“They out?” I asked, pulling on the last of my armor.
“Yeah.” He gasped, out of breath from all the running.
“Okay Vancett’s army should be here in an hour, I’ve sent him a message telling him that his men should wait behind the hill and that we’d send them a signal letting them know when we need them.”
“What kind of signal?” I asked.
“Up in the highest tower is a raised pit which a torch can be used to ignite a fire in it. They’ll be able to see it from where they are.”
“Which one?” I asked, glancing over outside his window.
“Ours.” He replied simply.
I knew exactly what he was talking about. It seemed like years since that night he took me to the hill and looked at the stars with me, I’d fallen asleep in his arms. Just the thought of that night made me smile and the fact that he remembered that night caused my heart to swell.
I stepped up to him and placed a soft kiss on his lips.
“I love you.” I murmured, looking up into his eyes, at those gold flecks which had been one of the first things I’d noticed about him.
“I love you too, so much.” He replied.
