A couple months have passed and it's now October. Megan is now 20 weeks along. Today is the day that we attend the appointment in which we find out the sex of the baby.
Luckily, I get to find out before I head out on tour for the fall with the guys. I wish Megan could go, but she said it's best she stays home since she has to keep consistant with her appointments and also wants to be able to spend time getting used to the idea of the baby but that she will go to the hometown show.
After Megan and I get dressed, we head out to go to the doctor's office for the appointment. As we are driving towards the appointment, I grab Megan's hand and hold it close. Words can't express how excited I am for this appointment. Minutes later, we are pulling up to the doctor's office and walking into the waiting room. After we get Megan signed in, we sit down and wait to be called back.
Once we get called back, I walk up next to Megan after she lays back on the table. I watch as the obstytrician puts the ultra sound gel and rubs it around on her belly. Seconds later, a picture comes up on the sonogram and instantly I smile.
"Here's the baby's spine." The ob says as she goes over body parts. From spine, to tummy, to toes, I start to smile wide from the excitement. I never thought I would be this happy over a picture of a small baby. After a few moments, she shuts off the sonogram and looks at us.
"Would you guys like to know the sex?" She asks us smiling.
"Of course." Megan answers looking at me. I then look at the ob and wait for a response. It's quiet for a few seconds that feel like minutes before we get a response.
"It's a girl." I start to smile and realize I can't stop. I look over and see Megan smiling in excitement, almost like she's tearing up. That's when I suddenly developed the feeling I never thought I would. I love Megan, and I love this baby. They both are the world to me, and that will never change.
"I'm having a daughter." I say, still smiling wide. After we go home, the guys, along with the girls, come to my place to hang out.
"So, what did you guys find out today?" Tay asks us.
"Yeah, didn't you guys go to your appointment today?" Alex asks putting his arm around Tay.
"Yes, we did. We got to see the baby, and it was extremely small and cute." Megan tells them smiling. I love the amount of excitement she has as she talks about the baby.
"Did you get to find out what you're having?" Katie asks looking at Megan with a huge smile.
"Um, yeah we did actually." Megan answers.
"What did they say it was?" Zack asks. They all seemed to be into this conversation.
"Do you want to tell them?" Megan asks as she looks at me, and I nod.
"We're having a girl." I tell them, smiling yet again, but trying to act calm and not show too much excitement.
"Oh my God, how exciting!" Cassadee shouts. "A little girl, how cute!" Cassadee has always been the one to get overly excited over things like this.
"So, how do you feel about that Jack?" Rian asks me. "Having a daughter? You going to be overprotective?" Then everyone starts to laugh.
"I'm not sure. I guess we'll have to see." I laugh along. We continue to chat until everyone goes home, our family has dinner, and Megan and I go to bed.
