Jack and I got back to the bus, I led the way. The instant Tay saw me, she started to give me aneurysms. I groaned in pain as I fell to my knees. Kenzie ran to my side and held me.

“Tay stop,” Kenzie ordered her.

“He came back to hurt the baby,” she countered.

“No,” I groaned in pain, “I didn’t.”

“Tay let him go,” Jack added in.

Once she stopped, I fell onto my face. I was breathing heavily, trying to handle the relief from the pressure she put on my brain. Kenzie rubbed my back. I got up and glared at Tay.

“Alex,” Kenzie made me look at her, “Let’s go talk in the back lounge.”

I followed her, shooting a glare at Tay as we passed her. I took a seat on the couch and she sat next to me. I knew she was worried about what I was planning. I took a deep breath and grabbed her hands.

“I’m going to support you,” I told her.

“What,” she was surprised, “Why? I thought you didn’t want the baby?”

“I did,” I told her, “But then I realized why you wanted a baby.”

“Alex,” she was taken aback.

“You never knew your parents,” I told her, “I knew that you wanted to be a mom. To give a child the kind of love you never got. To be able to have child that would know their mom. I’m sorry for how I reacted.”

“You had every right to,” she replied, “This is new for us.”

“Well for you maybe,” I told her, “Not for me.”

“Tessa said you had witnessed this same thing before,” she looked down at our hands, “Can you explain it to me. I think I should know.”

“It’s not pretty,” I told her, “The mom is put at risk of dying because of what the baby does to her. The baby will drain you of all strength and energy. It needs the same thing a vampire does to live.”

“It needs blood,” she started to shake.

“And it’ll take it from the first available source,” I told her, “It’ll drain you of your blood. We’ll have to make you drink blood for the baby to take instead of yours.”

“Is there anything else,” she asked.

“The baby will be strong,” I warned her, “Delivery will kill you. Jack and I will make you have it at home. I will get you to turn. I know it’s not what I wanted for you, but the baby will need you. And so will I.”

“Alex,” she hugged me tightly, “Thank you, so much. Thank you for understanding. I love you. I know that we’ll love our baby.”

“Of course I’ll love the baby,” I smiled at her, “I helped make that little bean.”

“Now is there anything else I need to know,” she asked as she held onto my cheek with her left hand.

“The pregnancy will go a bit faster than a normal one, so we’ll need to keep a record on your progress,” I told her.
---
Since I never actually fathered a baby before, I decided to do research on the subject. I knew that the baby wouldn’t be like a normal, human baby. But I had an idea that the baby would act like a normal baby and grow like a normal baby, just faster and do more damage to the mother.

Kenzie was sound asleep next to me. The stress of the day had exhausted her. She looked so peaceful. She looked truly happy. I hoped she’d stay asleep. I didn’t want her to wake up. She needed to rest up. Because soon she’ll struggle sleeping once the baby starts moving. The baby will kick her very hard. And it will hurt her. But mixed with the blood she’ll ingest will be my blood. It should help her heal from any injuries from the baby.

What scared me most was how Kenzie would handle being a vampire. I didn’t want her to be like me. I want her to be her normal compassionate self. I want to see her loving nature amplified. I don’t want her to turn out like I did.

The idea of being a father is freaking me out. I never thought I would be able to have a child. I thought turned vampires couldn’t procreate, but I was wrong. I mean I made a baby with Kenzie. There’s a life growing in her. Given it’s one that will kill her, but I am still going to love that kid.

Kenzie started to wake up. She wasn’t in a panic like she usually was, which meant she wasn’t about to be sick. I do know that she’ll be hungry since she hasn’t been able to eat for a while. Maybe having her drink some blood while eating normal food will help her.

“Hmm,” Kenzie yawned and stretched, “I’m starving.”

“Do you want to try eating something,” I asked her as I played with her hair, “I think I know how to keep food down for you.”

“And how’s that,” she asked.

“You’d have to drink some blood while you eat,” I told her, “Your body should accept food when you have blood with it.”

“We have to try,” Kenzie sighed as she sat up, “And starting on drinking blood could help me prepare for being a vampire too. Reduce my initial bloodlust.”

“Maybe,” I kissed her forehead, “How about you stay here in the bunk while I fix you something to eat.”

“Okay,” she kissed me before I climbed out of our bunk.

So I just stumbled across this series and I really like what you have of it so far. :) You're a really great writer and not a lot of people have done the Alex as a vampire type of story. I've read a few but this one is definitely one of the top ones I've read. :)
I'm sad it was never continued, though. If you ever find the inspiration to continue it, I will be here to read. I would like to know how Alex and Kenzie's story ends.
I am definitely subscribing, so yeah, I'll be here if you continue. :) This story definitely deserves more recognition.
