You're So Infamous

Alex’s Perspective

I pulled the hood of my sweatshirt over my head and pulled down my sunglasses. I jogged past the line of kids waiting to get in the venue so they wouldn’t see me and start freaking out. I found The Summer Set’s bus easily, since it was parked behind ours in the line of buses.

The door was wide open, thankfully, but that was also an occupational hazard. If any of the fans noticed this, they’d probably try to climb on or something. Whatever. I climbed on myself and followed the faint sound of Kennedy’s sobs.

“Kennedy?” I asked, when I got to the back lounge, where she was sprawled across the couch.

“Go away, Gaskarth.” She spat.

“Are you okay?” I asked stupidly.

“What do you think?”

“Right. Dumb question. Look, I’m really sorry, Kennedy. I--you already know about Dallas, but it’s not just that she fucked me over. She ruined my life. She wrecked my friendships with the guys and the band’s about to break up because of her. But that’s still no reason to treat you the way I did. I'm so sorry. She has nothing to do with you." I said honestly.

"Actually--" she began, but John and Stephen walked in.

"Where'd you go? Doors are opening soon." Stephen told her.

"It was my fault, guys. I was an ass to her and she decided not to take it." I told them.

"Well, kiss and make up already! We'll see you inside." John said and they left.

Kennedy blushed at the mention of kissing.

"Ooh, someone's thinking about kissing me!" I said in a singsongy tone.

"Watch it, Gaskarth." She warned, but she couldn't hide the smile in her voice.

"Now, what were you saying before?" I asked.

"Oh it was nothing." She said, but I could tell she was hiding something.

Kennedy’s Perspective

The biggest surprise of the day was walking back into the venue, hand in hand with Alex. I could feel the eyes of every fangirl on me, but honestly, I didn’t care. His hands were warm and soft and he’d occasionally swing our arms back and forth. I was falling for him all over again.

“What are you doing?” I asked, when he walked into the merch booth and sat on the stool next to mine.

“Hanging out with you.” he said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“Don’t you have soundcheck?” I asked.

“Later.” He shrugged.

“Fine.” I shrugged back. I couldn’t make him go away, and something about his presence was oddly comforting.

“Hey, what’s up? I thought Kennedy was going to rip you a new one!” Brian said to Alex..

“Ah, we made up.” Alex said casually.

“Cool. See ya later, man.” Brian replied and walked away.

While All Time Low were doing their set, a tiny blonde girl bounced over to me and sat down on the stool that Alex had vacated in order to play his set.

“Hey.” I laughed.

“Hey! I’m Adelaide,” she said.

“Kennedy,” I replied.

“Which one is yours?” she asked.

“Huh?” I asked back.

“Which guy are you dating?” she clarified.

“Oh, I’m not dating anyone. I’m here to do merch,” I replied.

“Oh honey, that’s gonna change,” she assured me. “That’s my guy,” she said, pointing to Jack, who was jumping around like a kid with ADHD who forgot his meds and flipping off the crowd. We watched as he smacked Alex’s ass and Alex kissed his cheek.

“Oh my god, I thought he was gay!” I cried. That was a lie, but I also was curious to see whether Adelaide and Jack had stuck together.

“Nope. Straight, and all mine.” She grinned.

“Adelaide and Jack. Jack and Adelaide,” I said, mostly to myself. “Jackelaide!” I cried.

“What?” she asked.

“Jackelaide. That’s your couple name,” I explained.

“Jackelaide. I like it!” She smiled and we continued to watch our boys.

Alex hadn’t recognized me, Jack hadn’t recognized me, and now, neither had Adelaide. So far, so good.
