Chapter Forty-Six: Invisible
I watched All Time Low's set with a huge smile.
I was eager though. Eager to get home with Jack. Eager to be wrapped up in his arms tonight. But a thought occurred to me. We'd never told anyone, & I mean anyone that Jack & I are engaged. Not the band, not the fans, not Cassadee, & not Stephanie. & I immediately felt bad for that.
Before I knew it, Jack, Rian, & Zack were running offstage as the lights dimmed as Alex walked over to Danny who handed him an acoustic guitar. I watched as Jack pulled me against him, leaving an arm around my waist as I rested my head against his chest. I was standing in front of him, & his chin was rested on my head.
"This next song... I'm sure you guys have guessed what it is by now," Alex said with a little chuckle as he strummed the guitar.
"But, it's called Remembering Sunday. Sing it if you know it," Alex murmured into his microphone, & he started playing.
"Why does he look so sad?" I asked.
"Him and Steph are going through a rough patch right now. I don't know what about, but it's not pretty," Jack said with a sigh. I turned to face him, & I pressed my lips to his, my right hand resting on his chest while the other was rested on the back of his neck. He slipped his hands in my back pockets, & I pulled away, looking over at Jackie who Zack was sitting next to as she watched Alex.
After Remembering Sunday, Cass came back to be wrapped in Rian's arms as Alex payed all his attention on the neck of his guitar.
"This next song reminds me of you guys. Sometimes, I ask myself during shows if you guys are still enjoying everything we do, & I can't help but think, 'am I going to fuck it up tonight?' But I continue to try my best, just for you guys, and you seem to enjoy it. This song is called Therapy, & I dedicate it to every single one of you in this room," Alex said, not once looking up from his guitar. The crowd cheered though, loudly at that, making him look up with a huge smile.
"I want you to sing it as loud as you can," Alex mumbled, & he started playing. I watched & listened intently, as I had never heard the song live or acoustic before. Jack rubbed his thumbs on my hip bones as Alex played the song fantastically. The song obviously meant a lot to Alex, & I'm sure him fighting with Steph didn't help him having to play it every night.

After the show, we all gathered back at the bus so the guys could be driven home, but I was having Jack grab his things now so I could drive him home myself; but not after we told them we're engaged.
"See you guys some other time, then," Alex said quietly, & I looked up at Jack.
"We actually... have an a-" I couldn't finish my sentence as there was a tug on my left hand that wasn't attached to Jack's. I was pulled to the left, being forced to let go of Jack's hand.
"Cass!" I huffed as I was sat down, hard.
"What the fuck is this!?" Cassadee asked as she forced my hand into her face. I felt my cheeks heat up as I met Jack's eyes.
"What's what?" Zack asked.
"It's a ring, Cass. Have you ever seen one before?" I teased. Jack switched Jackie onto his other hip as he continued to watch with an amused expression.
"I meant what kind of ring?" She asked with a huff.
"Give me my hand back and I'll tell you," I said with a smirk, but it disappeared when Jack spoke.
"Obviously it's an engagement ring," he said with a proud smile as Jackie rested her head on his shoulder.
"What!?" Cass asked, looking at the both of us. I stood up & approached Jack who kissed me sweetly.
"We're engaged, Cassadee," I said with a smile. She smiled as I looked around the room, meeting the excited faces of everyone, including Alex. Stephanie entered the front lounge with glistening tears in her eyes, & Alex's gaze fell on her, & he smiled at her.
"Alex... I think we need to postpone the wedding," she told him, & we all took in a collective gasp as he placed his hands on her hips.
"Why? Baby.. tell me why," he pleaded, eyes never leaving hers.
"Well.. for one thing.. I'd like to fit in my dress," she said with a sniff as she wiped under her eyes. Alex stared at her for a minute before his eyes slowly widened.
"You serious?" He asked quietly, and Stephanie nodded as she sniffed again. Alex took her into his arms hastily, & he hugged her tight, the look on his face bringing tears to my eyes. He closed his eyes tightly, & I noticed a single teardrop fall from his right eye.
"I fucking love you," he told her, and he lifted her up slightly before setting her back down on her feet. He pulled her away from all of us, & I looked around.
"That was adorable," I said, & they all agreed.
"Well, the three of us are off. See you later," Jack said, & we all said our goodbyes. Jack handed Jackie to me before picking up his suitcase, & he lead me off the bus, & we walked hand in hand to the car.
Tonight had been full of surprises.
