Kiss and Sell

I've Never Told A Lie, And That Makes Me A Liar

Alex was sitting in his usual spot with Danny, that Zack kid, Evan, and Rian along with a few random guys and gals dotting their lunch table when he heard his name being called quietly. He turned around with a grin, ready for his usual services of charming flirts and compliments to begin just so he could easily tease some guy into getting into his pants because really that's all Alex cared about at the moment. He had surrounded himself in friends to momentarily forget his depressions and was needy and horny for anyone. To see Ryan standing behind him was not what he was expecting, but he'd take cute, inexperienced boys over nothing.

Ryan scratched the back of his head as he noticed all of Alex's friends growing silent, a blush rising across his cheeks as they listened to him stutter, "I-I-I ju-just wanted to, to a-ask where we were g-going tonight?"

"Tonight?" Alex repeated -knowing well enough that he was going to see Jack tonight and had not asked anyone to come along except for Danny. He tilted his head at the boy whose blush deepened as he mumbled, "For our date."

Of course, this caused nearly the entire table to burst out into laughter, besides maybe Alex and a few girls who hadn't been paying attention. Everyone knew Alex didn't date. Even people who had never been with Alex knew he didn't date. Alex face-palmed himself as realization struck his confused mind while Ryan blushed and said, "Oh, I m-mean... S-sorry." before turning around and running off. Alex groaned and let his head drop into his hands while turning back to the table and muttering curses under his breath.

"You're dating the nerd!" Zack howled, "What is he, four?"

"Six, actually, and no, I'm not dating him." Alex said through his hands before looking up, "Obviously he was confused."

Rian narrowed his eyes at the caramel-haired boy, his arm firmly around a girl's waist Alex didn't even recognize you said, "He looked really upset. Maybe someone should go talk to him." And Alex had no idea if she was hinting at him, or herself because she looked about just as ready to cheer anyone up she was so cute and friendly.

"Alex should go." Rian said, though it came out more as a command making Alex groan and shake his head while saying, "I can't. I don't know what to say. How do I fix this, Rian? Help me." And Alex was seriously this bad at comforting and emotions and things. He didn't know how to help anyone unless it somehow led to him getting exactly what he wanted in the end. He only did things for his own benefit, not others.

The girl to Rian's side gave the two off looks while saying, "I'll help you. We can go talk to him together."

"No, Cass, Alex needs to fix this himself." Rian growled, but Cass was simply not having it as she stood up and held a hand out for Alex who took it willingly and saying, "Oh, stop being a mom. He obviously doesn't know what to say. Give him a break." With an eye roll Rian did not appreciate.

"Cassadee!" He cried, but his girlfriend and best friend were already halfway across the cafeteria and after the shorter, brown-haired boy.

"What's his name?" Cass asked as she slowed down at the sight of the boy hiding away in the corner of the cafeteria, face hidden in his arms, alone at a table. Alex answered her his name and as soon as he did she touched his shoulder softly and said, "Ryan? Are you okay? Can I sit here?"

Ryan nodded and as soon as Cassadee sat down he was sobbing into her shoulder and saying, "I'm an idiot."

She reached up and stroked his hair softly while saying, "No you're not. You're very smart. You have senior classes and you're only fifteen."

"I'm still an idiot." He whimpered. Cassadee looked over at Alex as Ryan said, "I thought he actually liked me."

"I do like you." Alex reassured, "Just... I forgot about the date and that I was leaving for the weekend tonight." He said as he sat down beside Cassadee who moved slowly so Ryan could instead hug Alex. The boy did so quickly, whimpering into Alex's chest while Alex tried to find words of comfort and truth, "I... Uh, I'll take you out when I get back." He promised.

Ryan looked up at him and wiped the tears from his face while asking, "Really?"

"Course, Ry. When have I ever lied to you?" Alex asked with a smile as Ryan thought for a moment before shrugging. Cass watched the two with a smile as Ryan snuggled into Alex's chest because she honestly thought she might have helped a relationship she didn't know Alex didn't even want. The boy was only asking Ryan out again out of pity. He also might have felt a little guilty for making the poor kid cry. "Exactly. I wont ever." Alex said almost effortlessly.

It had come so easily to lie and lie again. He didn't know why it was becoming something so second nature to him. It was sad, actually that he could do these things without a problem, especially to just get what he wanted in the end. He was just using Ryan, really. Using him as a distraction. He didn't have Brendon much anymore, seeing as he was distancing himself from him since he's fucking crazy, and Zack had kind of developed a crush on some random guy he wouldn't admit was Danny even though Alex fucking knew it was Danny, and don't even ask about Beau because they were just finished. He had even moved on to a girl in Alex's class.

Danny, well, Alex worried Danny was starting to feel for him. It was kind of obvious form how close he kept trying to be to him, always touching him and suggesting sex even though Alex had already told him he didn't want to have any. Maybe Alex was scared he'd develop feelings for Danny too. He was so worried about feelings and attachments. Danny was already his best friend, he already loved him as one, what if it grew into more?

Maybe that's what happened with Jack. He often wondered if that was what happened. He didn't want to admit it, but the feelings for Jack that Danny said were him just being used to him were slowly getting stronger, slowly growing into a pain. He couldn't seem to get over the fact that he missed Jack so much. He wanted to see him, but then again he wanted to stay away from his motionless body, it almost painful to see him lying like that.

Whether Alex admitted it to himself anymore or not. He was in love with Jack someway or another. The only hard part about it was choosing to ignore it, or roll with it.

God I hope Jack is okay...
