here today.” I mumbled, “and you aren’t lame, Jack.” Jack just laughed and looked up seeing Tay beside me.
“Hey,” Tay smiled.
“Hey.”
“So I was wondering if y’know, you were free this weekend.” Tay giggled trying to act cute. I tried to hold in a laugh as Jack looked up from his notebook and looked at Tay raising his one eyebrow.
“Uh, no, I’m actually not.” He said apologetically. Yeah, cause’ he’s hanging out with me or what if he actually has plans with someone else?
“Oh, how about next weekend?” She asked full of hope. I let out a little laugh earning a glare from Tay Jack looked at me and smiled as he looked back at Tay.
“To be honest, it wouldn’t work out.” He said trying to be nice. Oh, just tell her already!
“Why wouldn’t it?”
“I’m gay.” Jack said awkwardly.
“And the time bomb explodes!” I shouted bursting out into fits of laughter.
“Why didn’t you tell me before I embarrassed myself like that?!” Tay said slapping my arm.
“It was funny.” I laughed causing Jack to glare at me and roll his eyes. “Oh, don’t even act like that wasn’t funny.”
“It was but it was uncalled for.” He laughed.
“Alright class! Settle in settle in.” The teacher whose name was anonymous said. “My name is Mr.Simson. So in this quarter we are going to be working on song writing. You’ll be able to pick one partner and write an original song. You have until the first day after break, that is when you will preform. There is a few guidelines though. There has to be vocals and another type of instrument. Both partners will have to help with songwriting and it can be about anything you desire. Alright, pick partners and start!”

Tay glanced at me and I nodded. I turned to see who Jack was working with and he was working with Rian’s girlfriend, Cass I think her name was.
The final bell rang and Tay and I made our way out of the building. “Where’s Evan? I still haven’t seen him.”
“Uh, he’s probably around here somewhere.” I shrugged and continued walking. “There he is!” I shouted pointing to the small figure next to his tall friend.
“Evan!” She screamed before throwing her bag at me and running up to him. One I caught up to the three, I threw her bag at her and walked with them. Tay and Evan seemed to have their own conversation so I started talking to the taller boy with glasses.
“Hey, are you okay? You kinda seemed off today.” I said to Jack.
“Yeah I’m fine,” Jack laughed. “I was just shocked to see you talking to me in school. Where’s Cassie?”
“Oh, we broke up.” I laughed scratching the back on my neck.
“What? Why?” He asked frantically.
“We just rather be friends than dating I guess.”
“Oh, well as long as you guys are happy.” Jack shrugged.
“We are, everything is cool.” I smiled at him.
“I was thinking this weekend, you could come over and I could help you with guitar but we are also putting up our Christmas tree so you could help us and stay at mine if you want.” Jack suggested. I blushed and nodded, “yeah that would be good.”
