The City Comes Alive When We're Together

A month has passed since the end of our last tour, also the day I proposed to Megan. It still is hard to believe I'm actually marrying the girl who I love so much that I would do anything for. Also, she's 30 weeks along in the pregnancy, leaving us only 2 and a half months before the baby will be here. It just seems to be coming by so fast, and I can't even explain how excited I am to be with Megan and have our family together.
Today is Christmas, the day I get to celebrate with my family and friends. As I wait around my house with Megan for our friends to show up, we start sitting out the gifts for everyone under our tree along with making the food for dinner tonight and having it ready to eat. After we finish up, we wait in the living room patiently for someone to show up. I look at Megan smiling and pull her into a hug.
"Hey, I could've used a warning." She laughs. I begin to kiss her and it continues for a couple minutes until I eventually stop myself.
"I'm so happy to be marrying you." I say to her smiling.
"I'm happy to be marrying you." She says smiling back. Just then, the doorbell rings and when we answer it, Alex and Tay are at the door. They walk over to the tree and put their gifts under it when the doorbell rings again and we let in Rian and Cassadee. Everyone showed up minutes within each other. Shortly after Rian and Cassadee was Zack and Katie, and after them a bunch of the family was here, Megan's included. It still confuses me that as much as they're here for her, they don't want her living with them. Not that I'm not happy with Megan here, but still.
As soon as everyone shows up, we start to have our dinner and then the conversation of all conversations is brought to everyone's attention.
"Jack, aren't you and Megan getting your own place soon?" Alex asks us. Now, us 8 in the clique had discussed it in the privacy of our own rooms, but not in front of everyone else, with the exception of our parents. So I guess now would be the time to do it.
"Um, yeah. My parents are going to help us. We already have a place, but we're not moving in there till after the New Years." I explain. Shockingly, everyone was interested in the topic. No one thought it was going too fast or that it was weird we'd be living on our own at 19.
After we finish eating, we all walk over to tree and begin to open all of our gifts for each other. Megan got a lot of stuff for the baby and some things for herself as well, which all in all made her and I that much more excited to be on our own, married with our baby. I got a lot of things that were for my guitars and just simple things that were either given to me for the laughs, or just for every day life.
After everyone finished with gifts, we hung out for a little while and just talked.
"So, my little brother's having a baby!" May yells in excitement. "That's so cute!" She then runs up and hugs both Megan and I causing everyone to smile and laugh.
"Ok May, you can calm down now." I laugh.
"Ok, but I better see this baby a lot." May jokes.
"Of course you will." Megan smiles. After a couple hours of just sharing some laughs, everyone heads home. After we help my parents clean up from everyone being over, Megan and I head upstairs and go to bed for the night.
A week passes and it's New Years Eve. Today, just our pals were going to be coming over. When the time came for them to show up, they were all the door within minutes of each other, just like Christmas. To kill time before the New Years, we all head upstairs to my room and chat.
"So, you had said you guys were moving after New Years. How soon after New Years are you guys moving?" Alex asks us.
"Um, we're going to try and start packing things up tomorrow, which won't take much time but since we have to go pick up all the furniture before we move in, it could be a couple of weeks before we're actually in there." I explain to them.
"Are you guys excited to be moving out on your own?" Katie asks.
"Um, pretty well excited I guess. Well at least I am." Megan answers. "I mean, as much as I love Jack's parents, I don't want to drive them crazy with a baby you know?"
"Of course. How about you Jack?" Rian asks me.
"Well, I am definitely excited. I mean I have to say exactly what Megan said. Plus, the idea of being out on my own, as exciting as it is, is also a little scary. It's going to be weird for sure." I responds.
"Aww, I'm so excited for you guys!" Cassadee squeals. "I'm sure you guys will do fine in the home and your baby will be perfect."
"Yeah, I mean only 2 more months. That really came by fast." Tay adds.
"Yeah it did. I feel huge." Megan laughs. "She's constantly moving around and I'm always trying to not run into anything and it's just insane."
"Have you guys decided a name yet?" Zack asks us.
"Not yet. We're still thinking about it. For all I know, we may not think of a name till she's actually here." I tell them.
"Well, I'm sure whatever you guys decide, it'll be a good one." Alex says. "I'm so happy for the both of you."
"Thanks, bro." I respond. After a few more conversations, it comes time for us to head downstairs and celebrate the New Year. As soon as we get downstairs, my mom begins to poor the sparkling cider in cups for all of us and we walk over to the TV and begin watching the New Year Ceremony.
"3, 2, 1." The announcers on the TV yell right before fireworks start up. I look over at Megan and give her a few kisses for good luck for our year together, while Alex and the other guys kiss their girls as well. We toast our sparkling cider and spend the rest of the night celebrating until everyone goes home and we head to bed.
