Chapter Forty-Five: Astronaut
"You ready to see daddy perform today!?" I asked Jackie as I wrapped her up in a bath towel.
"Yeah! Can I hug him?" She asked, looking up at me as I led her out of the bathroom.
"I'm not gonna stop you, hun," I said with a small laugh as we entered her room. I helped her get dressed, & when she was, I dried her hair with the towel.
"Let's head downstairs, & I'll brush your hair out & put it up, alright?" I asked, & Jackie nodded. She ran out of the room & I picked up her hairbrush & a hair tie, & I followed her down.
I had gotten up early this morning; around five, just to get myself ready. I was excited to see Jack, & I was excited to watch them play tonight. I pulled the brush through Jackie's long brown hair. It didn't match mine.. it matched Brandon's, but that was okay. It was beautiful either way.
Once I got all the knots out, I pulled her hair up into a ponytail, making sure there were no obscene bumps and loose hairs, & I kept it all together with the hair tie, letting her bangs fall over her left eye.
"Okay," I said, & Jackie turned around with a huge smile.
"Thanks mommy!" She exclaimed, hugging me as tight as she could. I hugged her back with a smile.
"You're welcome, sweetie. Now, go get your shoes on, & we'll head out," I said. Jackie let go of me & grabbed her shoes that were by the door. She slipped them on while I stood up & grabbed my car keys & sunglasses. I made sure I had my phone, & I followed Jackie out the front door & to my truck. I strapped Jackie into the back, & I got in the driver's seat. I started the engine, put my seat belt on, sent a quick text to Jack telling him we were on our way to Rams Head Live, & I tossed my phone onto the passenger seat. I pulled out of the driveway, & we were off.

We made it to the venue, & Jackie was getting more excited with each minute, as was I. I grabbed my phone from the passenger seat after killing the engine. I got out of the car & I helped Jackie out, then I locked it & we headed over to the doors. There were hundreds of fans waiting outside, & I smiled as Jackie latched onto my hand tightly.
I picked her up when we reached the security guards at the door, & I showed them the 'special' tickets Jack had mailed to me. They nodded & opened only one door for us, all the while fans were screaming at me. I only smiled & entered, being succumbed into a light darkness when the door was closed behind me.
Jackie clung onto the back of my shirt as I walked towards the stage. They were doing soundcheck. I smiled up at Jack, & he grinned back.
"Look, Jackie! It's daddy!" I said, pointing at Jack. Her eyes followed my finger, & she smiled wide when they landed on him.
"You can't hug him just yet though. He's a little busy," I said, & she pouted.
"Alright guys! Everything sounds great!" I heard a voice yell in the distance, & the four of them left the stage with their instruments. All except Rian of course. A few minutes later, I was being engulfed in a very tight hug by Jack.
"Hey Jack," I laughed as he pulled away from the embrace. He was quick to press his lips to mine, & I savored the feeling I hadn't felt in months. He pulled away, but lingered for a second before turning his attention on Jackie. She giggled as he took her from me, giving her a big hug which I'm sure she enjoyed.
"I missed you, princess!" Jack exclaimed as he held her out at an arms length. She only giggled again.
"She missed you a lot too, Jacky," I said with a smile.
"I bet. She must've been bored without me there to entertain her!" Jack said. He brought her back to his chest, & he held her on his hip like I had been doing. He pressed a soft kiss to her temple, then looked at me.
"C'mon. I'll take you side stage where you'll be able to watch," he said with a smile, & he took my hand & led me backstage, then side stage.
"We'll have to get Jackie some headphones though. Don't want her ear drums to be all fucked up for the rest of her life. She can start to fuck them up when she's a teenager," Jack said, & I laughed. He went to go find a pair of headphones after handing Jackie to me. He returned with a pair minutes later, & he set them down on top of his guitar rack.
"Hey Rebecca!" Alex said as he emerged from somewhere backstage.
"Sup Alex?" I asked. He smiled & took Jackie from me.
"Hi Uncle Alex!" Jackie exclaimed, making him smile.
"Hey Princess! Have you been keeping out of trouble for mom?" He asked her as he started to walk away, giving me & Jack some alone time. He approached me & placed his hands on my hips, & he pulled me against his body gently. I wrapped my arms around his neck & looked into his eyes.
"God.. I've missed you," he said.
"I've missed you too," I said, & he was quick to kiss me again. We stood there for a while, just kissing and loving being alone together after being apart. My heart ached for him, & I just wanted to rip his clothes off then & there, but I knew I couldn't, because, well, we were in public.
"When we get home later, I'm so going to rip those clothes off," Jack murmured against my lips, pretty much voicing my thoughts.
"I don't mind," I replied. Jack pulled away from me & laughed a bit, placing his forehead on mine.
"I fucking love you, Becca," he said.
"I love you too, Jack," I said.
"Alright! We're getting ready to open the doors! Man Overboard, I want you to start getting ready!" Was what I heard before hearing the sound of hustling & bustling. Jack & I stepped out of our embrace just as Alex returned with Jackie, Rian & Zack trailing behind him. I took her from him & grabbed the headphones. I set Jackie down, & I crouched down before her.
"Alright sweetie. I'm gonna have you wear these while the bands perform so your hearing doesn't get all messed up, alright? You'll still be able to hear, but the sound will be a little muffled, okay?" I asked, & she nodded. I adjusted them so they fit her, & I hoisted her back up on my hip.
"I've gotta head backstage. See you after," Jack said, & he kissed me before following the rest of his band & Pierce The Veil backstage.
This was gonna be great.
