Thinking of You

Arianne’s Perspective

The next morning, I woke up to my buzzer going off.

“Who is it?” I asked through the call system.

“Flower delivery for Arianne James,” a male voice said.

“Okay, I’ll be right down,” I said.

I put on my slippers and left my apartment, even though I was still in my pajamas. I got into the elevator and took it down to the lobby. I took the long skinny box from the guy and thanked him.

I opened up the box to a single white rose, my favorite, a note from Zack.

“Thinking of you, as always. Call me when you can. XO, Zack.”

I blushed and smiled, my eyes brimming with tears. I went back up to my apartment, holding onto the box for dear life. As soon as I got back to my apartment, I called Zack.

“Hey baby,” he said when he answered. I could hear the smile in his voice.

“Hey.” I smiled back.

“Did you get my present?” He asked.

“Yes. How did you know?” I asked back.

“I texted Cora on your phone when we got breakfast when you were in the bathroom and then deleted it so you wouldn’t know.” He chuckled.

“Very smooth, Zachary.” I smiled to myself.

“I’m glad you think so.”

There was a short silence, but it wasn’t awkward.

“I miss you,” Zack whispered.

“I miss you too. We should Skype tonight after your show,” I suggested.

He chuckled weakly.

“Uh, with the time difference, that’d be at four AM for you,” I pointed out.

I sighed.

“You’re right.”

“But I’ll text you every minute I can,” he promised.

I nodded, then I realized he couldn’t see me.

“Okay.”

We hung up soon after that and reverted to texting.

I decided to pass the time by hanging with Kara.

“Hey girl, long time, no see!” Kara grinned when she picked me up in her car to go shopping.

“Yeah, it’s been a while,” I agreed.

“So how was England?” She asked.

“Great! Zack and I talked it out and now we’re dating and Zack’s been really great.” I smiled.

“That’s awesome! Zack’s a real catch, but I never would’ve gone there. Stupid damn bro code!”

I laughed.

“Well, thank goodness for that. I don’t think I could compete with a Greek goddess,” I joked.

“Well, what can I say?” She asked, flipping her chestnut hair over her shoulder.
