Stay awake
Chapter 1- I saw an angel.
It hurt to look at her face. When she walked into that bar, tears running down her face. It just hurt me.
I was sitting at the bar, waiting for my best friend Jack to join me. I happened to look at the entrance, watching a beautiful brunette walk inside. But she had tears streaming down her face, as if something just crushed her whole world. She sat at the bar stool next to me and I took a glance, biting my lip. It was going to be my friends seat, but I didn’t want to say anything.
“What’s the best drink here?” I heard a voice of an angel.
I looked over, seeing the girl looking right at me. I gave a tiny smile and shrugged. “I usually get a beer, so I’m not sure. It depends how strong you want it.”
She looked at me and smiled. “Strong enough to forget my past.”
I shrugged. “I’m not sure anything is that strong.”
She nodded. “I hoped you wouldn’t say that.”
I looked down and smiled. ”But I can start you with a beer.”
She grinned and nodded. “A beer would be nice.”
I pulled out my wallet, grabbing a few dollar bills, asking the bartender for a beer.

After a few drinks with the brunette, she was asking me to get a taxi and take her home. When Jack arrived, I held my arms around the girl, helping her walk to his car. I helped her sit in the back seat, and then I got in, waiting for Jack to start the car. Usually, I wouldn’t let him drive, but we were both a little tipsy.
The brunette laid her head on my lap and looked up at me. It was the saddest look in someone’s eyes. “Can I stay with you tonight?”
I looked down at her and nodded, letting Jack know to go to my house.
Once we got to my house, I carried her inside, laying her on my bed gently. “Would you like a change of clothes?”
She nodded and smiled. “Yes please.”
I helped her undress, getting her into a pair of basketball shorts and a t-shirt that I had lying around. I covered her with my blanket and smiled. “Goodnight.”
She looked at me and kissed my cheek. ”Goodnight.” She muttered and closed her eyes, slowly falling asleep.

In the morning, I woke up on my not so comfortable couch and yawned, looking around the quiet apartment. I sighed and stood up, slipping a shirt over my head. I walked inside my room to check on the brunette and looked around, finding her gone. She made the bed, folded my clothes, and just left. I frowned, looking around for a note, but I found nothing. I didn’t even know her name.
That was a year ago, and I still have yet to find that angel that came into that bar again, but I am determined to find her.
