The Sadness Will Never End

Jack rested his head against Alex's chest. Alex was sure that Jack would fall asleep any minute now but he was comfortable on the couch with Jack's head on his chest and the rest of him cuddled against Alex's body.
The only thing that was on TV at this time of night was home shopping programs. Jack felt like he needed to buy everything that they advertised but he knew that he was just tired and gullible so he shut his eyes and pressed his face against Alex's neck.
Alex wasn't a cuddly person, maybe that was because he never had anyone to cuddle with but being this close to Jack was nice. It felt right and he felt more than happy to fall asleep next to the younger boy.
Eventually the inevitable happened and the two fell asleep. Jack's face was snuggled against Alex's neck and Alex's arms were rested against Jack's hips.

When the two awoke they realized that they had school. Jack had woken up first and gone straight to the kitchen to make himself and Alex a coffee.
It was obvious that Jack's parents had gotten home because there was a blanket wrapped around the two and they had both slept through the night.
Jack felt embarrassed. His parents had seen him cuddle up to another boy on the sofa. On the other hand he thought that they wouldn't even remember it because they had gone out and probably had a few drinks. It was late at night too so Jack figured that he wouldn't have any questions about it any time soon.
When Jack returned to the living room with a cup of coffee in each hand he saw that Alex was now awake.
Alex's hair was all muddled and his eyes looked tried. Jack smiled at him softly as he set their coffee cups down on the table.
"Did you have a good sleep?" Alex asked.
Jack nodded his head and smiled briefly.
"Sorry, I fell asleep on you."
"It's alright, Jack," Alex chuckled.
"You're actually kind of comfy," Jack said quietly, hoping that Alex didn't hear him.
Alex did hear him but he didn't acknowledge it for the sake of making Jack feel embarrassed.
"I made you a coffee," Jack said, handing the older boy a steaming cup.
Alex nodded in thanks and began to sip at the drink.
"I brought some clothes for today, y'know, seeing as we have school in an hour," Alex told Jack.
"Oh okay," Jack returned, not really knowing what to say. "You can take a shower first. First room on the left." Jack pointed to the staircase and Alex thanked him with a smile.

Once they had arrived at school, Alex was instantly stopped by a girl. Jack didn't know who the girl was and he was tempted to keep walking to his first class but he stood by Alex.
"Alex, baby, how about another date this weekend?" The girl asked in a high pitched annoying voice.
Alex looked at Jack and then back at the girl in front of him.
"Actually, I've got plans this weekend, sorry," Alex said to her.
Without waiting for her reaction, Alex began walking towards his locker with Jack closely by his side.
"So, should we hang out again this weekend?" The older boy asked.
Jack wanted to say yes but he remembered the girl. Lisa, he thought her name was.
"No, it's alright. You should go on another date with her," Jack said as he looked down at the ground to avoid Alex's beautiful eyes.
"It's okay, really. I'm not interested in her anyway. I'll get your mom to call my mom and we can organize something."
The bell sounded for first period and when Jack looked up from the floor Alex was gone. He looked around but there was no sign of the boy who left the house dressed in grey skinny jeans and a white shirt.
'I'm not interested in her anyway' Jack kept thinking about that and why he was ignoring date from a girl who seemed nice just to hang out with Jack.
Jack was nothing special so he struggled to think about why Alex had chosen him over Lisa. Then Jack wondered why he was thinking so much about Alex, they'd only just met.
On his way to class it occurred to Jack that had a small crush on Alex.
