We Were Born To Lose
I Would Take A Whisper If That Was All You Had To Give
As soon as the fight started, it was brutal and bloody. Within ten seconds, Alex had a cut above his eyebrow which was dripping into his eye but it was okay because Sir Gonthad had a severe cut above his ear. I’d pinched my lip between my fingers and was tugging and pulling it in nervousness. Sir Gonthad swung his sword but Alex blocked it. Alex stabbed but Gonthad dodged it. Neither of them could get the upper hand. Then suddenly Gonthad somehow hit Alex. Time went into slow-motion as I watched Alex fall to the ground. Gonthad raised his sword and plunged it down,
“ALEX!” I screamed.
Then I realized, Alex had rolled over so that the sword pierced his arm. He cried out but he was alive. Gonthad raised his sword to try and kill him again but Alex hopped up, blood pouring down his arm and dripping off his fingertips. He blocked the hit and swung his sword, hitting his thigh. Gonthad also cried out as blood poured from his leg but he didn’t let it phase him. Suddenly they both swung their swords and they clashed together, each of them baring their swords in an X with their faces only inches apart. I saw Gonthad’s lips moving but I couldn’t hear it. Obviously he’d said something that really pissed Alex off because he was breaking away and swinging, but not to injure this time…To kill. My jaw dropped and I watched as Alex fought harder than I’d ever seen him fight in my life. Gonthad seemed to be able to hold his own but he looked like he was tiring while Alex seemed to have the energy of a thousand horses. Then Gonthad swung and hit Alex’s injured leg and he fell to his knees. Alex swung hard and Gonthad’s his legs causing him to fall to his knees as well. I watched Alex punch him in the face hard enough to dazing him before grabbing his throat and saying something back before hitting him hard enough to knock him out. The second Gonthad hit the ground, the match was over. I watched as Alex fell onto his back and I raced out into the ring to him.
“Lex?” I whimpered, brushing the hair out of his face.
“I did it, Jay. You’re safe.” He smiled, exhaustion in his eyes.
“Yes you did but I wasn’t in any danger.” I reminded.
“You’re safe.” He whispered before closing his eyes and going limp in my arms.
