Chapter Thirty Three // Alex's POV
Trigger warning- small mention of scars.
Alex's POV:
The walk to the beach was filled with meaningless conversation. It was just mindless banter, really. The Baltimore sun was beating down on Jack and I, casting shadows on the pavement of our silhouette; two guys, one lanky, one kind of skinny, with their hands intertwined between them. I had a really good feeling about today.
"Man, I wish I had put shorts on now, I'm sweating balls here."
"Me too, Jay, me too."
It was true, I was really warm and I could feel myself sweating more as the minutes went by.
The beach was fairly crowded, yet it still seemed quiet and peaceful, the only distinct sound being the lapping of the waves on the sand. Jack had led me over to a less-crowded spot by a small collection of rocks- just perfect. We sat our selves down on the sand, our hands still linked together. We sat in silence for a while, just admiring the scene before us and smiling at the dogs playing in the water.
"Lex?"
Jack broke the silence. I hummed in response.
"I love you, you know? More than anything in the world. I can't see myself having a future without you. You're my everything and I just want you to be able to genuinely believe me one day when I say that you're beautiful and perfect. I don't care about your scars or anything like that, Lex, because you're stunning in my eyes and I wouldn't change on thing about you. I want you to know that. I love you."
Tears started to build up in my eyes. I just sat and stared at Jack, my mouth slightly agape.
"I love you too, Jay, with my entire being. I will believe it, one day. I honestly think I'm getting there though. Actually, no, scratch that. I know I'm getting there and it's all thanks to you and Jeff, but mainly you." Jack cracked a smile at that and chuckled slightly. "I can't see myself with anyone else either so, yeah. I love you, Jay, I really do, I just don't think I say it as often as I should."
Jack closed the distance between us, his hand cupping my cheek. Our lips brushed before connecting full again. It was like our first kiss all over again. Butterflies erupted in my stomach, an entire fireworks display was going off behind my eyelids. How a simple kiss can make me feel like this I really do not know but it's not something I want to come to and end. Ever. Unfortunately, it did end, but not on our own accord. An angry sounding cough brought us out of our little moment. I pulled back from the kiss and opened my eyes to face a middle-aged woman with a disgusted look on her face.
"Excuse me?"
Jack's voice held so much annoyance.
"My children, or anyone else's children for that matter, do not need to see that sort of disgusting behaviour."
Jack stood up, his height towering over the short, dumpy woman. Jack's fists were clenched by his sides, his body shaking slightly with anger. I stood up and grabbed his hand, he immediately relaxed at my touch.
"It's legal now, bitch. If you have a problem with it, I suggest you move somewhere else because me and my boyfriend aren't going anywhere just because of you and your homophobic bullshit."
Jack spat out every single word, I smiled internally, actually being proud of him for standing up for us because months ago, he would be the one having a problem with it.
"I don't appreciate being spoken to by a little faggot in that tone of voice. You should be ashamed of yourselves!"
I gripped Jack's hand, squeezing it slightly.
"Well, ma'am, if you think we should be ashamed of ourselves for simply being in love, then that's your opinion, but you might want to take a look at your own family first. I'm guessing the little boy in the blue shorts is yours due to the face that he looks like you? You might want to address him for kissing the boy in the red shorts merely a second ago."
I was quite pleased with myself for that. I wasn't bullshitting though, her son had literally just kissed another boy behind her back! Okay, he did look around the age of seven, but that doesn't matter. The angry woman started to walk away but spun around on her heals when I called after her.
"Oh and, Ma'am? Do you think we're ashamed now?"
I spun round to face Jack, who had a surprised expression etched on to his features. I grabbed Jack's face with both hands and crashed our lips together. Jack gasped, giving me the perfect opportunity to slide my tongue into his mouth. Jack had finally registered what I was doing and began to kiss back, smirking slightly. I heard the woman scoff before her angry footsteps faded away. I pulled Jack back down onto the sand below us, the kiss breaking as we both burst out into fits of giggles.
"I'm proud of you, Jay."
"Don't even say it, I know exactly what you're going to say and I'm proud of myself too. But I'm more proud of you because, honestly, what you said back there was pure gold!"
I laughed again, remembering how I'd totally just called her out using her own son. Even if I must say so myself, I'm proud of myself for that too.

It was now mid-afternoon and Jack and I were still on the beach, sat in the same spot. I'd only moved to go and buy the ice creams that we were both currently eating. I turned to face Jack next to me. I bit my lip, trying my best to stifle my laughter.
"Jay, you've, erm, got a bit of ice-cream on your, um, face."
Jack turned to look at me with an innocent look on his face. He was either totally oblivious to the treat around his mouth and on the tip of his nose or he was deliberately getting it there.
"Well, get it off then."
Jack was smirking now. Definitely, done deliberately.
I sat up and straddled him across his hips. I seductively ran my fingers along his, now bare, chest. Jack had to hold back a moan as one of my fingers grazed over his nipple.
"Leeeeex, not here."
"Fine then, but not later either because my ass still hurts."
I lent forwards and propped myself up on my elbows, our faces literally millimetres apart. I licked off the ice-cream from the tip of his nose and started to kiss all around Jack's mouth to get the remainder of the ice-cream off him. I went to go and kiss his lips. I hovered over them, our lips brushing together slightly. I decided to be a tease and pull back, lying back down on the sand next to a confused and very flustered looking Jack.
"Lex, you fucking tease."
I just smirked at him and went back to staring up at the clear blue sky above the world. This day has been beyond perfect.
