Arianne’s Perspective

“By the way, what happened to your arm?” Zack asked as we broke away from the kiss.

I laughed.

“That was from showering drunk. I slipped and fell.”

He chuckled.

“Was that the night at Mo’s?” He asked.

“You saw me?” I asked.

“Yup. Being dragged out by Cora,” he chuckled.

“That’s when I saw you!” I smiled.

“Yeah, we had a few chance encounters, didn’t we?” He asked with a smirk.

I nodded.

“I guess someone or something out there wanted us together.” I smiled back at him and kissed him again.

After that, Zack and I walked around a bit. We couldn’t go far because it was getting late and Zack had bus call soon, but we walked anyway, and talked pretty much the whole time.

As we approached the bus again, he took me in his arms and held me for a minute, until finally kissed my head.

“This isn’t a goodbye, it’s a ‘see you soon,’” he promised me, hugging me again.

I simply nodded and let him hold me.

“Night, Zack,” I said and walked away.

“Night, Ari,” he replied, blowing me a kiss.

I walked back to the hotel, my thoughts occupied by Zack. This time, I had walked away with his number programmed in my phone and my number in his so there was no way we could lose touch.

Just thinking about Zack gave me butterflies. His lips, his eyes, the golden brown of his hair, his muscles, his smile, just everything. I got into the room and was immediately interrogated by Cora.

“How was it? Are you guys okay? What happened?” she asked frantically.

“Slow down, Cor. It was fine. We talked, went for a walk, talked some more. We’re okay, but I don’t exactly know where we stand. But I did get his number this time and he has mine!” I said triumphantly.

“I’m proud of you, Ari.” Cora grinned.

I settled down for bed, even though I knew I couldn’t possibly sleep.

The next morning, Cora and I woke up, showered, got dressed, and left the hotel room, intent on finding breakfast somewhere. We got down to the lobby and to my surprise, Zack was there. I ran to him and hugged him tightly, even though it had really only been a few hours since we had seen each other.

“We’re leaving for Birmingham at 11 but I couldn’t not see you,” he told me.

I smiled.

“Well, your presence isn’t exactly unwelcome.” I winked at him.

“You wanna go out for breakfast?” He asked.

“I was actually going to go with Cora…” I said slowly and his face fell.

“You kids go have fun,” Cora said, making a shooing motion with her hands.

Zack smiled and took my hand, walking out.

We ended up going to Nando’s, which also had delicious breakfast foods. I ordered pancakes while Zack ordered a platter with eggs, bacon, hash browns, and sausage. We held hands the whole time, which is really cheesy, but whatever.

When we finished, he payed the entire bill and walked me back to my hotel.

“Zack?” I piped up while we were walking in comfortable silence.

“Yeah?”

“What are we?”
“What do you want us to be?”

“Well, I’d like to be your girlfriend--”

“And I’d like to be your boyfriend.”

“But you’re touring all the time and it’s not healthy, it’s not convenient, it’s not ideal, it’s crazy, it’s--” I rambled, but he kissed me, cutting off my rant.

“If we want it to work, we can make it work,” he told me. “So, will you be my girlfriend?” he asked.

I giggled.

“Yes I will!”
