Kiss and Sell

The Boys You Do Get Back At You

It had been so long that Alex almost forgot about Ryan Ross. He felt so bad because he hadn't even gone on the date with him when he promised him just that, but when he looked around for him during school and found no signs of him he felt even worse. Though, Jack finally talking to him did seem to sooth all of his troubles. It wasn't like he talked much, but he did at least talk and not much was better than not at all.

"What are you looking for?" Jack asked when he noticed Alex looking around the cafeteria like he was searching for something. Alex shrugged and Jack could feel he really didn’t want to admit the reasons behind his odd investigation cafeteria. Jack glanced around, following Alex's gaze around the large room and scanning over lunch tables while Danny sat down in front of them along with Rian and Cass.

"Hey." Alex greeted Cassadee who scooted up beside him and gave him a hug. Ever since Jack's been talking Jack, Rian, Cass, and Alex have all been getting pretty close. Cass and Alex were probably the closest while Jack and Rian stayed pretty tight themselves. Cassadee linked their arms and gave his bicep a tight squeeze while saying, "Hey. What were you looking for a minute ago?"

"It was nothing." Alex assured while giving her a small smile before looking over at the skeptical Jack who was squeezing his waist nervously. Alex could tell Jack was worried he was looking for a fuck buddy or something, but Alex told himself he was now over with that. He didn't want to have sex with multiple people anymore. He didn't need it from anyone except one person, and he was more than determined to get it from that one person.

"Uh-huh." Cass said, nodding her head as she tilted it to the side. She could obviously tell Alex was lying through his teeth. Everyone could tell he looked concerned and relentless to find whatever he had been looking for, "So what were you doing?"

"Um, well... remember that Ryan kid?" He asked.

Cass nodded slowly while Danny asked, "The sophomore?"

"Yeah." Alex answered before coughing nervously and saying, "Well, I'm kind of worried about him because I haven't seen him since... like that day he got all upset and we went and talked to him."

"When you said you'd go on a date with hi-" Cass started but was being cut off by Alex shaking his head and suddenly going into a loud coughing fit. Jack rubbed his back and tilted his head as he asked, "What?"

"No, no." Alex quickly said, sending Cass a pleading look and suddenly it all kind of clicked together for her. She frowned and said, "I mean, the day he got upset about his girlfriend standing him up."

"Yeah." Alex said, nodding his head and giving Cass a grateful look, "Anyways, I haven't seen him and I'm getting a little worried." He admitted, biting his lip as he glanced around once again as if Ryan had somehow appeared in under a second.

"I heard he moved." Rian admitted as he took a sip of his drink, "Guess being pushed around by drunks stressed him out." He shrugged.

Cass rolled her eyes at her boyfriend before saying, "I heard the same. He moved, or was getting home schooled or something." She shrugged while Danny nodded and mumbled, "Yeah I heard that too."

"Who's Ryan?" Jack piped in, looking over at Alex who said, "He's got brown hair, kinda short, and he wears make up around his eyes. Y'know?"

"He dates Brendon." Jack said simply.

"Ye- wait. How the fuck do you..." Alex thought for a moment before turning to face Jack and slapping him in the face, "Oh my god, I fucking forgot! You asshole, you beat him up, didn't you? What is your problem?!" He cried before crossing his arms over his chest and turning away from the taller.

"I beat him up for you." Jack grumbled as he reached up and rubbed his burning cheek, "Why do you slap me in the face so goddamn much?"

"Wait. Why did you beat him up?" Alex asked as he slowly turned around, unfolding his arms and looking up at the boy who let his hand drop as he repeated, "I beat him up for you. He wouldn't let you stay with him because you couldn't have sex. He got what he deserved. He was a douche. He was supposed to hold you and take care of you after something like that and he didn't. Fuck him." He shrugged.

"That's not even your call to make." Alex said, stubbornly trying to keep up the argument but in reality he felt truly flattered, "You can't just go beating up people because they treat me like shit. I'm not even worth it."

"Don't say that." Jack snapped, but it wasn't angry it was just stern, "Don't say that about yourself, Alex. You're priceless."

Alex blushed as Cassadee 'aw'ed and Rian and Danny rolled their eyes. Alex could only wrap his arms around Jack's neck and kiss him somewhat roughly. He could taste Jack's cigarettes on his lips and he could honestly care less that is was a bit distasteful to him because it was Jack. Cass continued to aw at the couple as they kissed deeply before Rian covered Cassadee's eyes and said, "Okay, guys, okay. That's enough." While Danny feigned gagging.

Alex disconnected their lips to stick his tongue out at the two while Cassadee tried to pry Rian's hands off her eyes and whined, "Your hands are sweaty!"

Alex laughed as Cass was dragged into her boyfriend's side to be cutely peppered in kisses while suddenly another body had slid in the seat beside Alex's. Alex didn't even think about it having so many people always come and sit beside him, but the table soon had their eyes trained on the new guest so he turned to look as well and saw it to be a girl. Actually, there was two new girls.

"Um, hi." Alex said to the brunette who giggled and waved at him shyly. He tilted his head questioningly at her as the blonde to Jack’s side introduced, "I'm Jenna and this is Tay." She pointed to the brunette beside Alex as he examined her. She was quite pretty, but not as pretty as Jack.

"Hello, Jenna." Jack said and looked over Alex at Tay to greet her as well, but it didn’t sound the same as how he said Jenna’s name. Not to Alex anyways. He could feel a tinge of jealousy at the fact that Jack had greeted Jenna so coolly, like they were old friends and maybe somewhere deep down Jack was attracted to the girl who was daintily giggling at whatever in the fuck the guy was saying. Alex wasn’t paying attention; he was too worried about how Jack had greeted Jenna and what it meant. He glanced over at the boy beside him, pushing himself further into his side and listening as the entire table greeted the two girls. They fit in quickly without a bit of trouble and seemed fun and outgoing. Cass and Rian even invited them to a party going on this weekend that Alex was determined to attend.

When lunch ended (not that most of them really ate anything) Cass grabbed Alex's arm and pulled him out into the hall before the rest of the group caught up and asked, "What was up with that Ryan stuff?"

"Don't tell Jack I said I was going to date Ryan, please. Just forget the whole thing?" Alex begged.

"Were you dating Jack? Were you cheating?" Cass asked. Obviously she was going to tell Jack if Alex was cheating. He was her friend -she had to.

"No, no me and Jack have never dated. That's the point. He's going to feel bad to know I was gonna go out on a date with some kid I barely know and not him. He'll hate me." He explained.

Cass hesitated but nodded, "So why don't you date him already?" She asked, nudging his side, "You guys were acting all in love today."

Alex laughed nervously, "Um, well... I'm not really good with dating... or like..." He rubbed the back of his neck, "Jack. So... I dunno..." He shrugged.

Cass rolled her eyes, "You guys are so typical. Just admit you love each other already! Take him out on a cute little date at the beach!" She grinned, "That's what Rian did!"

Alex sighed, "Yeah, but this is me and Jack, and I can't take Jack on a date. He has to take me. It's the rules with tops and bottoms. I'm the girl, even though Jack's really a mega girl, and Jack's the man and he has to ask me out and buy me pretty roses or I'm not going." He crossed his arms over his chest stubbornly.

Cass rolled her eyes and laughed before nudging him and saying, "Well here comes your man, so you better tell him that exactly before its too late."

"I can't tell him that! He's supposed to figure it out on his own, dude!" Alex cried a smile gracing his lips.

"Figure what out?" Jack asked as walked up behind Alex and suddenly picked him up by the waist making him squeal in surprise. He twirled him around while Alex kicked his legs and laughed until he finally sat him back down on his feet. Alex spun around and glared playfully as he said, "And for that you will never know."
