Impossibilites

I woke up the next morning completely exhausted. I sat up, but recoiled in pain. I noticed that the curtains over the window was open just enough to let in a little bit of light. I looked down at my arm to find the healed burn. The spell actually worked.

“Alex,” I shook his body, seeing he was sleeping beside me, “Alex wake up you lazy bum.”

“Hmm,” he groaned as he sat up, “Oh you’re finally awake.”

“And I got burned,” I told him, “The spell worked.”

“Of course it did,” Abigail commented as she came into the room, “I’m glad you’re awake. I have something for you.”

Abigail handed me the pendant necklace that was in her hands. I looked at it, knowing it was familiar. It was the necklace I wore as a child to ward of the harmful rays of the sun. I remember it so vividly, knowing that I was burned several times from forgetting to put it on every morning when I would wake up.

“You held onto this,” I asked her, “I thought you would have given it away.”

“I knew you would need it again if you became your old vampire self,” she replied, “I had to get a longer chain so it’d fit you better now that you’re all grown up.”

“Thank you,” I smiled as Alex helped me get it on, “I was worried I’d be forced to turn nocturnal.”

“I’d call Tay to make you something to wear,” Alex smirked, “Abigail just happened to save from making the call.”

“Now I need to ask this,” I looked over at Abigail, “Does Arielle, my daughter, also become a pureblood now that my blood has been awakened?”

“No,” she replied, “Because of her father being a turned vampire, she remains the same the way she was when she was born.”

“Good,” I replied, “I’d hate for her to be sensitive to the sun.”

Once everyone was up, we decided to start planning about how to deal with Nathaniel. Alex was not going to let me do anything risky, which was unfair. I wanted to protect him from my father. I was the one he’s after. I want to be the one to kill him instead of him killing me to get what he wants.

“Nathaniel is very powerful,” Mother informed everyone, “He is also known for using vampires to do his dirty work. He also feeds them vampire blood to make them very strong. The only things strong enough to stop his soldiers is an older vampire on vampire blood or a pureblood. We have only four purebloods and he keeps five soldiers under his command at a time.”

“I’ll drink the blood if it means my revenge,” Carmina replied.

“I’ll drink it to help protect Kenzie,” Alex replied.

“Mackenzie,” Mother looked at me, “We will be leaving to return to Timonium. That’s where we have to make our stand against your father.”

“Why there,” I asked.

“Because that’s where he was entombed,” Uncle Richard answered, “I was protecting you in the last place he’d think to search for you when he broke free. He’ll be waiting for up if he caught on.”

“We have friends there,” Alex added as he squeezed my hand tight, “They’ll able to help.”

“Then we must go north,” Evangeline stood up, “We don’t have much time to prepare. He could have more troops by now.”

We headed back home at sunset. We had to travel at night since Abigail was still working on making daylight charms for Evangeline and my mother. This made it very hard for us to get to Timonium faster.

“Traveling at night is taking too long,” I groaned, “We need to get there faster.”

“We have no choice,” Uncle Richard replied, “Unless you want to tow your aunt and mother in the trunk.”

“Not happening,” Mother replied before I could say yes.

“We can use this time to get me and Carmina started on the blood,” Alex replied, “We’ll be able to overcome the night terrors better this way.”

“That sounds like a plan,” Abigail agreed, “I can charm you guys to not have such vivid nightmares as well.”

“And when we get home,” I looked around the car, “We need to come up with a game plan to beat Nathaniel."

Sorry it's short. I'm suffering from a headache. I'm planning a new story and I also have the final story in the saga planned and ready. I'll get the link out on the last chapter.
