Stay awake
Chapter 2- The girl behind the counter.
March 3rd
I looked over at the girl in my bedroom, changing into her clothes from the night before. I bit my lip softly and sat up, grabbing my t-shirt, slipping it over my head.
“Well, I had a nice night. What was your name again?” The girl grinned.
I nodded. “Alex.” I smiled.
She smiled and nodded. “Nice meeting you Alex.” She grabbed her purse from the floor and kissed my cheek softly, showing herself out of my apartment.
I sighed and shook my head, slipping my jeans on once I heard the door shut. It had been like this for a while. One night stands. They didn’t really do much for me, but it was something to fill some empty hole I had.
I stood up and slipped a beanie over my head, shoving my phone and wallet in my pocket. I grabbed my apartment keys and walked out of the apartment, locking the door. I sighed and took the elevator to get outside and looked around the city, biting my lip softly. Same old city. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and I sighed, picking it up. “Hello?”
“Aleeeex! We’re going to New York City!”
I raised an eyebrow, listening to Jack on the other line. “New York? Why?”
Jack chuckled. “A radio channel wants to do an acoustic show and an interview.”
I smiled. “That’s awesome, Jack. When do we go?”
I heard Jack chuckle. “Tonight.. We leave tonight.”
I bit my lip. “That’s a little short notice.”
He chuckled. “I know. But I let the other’s know, and we already have tickets. So get your ass packing, and let’s go to New York City.”
I chuckled and looked around, biting my lip. “New York City. Okay.” I muttered and smiled. “See ya later.” I hung up and shoved my phone back into my pocket. Well, now I wouldn’t be stuck in the same old city.

Present Day, April 5th
It had been about a month since the band headed to New York for this radio interview. It helped set us off, though. We started booking more tours and interviews, eventually creating a nice fan base for ourselves. It was pretty good. I decided to move to an apartment in New York. The scenery was nice.
I walked to a little diner by my house, looking around for a booth.
“Sit anywhere you want.”
I heard a voice and smiled, nodding. “Thanks.”
I sat down at a little bar stool, staring at a menu for what I wanted that day.
The girl behind the counter turned around and smiled at me, “Can I start you with a coffee?”
I stared at the menu and nodded, hearing her question. “Yes, please.” I bit my lip and realized something in her voice. It was the voice of that angel from a year ago. I looked up and looked at her, smiling.
I found my angel.
