Calling You

Four days. Four fucking days and Jack still hadn't heard one word from Alex. He had texted him. He had called him. He even stalked his Facebook for an hour and messaged him on there just to get a response, but there was nothing. He began to wonder if he should just listen to his mother and call the police. Obviously, by this time it would probably be too late. Alex would probably be dead by now, but Jack wanted to do it as closure. He didn't know what had happened to his friend and even if he was gone at least the police would be able to tell him what had happened to him.

It'd be better than knowing nothing.

He had stopped eating for the pass two days he was so unnerved. He was craving to just know what was happening with his friend. Joyce noticed it and had confided in Bassam about everything Jack had told her. She was planning on talking to Jack when he got home which is why he had to be early and there for dinner. They were going to convince him to call the police. Jack didn't know, of course, all he knew was he needed to be home.

He was more bothered with everything that popped in his head. There were reasons why he didn't want to call the cops and why he did. Sure, they'd help figure out where Alex was and what happened, but what if Alex really was just sick. He'd surely be pissed if the cops came crashing through his house to find him sniffling and feverish in bed. He'd be especially mad knowing Jack called them.

Jack had decided he'd ask around then. He decided to ask Alex's fuck buddies -the only two he knew in school -starting during class. Which meant he asked Mr. Bokan if he had talked to Alex and he had gave him a, "We probably shouldn't talk about Alex, ever." kind of look to which Jack only returned with a glare for the entire hour of his class. After class, a little more privately, Jack had confronted him again and Mr. Bokan had simply answered, "Jack, Alex is very... special... to me, but I haven't heard anything from him the same as you since the he stopped coming to school. Sorry." with a shrug.

Was it jealously that told Jack he didn't believe the creep? Probably.

Then, during lunch, Jack decided to go to the little freshmen's table and ask Muscles what he knew. At first, Jack didn't find much wrong with the guy when he walked up and the boy greeted him rather shyly -remembering Alex saying he had been sweet to him -and was actually kind of okay with him for about two seconds until he had asked Jack, "Who's Alex?" which had Jack wanting to rip his face off because this guy was such a fucking douche he couldn't even remember Alex's name when they had been fucking for the pass week and obviously he didn't give a damn about his missing whore because when Jack explained who he was Zack had said, "Oh? How long has he been gone?"

Rian had been sitting there so it was about the only thing that soothed Jack from pulling a knife of Muscles. He had given him a concerned look when he walked up because he knew Jack never talked to anyone (except for him and Alex maybe) unless he absolutely had to, and began following him around after that, which only reminded Jack of Alex and upset him more and frustrated him. Rian would ask him things like, why he was worried about Alex, where Alex was, what happened to Alex -things Jack just couldn't answer. He snapped and screamed at him which had Rian scoffing and walking away -his hands up as if to say, "I'm not doing this". Jack thought it was weird because it was nothing like what Alex would have done which was stay and irritate him, but then again, maybe it was a totally normal reaction.

Alex had always pushed Jack until he was about to snap. He, like, got off to it or something. He liked to push Jack's buttons until Jack was about to literally explode. Maybe he liked to watch him grow red in the face, struggle to hold it all in, and curse and scream. It was weird, but Jack actually liked it too. He liked how Alex could get him so worked up so easily. He didn't think it was funny nor fun, in fact, it was stressing, but he liked how Alex could do it and only Alex. He knew right what to say to have Jack a shaking angry mess in literally five seconds. Maybe he had a weird kink for it too.

But Jack didn't care about kinks or anything like that. At the moment he was gathering his courage to go to Alex's house. He wanted to see him. He had to see him. He needed to know what was happening. Why he had been ignoring him and gone from school for four days. He was driving around the neighborhood -the sun already starting to go down because he was too much of a pussy to go and ask if he could see him. Jack would admit he was scared to see him. Scared Alex didn't want to see him or something if he was even okay. He was scared, but he was going to do it.

He stopped in front of his house and walked up their horrible, weeded, cracked sidewalk and up the equally as shitty porch steps to the door he knocked on. He felt silly being there. What if Alex thought he was a stalker for remembering exactly where he lived? It was dumb to think that because it was easy to remember -it wasn't like he wasn't familiar with the neighborhood -but he was still worried Alex would think he was a total creep for showing up there announced. He also would feel stupid if end up Alex was completely fine and he overreacted, cut, stopped eating all for nothing.

He was about to turn around and leave when the door opened and a woman stood in the doorway. She had brown eyes like Alex's with messy blond, brown-rooted hair with knots in the back that she probably hadn't brushed out in months. Her face was sunken and lips chapped while her eyes were blown wide, red, and dilated. Jack couldn't tell if she was high or horny because as he looked up a boy about his age with bright red hair walked pass with a sheepish smile -gently nudging pass him.

He looked back at the woman -seeing she was wearing some kind of pink translucent lingerie dress-type thing and could see her underwear through it. He quickly adverted his eyes to his feet as the woman waited silently for him to state his business making him stutter out, "H-hi... Uh... I-is Alex h-here?"

The woman, obviously Alex's mother since he had her nose and lips, swayed a little in the doorway -stumbling forward and purposely tripping on her own feet so Jack was forced to catch her and hold her steady. She giggled as she looked over his shoulder to see his parked motorcycle and gasp, "You're that biker!"

"Uh, y-yeah... I guess..." Jack said as he gently pushed her away so she would stand on her own, but she held onto his arms to keep herself in his embrace. He didn't want to be rude but he would gladly punch a bitch if she didn't let him go soon. Isobel seemed to think about something, or maybe she was going to pass out Jack couldn't really tell, while humming and resting her head on Jack's collar bone -since she was too short to rest it on his shoulder -and looked up at his earring as she traced circles in his bicep making him grimace, "Peter's been lookin' for you, y'know?" And that surprised Jack because he didn't even know Peter knew him. He only knew Peter from when Alex mentioned him and that was rarely ever. "Mad you gave Alex those drugs." She said which made Jack raise his eyebrows. He was utterly confused now and assumed the woman had no idea what she was talking about and was either drunk or high herself, "Even if he knows you didn't give them to him. He still needs to punish someone since he can't punish Alex an-..." She cut herself off before pulling back to look at Jack and cup his cheek, "You wouldn't have anything to do with that stuff anyways, right? A shame you have to pay for my son's mistakes. Hm. Poor baby."

Jack gently tugged out of the woman's grip as he asked, "What are you talking about?"

"Peter's gonna kill you for giving Alex drugs. He's not here right now... He just left... he had to take care of... something... but he'll be back soon. If I were you I'd run." She warned. Jack blinked and shook his head, "What about Alex? What were you saying about Alex? Is he okay?" Isobel shrugged a little and shook her head, "I'm not allowed to talk about Alex. You should leave before Peter gets back. He will be mad you're here. He will hurt you." She began to back up and back into the house when Jack whispered, "Please... Please just tell me he's okay."

"I don't know." She answered sadly -giving him a sympathetic look as she began to close the door but Jack stopped her and frantically asked, "Can I at least see him?"

"He's not here at the moment." She said before glancing down the darkening street, "You better run before Peter gets home."

Jack could only nod as Isobel slammed the door in his face. He could feel the cold air nip at his skin as he thought about Isobel's words. One sticking out like a sore thumb.

"Peter's gonna kill you."

If Peter was capable of killing a boy he didn't even know, how was he not capable of killing his son? Jack could only think that Alex was dead now. Why else was he not allowed to see him? And the whole drug thing? He didn't even know what that was about. He didn't even know Alex did drugs. He still wasn't sure the woman knew what she was talking about. He wondered if it was a set up. Alex was trying to get him to leave him alone and told his father he gave him drugs so he'd kill him or something and Alex would never have to see his face again. But that sounded nothing like Alex. Alex would never handle something like that. He'd tell Jack. He'd always be straightforward about anything and everything especially when he had a problem with someone.

When he got on his bike and started his drive home he realized he was so late. He cursed himself, but then again he didn't really care. He could feel his phone buzzing on his side from inside his pocket but he ignored it because he was driving and that required both hands for motorcycles unfortunately. He figured it was just Rian anyways and really rather not talk to anyone at the moment. He just wanted to get home and go to bed.

But obviously that wasn't going to happen because when he got home he was going to be yelled at for being late. He drove up and parked his bike in the driveway -noticing his brother's car gone too and figuring Joe was late as well. When he walked in Bassam was standing there waiting -his arms crossed over his chest as he growled, "Where have you been?" Jack glared at him as Joyce walked up beside him. He could see May eating desert from the kitchen -probably had just finished dinner. "You're two hours late, Jack! You missed dinner!"

Jack rolled his eyes as his phone began to buzz. He went to answer it when Bassam quickly said, "Don't answer that -answer me! You're mother and I were worried sick!"

"I was late, okay? So what? I'm eighteen. I don't have to listen to you! I was at a friend's house. I like it better there anyways! All you guys do is boss me around!" Jack cried -clutching his phone in his pocket as Bassam opened his mouth to probably scream at him. Jack was waiting for it but Joyce squeezed Bassam's arm making his father close his mouth and look over at her. They seemed to have a silent conversation with their eyes before Bassam sighed and nodded and Joyce softly said, "Jack, let's go to the table and you can have some dinner, okay? Joe's late too and you guys can eat together and wash the dishes and then I'll give you both some cake, yeah?"

"What if I don't want to? What if I'm not hungry? What if I just want to go to bed?" Jack snapped -still tense and frustrated with his parents.

Bassam answered then, just as softly as his mother now, "Jack, we want you to sit at the table and talk with us, please? We need to talk." Jack's shoulders slumped then -so unused to being treated kindly after an outburst. He sighed and nodded a little -letting his phone he once clutched loose and following his parents to the kitchen. They were silent -May already gone -and allowed him to eat his dinner even though all he really did was pick at it. When he was done Joyce brought him a piece of cake and some milk. They watched him eat making him cock an eyebrow and when he finished Bassam finally spoke up, "jack, we want to talk about your friend."

"Why?" Jack asked.

"Because we are worried about him. You said he wasn't at school and obviously you care a lot about him. We want you to call the cops and file a missing persons report for him. He could be hurt or lost."

Jack bit his lip and looked down as he nodded a little while Joyce said, "Something might be wrong. You said his father beat him, and we are just worried for your friend, we want you your permission because we don't want you to get upset, but you said he hasn't even contacted you, right?"

Jack shook his head. He could feel his phone go off again and went to grab it but his mother stopped him and made him look to see her with a sad face. Bassam sighed and said, "We just want to make sure everything is okay. We want to call the police." Jack could fell tears pricking his eyes. He was about to cry. In front of his parents. Again. He sucked in a breath of air and said, "I-I ca-can't."

"Why not?" Joyce asked softly -squeezing his arm reassuringly.

"Because... I talked to his mom today that's why I was late and someone told Alex's dad that I gave Alex drugs-"

"You didn't, did you?" Joyce exclaimed.

"N-no! No!" Jack said while shaking his head frantically, "I didn't even know Alex was into that kind of stuff-"

"Alex is your friend, right?" Bassam asked and Jack nodded. He felt his phone go off again and then twice after that when he ignored it. He looked up at his parents as they exchanged looks before Joyce said, "Jack, honey, you need to tell the police about this. We can wait until tomorrow if you'd like, but you need to report Alex missing."

"B-but his dad is... he's mad because he thinks I gave Alex d-drugs and his mom said he was looking for me and was going to... hurt me... and I'm scared he'll hurt Alex." Jack said quickly -trying to explain as best he could so they'd understand why he couldn't call the cops.

Bassam furrowed his brow, "His father is threatening you? Jack you really need to call the police. What if he follows you home and we're not here to help you? You could get hurt. Alex could get hurt. You don't want that, do you?"

"No! Never!" Jack cried.

Joyce nodded and said, "He loves him." To his father making Jack blush and say, "I do not!" making Joyce roll her eyes and argue, "Yes you do, you told me you do." He looked up at his father and quickly said, "I didn't say that... technically... I meant it in more of a... friendly way..." He trailed off and blushed deeper. He felt his phone go off again making him internally groan because all he wanted to do was kindly tell Rian to fuck off.

His mother sighed, "We can wait until tomorrow but you need to report all of this."

Jack nodded his bowed head and said, "I want to be the one who calls them, though."

They both agreed and Jack was dismissed. He hadn't realized how much time had passed until he checked his clock and it read 10:38. He quickly ran upstairs and took a shower. He brooded for a long time about Alex and about how he'd have to call the police if he even did and what Isobel had told him and everything. By the time he got out it was 11:50 and he didn't realize how much time had passed.

He yawned and walked towards his bed when he heard his phone vibrate on the floor from inside his jacket and walked towards it. He grabbed it and flipped it open to see he had eleven missed calls.

All of them from the same number.
