Another week had passed and Bella and Alex were getting anxious to tell people of their great news. Bella just didn't know when would be the right time to tell Paige. She needed to tell her first. It was her duty as a best friend. Besides, how hurt would Paige feel if she knew that Bella had let her find out for herself? Although, it wouldn't be too hard to guess now, with the bump growing more and more everyday. But Alex had finally talked Bella into going for a scan. He'd used the excuses "at least we will know how far you are gone", "we'll know how long you will have left", "we'll know if anything is wrong" and her favourite one: "we'll know what sex the baby is so we can buy things". When in all honesty, she knew that Alex was just excited to find out whether it was a boy or a girl, and how long until this boy or girl was welcomed into the world by the whole world. Because this wasn't going to go down quietly. Not if Alex had his way.

So there they all were, in Bella's car, in the car park of the Doctor's surgery. Bella and Paige in the front, Alex and Zack in the back. Rian and Jack had begged to come along and Bella had joked that they could if they tied some rope to the end of the car, and put on some roller-skates. They had taken it a bit too seriously and so Alex had to run out of the house and lock it whilst the two of them searched the house for rope.

Paige looked at Bella and broke the silence. "So why have Alex and Zack come?"

"Well Zack has come to wait outside the room for you, and Alex has come to keep me company while you go in for your therapy! It's a long old wait, y'know!" Bella poked Paige in the arm.

Paige nodded whilst laughing. "Okay, okay. I get it. I'm sorry. I best get in there then. Zack, you still coming?" She looked in the back of the car at Zack, who nodded with a smile on his face. The two of them got out of the car and headed for the entrance to the surgery, looking back and waving at Alex and Bella. Alex climbed through to the front of the car and sat next to Bella, holding her hand.

"When's your appointment, babe?" Alex watched Bella as she watched Zack and Paige disappear into the building.

"In ten minutes. It's the closest one they could get. At least it will give them time to get where they need to be, and then hopefully, them two won't see us go in."

"We hope." Alex muttered.

"Hush up. I like to think that the Doctors here are always on time, so leave me to it." Bella smiled as she looked at Alex. "Oh, Alex. I love you."

"I love you too, gorgeous." He leaned over and gave Bella a kiss on the lips, as they sat and chatted, waiting for the time to pass.

"I don't like it in here, Alex." Bella whispered as she held Alex's hand for dear life. They'd been to reception and the lady at the desk had recognised Alex; she was obviously a fan. She'd smiled and waved them through, a knowing smile on her face. "She has to keep that confidential, doesn't she? What if she puts it on Facebook or Twitter or anything?"

Alex gulped at the possibilities. "If it happens, then we complain and get her fired. Smile." He said as he held open the door to, what he called, the "baby section" of the surgery. Bella walked through the door and quickly grabbed hold of Alex's hand again, making sure he was by her side at every moment. They sat down in the waiting room, as a couple of women with bumps bigger than Bella's, looked at her and Alex and smiled, whispering to each other.

"If I hadn't said it before, I really don't fucking like it here." She grunted to Alex, who just laughed quietly, squeezing Bella's hand for comfort. In all honesty, he was excited. And he knew that Bella was just nervous.

"Errr.." A Midwife appeared from a closed door, looking around for her next patient.

"Or victim." Bella thought to herself.

"Miss.. Isabella Stitham?" The Midwife exclaimed, as Bella's cheeks heated and she slowly rose from her seat, dragging Alex with her. She smiled innocently at the Midwife, who smiled back and welcomed her into the room. She hated people calling her by her full name.

"Call me Bella. Please." Bella practically begged.

"Okay, Bella. Sorry, I have to be completely formal until I'm told otherwise. Anyway, I'm guessing you're here for a scan?" Bella nodded in answer. "Right, okay then. If you'd just like to pop yourself up on here." She tapped the table that was in the corner of the room as Bella trudged over to it. "Now, I just need you to roll your shirt up.. do you mind if I -"

"No, go ahead."

The Midwife rolled up Bella's shirt enough to have the bump on full display. "You have a really cute bump, y'know. Wait for a couple of months, when it gets bigger!" The Midwife eased, trying to calm Bella's nerves.

Bella shook her hand at the side of her, summoning Alex over, who sauntered over and held her hand. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, stroking her hair out of her face.

"I'm guessing this is the Father, then?" Bella nodded again in answer to the Midwife's question. "Would you like me to get started? Or do you want me to tell you what happens?"

Bella answered. "Can we just get started please? And talk after?" She gulped, feeling horrible.

"She's just really nervous." Alex soothed as he kissed her forehead again, and smiled reassuringly at Bella.

The Midwife smiled at the gesture. "No, that's fine. I completely understand. Right, I'm just gonna put this gel on your belly, okay? It might be a bit -"

"Holy mother of fuck, that is cold!" Bella exclaimed as the Midwife rubbed the gel around her stomach.

"- cold.." The Midwife finished her sentence, trying not to laugh. "Okay, I'll put the screen down a bit so that we can all see it. Luckily, the small one broke yesterday, so we get a nice, new big one!" She seemed over-excited, almost as if the old one had broken on purpose. Bella giggled at the thought. "Ooh, there we go! I see.. would you like to know the sex?"

Bella and Alex looked at each other in excitement. Bella chewed her bottom lip whilst smiling. They nodded their heads at each other and both turned around in unison, answering the question at the same time.
