Jalex One Shots

Jack woke up and sat up abruptly in his bunk, narrowly missing the bunk above him. Jack grabbed his phone out from under his pillow to check the time; 4:34am.

“Another nightmare!? God, I’m a grown man this still shouldn’t be happening.” He mentally cussed himself and then got out of his bunk and walked over to Alex’s on the other side. He knew that being with Alex was probably his only way of going back to sleep and he would need all the energy that he could get for tomorrow’s show.

“Alex.” He drew out the X in Alex’s name as he opened the curtain to his bunk and sat beside his friend’s sleeping body.

“Jack what is it?” Alex’s voice sounded tired and Jack didn’t blame him, he probably just woke him up from a good dream.

“I-I had a nightmare.” Jack explained, he hated telling people these things because he thought that it made him seem weak but Alex told him that whenever he was upset or in this case whenever he had a nightmare that Jack should go straight to him.

“Sorry Jack, I didn’t mean to sound the way I did,” Alex apologized but to Jack’s acknowledgement Alex had done nothing wrong, “Come here.” Alex held out his arms and let Jack lie down next to him in his bunk. It was a little cramped but they worked their way around it and Jack nuzzled his face into Alex chest.

“What was your nightmare about Jacky?” Alex asked Jack as he put his arms around him and held the boy closer to himself. Alex played with Jack’s hair while he waited for an answer.

Jack thought about it for a second and his words got all chocked up when he went to say them. He didn’t like telling anyone anything, Jack was one of those people who kept everything to themselves and he knew that one day it would all backfire on him but it was currently working for him and that’s all that mattered. “You remember when we were in high school and [some guy’s name] beat me up and called me names?” Jack asked Alex.

“Yeah I do.” Alex replied. To say that he was worried about Jack was an understatement. Years ago Alex thought that Jack’s nightmares had stopped but recently they had come back and they were almost every night. He knew that it wasn’t just from that one incident at school; they were from lots of things.

“I just had a dream about that but it was worse.” Jack sighed. Alex brushed the hair off of Jack’s face.

“It’ll get better Jack; just remember that you can always come to me when you need to.” Alex placed a small kiss on Jack’s cheek.

“Thanks Alex, I’m going to try and get some sleep now.” Jack rested his head on Alex’s chest and closed his eyes. He liked falling asleep next to Alex because he knew that Alex would keep him safe from anything and he never seemed to have nightmares when he was next to Alex.

Alex smiled and pulled Jack closer to him. He hated seeing Jack like this because Jack had done nothing to deserve what happened to him and he certainly didn’t deserve to be woken up each night by nightmares. Alex wanted nothing but for Jack to be happy.
