The City Comes Alive When We're Together
Another Special Tour

A little over a month has passed and I'm 26 weeks along. Today is my birthday and today is also the day of the boys' hometown show for their current tour. I haven't seen them since they left for the tour, and I miss all of them very much. Luckily, it is their last show for a while and I won't have to go without them for a while, if ever.
As soon as I got up, I instantly got ready to head to the venue. I am beyond excited to see the boys again because it has seriously been too long. That's when I get a phone call from Jack.
"Hey." I say answering the phone. "What are you guys up to?"
"We just pulled up to the venue. You on your way here yet?" He asks me. He sounds beyond happy and excited, though I will never know if it's because they're playing their hometown show or if it's because he's talking about seeing me again.
"I haven't left yet, no, but I'm about to be. So, I'll be there in about an hour." I tell him. "Is that ok?"
"Yeah, that's fine." He answers in a happy tone. "I've got to go. We have to get things set for the signing and the meet and greets that are in a few hours.."
"Ok, I love you." I say getting ready to hang up.
"I love you too, happy birthday baby." He says as we hang up the phone. Now that I am done getting ready, I am walking out to the car to start heading towards the venue. Once I get in the car, I throw on some music and head for the road.
As my songs play, it comes to the song For Baltimore by the boys. When it comes to the chorus, "I don't wanna say goodnight. The city comes alive when we're together, why can't Thursday last forever?" I start to realize how much I have missed them and how much this song reminds me of Jack and I.
After almost 2 long hours in the car, I am finally pulling up to the venue. After I get out of the car, I start to walk towards their bus and knock on the bus doors. I start to feel myself get flushed from nerves. I can't wait to see them again. I look up when I hear the doors slide open and I am instantly plastered with a hug.
"Megan, it's so good to see you!" Alex yells squeezing me tight. "We've missed you! Come in!" He grabs my hand and pulls me onto the bus and sits me down.
"Where's Jack?" I ask him.
"Bathroom." He tells me. "He'll be out soon." After a little over a minute, I hear the bathroom door open and out walks Jack. I look up at him and instantly smile, waiting for him to notice me while he pulls something out of his bunk. After a few seconds, he looks over and notices me staring. Instantly, a smile beams on his face and he comes running to me, sits by me on the couch and hugs me really tight, to the point where I feel like I almost can't breathe.
"Baby! I've missed you." He yells as he pulls away, giving me a few kisses in excitement. "How are you feeling?"
"Well, other than in shock, I'm fine." I say. "Seriously, it feels so weird to be on the bus again." Just then, an unfamiliar person walks into the front area with Evan. I then look over at Jack with a confused look and point to the other person.
"Oh, that's Jeff, our lighting guy. He's the one you didn't get to meet at Warped Tour." He tells me.
"Hey, you must be Megan." Jeff says.
"Yeah, I am." I answer. "It's nice to finally meet you." I smile.
"Same to you." He responds. "Evan and I have to go set up the sound and lighting so it's ready. We'll be back." They both walk off of the bus and head their way. A couple hours pass and it's time for us to go into the venue. We do our best to get into the venue without being attacked by fans, and we succeed. Once we get directed backstage and get comfortable, the guys all get up and start to walk out.
"Where you going?" I ask them.
"We have to go to the signing and the meet and greet." Rian tells me. "We'll be back soon. Just hang with the crew or other bands for now."
"Ok." I answer as they leave the room. For a while I am sitting here quietly until at some point I hear someone come up to me.
"Hey, who are you?" The voice asks out of curiosity. I look up and right before me Brian Dales of The Summer Set, one of the bands who is opening for them tonight. I instantly smile and do a good job of not making myself look like an idiot.
"I'm Megan, Jack's girlfriend." I tell him. "I didn't think I would see you. But what am I thinking you know?" I laugh because once I realized what I said, I realized how dumb I was thinking I wouldn't see anyone else who was famous.
"It's all good. You going to watch our set?" He asks me.
"Sure, I love you guys." I answer.
"Good, see you then." He says. "I have to go do some things before we play, but it was nice meeting you." He then walks out of the room. Minutes later the guys are back into the room. I tell them about how I met Brian and how I can't believe all the people I've been meeting because of them, though the Brian part wasn't planned.
"Well, the show starts in an hour so we've got some time to chill." Zack tells me.
"Well, Brian asked if I was going to watch them so I said I would." I say.
"Yeah, we could do that." Jack says. "We just stand alongside the stage, and I'll go with you."
"Sweet." I answer.
After an hour, it's time for the show to start and as the first band The Downtown Fiction goes on, another band I love, I tell them good luck and watch as they go on stage causing the crowd to cheer and get excited. As I watch them play, with Jack holding my hand I start to think about some things. I start to realize that without Jack, all of these surreal things that I experience wouldn't be happening. Sure I'd be at these shows, but would I be backstage? Not a chance.
"I see the sun still shines when you're not around. I'm taking it easy in the west part of town." Cameron sings and instantly I get excited and start clapping along to it with the crowd. He continues to sing Thanks For Nothing, one of my favorites. I sang along to the whole song in excitement. Before I know it, they're at the last song of their set, and it happens to be their famous hit, I Just Wanna Run. I sing along to this as well. When he gets to the second verse, I still sing along.
"I'm sick of feeling cheap, cheated and abused. Sick of losing sleep, thinking about you." He then points over at me. I look over at Jack.
"Did you see that?" I scream.
"Yes, I did." He smiles, kissing me on the cheek. As soon as they finish the song, they walk off stage and head backstage, and we follow. I tell them how well they did and how I loved that he pointed at me during the song. We decide to lay around take a break while the next band, Hit The Lights performs. Before I knew it, it was time to watch The Summer Set. Before I can even get a chance to get up and head towards the side of the stage, someone walks up to me.
"So, Brian said you were going to watch us?" The voice says. "We're about to play, are you still going to watch?" I look up and it's John. Dang, I just really seem to be getting all the band members' attention today.
"Yeah, I was about to get up and watch you guys." I smile. Jack and I get up and follow John and the rest of The Summer Set to the stage. I give them good luck as they walk on stage and the crowd goes more wild than I think they have been all night.
They start the show with Chelsea, a song that has always been one of my favorites. It's hard for me to stand here backstage and not dance around and look like an idiot. Their set goes by really fast, and they're approximately halfway through it when they get to their song Someone Like You. As he sings it, Jack is holding my hands and slowly dancing with me. Then the chorus comes, "My girl, I'd cross the whole world. For someone like you oh oh, no matter where I go, oh oh my unpredictable, girl. You're impossible girl, you know that it's true. Oh, oh no matter what you do, I'd cross the world for someone like you." As he sang it, Jack sang it to me softly. I smile huge as he gives me a kiss on the cheek.
