*Jack*
As I'm walking back to my house from visiting Megan, thoughts and images start to pop into my head. I start to see images of Megan and I in our future with the baby. The thought that I'm going to be a father at the age of 18, and I begin to think about everything Megan and I have been through together. That's when I realize that I might've been too calm when I was talking to Megan. I start to stress out from all the thoughts, so I text Alex, Zack and Rian.
(Meet me at my house in a few minutes. I need your advice about something important.)
They all respond saying that they will be over shortly, which is fine since I'm still not there yet. Minutes later, I am walking into my house and I instantly head up for my room. I lay on my bed as the thoughts and images continue to roam in my mind. After a few minutes, I hear someone walking up the stairs and that's when I see Alex, Zack and Rian all coming up the stairs. Good thing they all came at the same time, that way I don't have to keep repeating what I have to tell them.
"Hey bro. What's going on?" Alex asks me as they all sit on the end of my bed.
"Megan." I look up and they all have a confused look on their face. "She just called me a little bit ago and wanted me to meet her outside her house, so I did. Then she told me that she found that she was pregnant."
"So, how do you feel about that?" Zack asks me.
"I don't know. When she told me, it didn't seem all that bad. In fact, I was excited almost. I was all calm to her and supportive and made her feel better, but now that I've thought about it, I'm not sure if either of us are ready to take care of a baby." I explain. "So, I'm not exactly sure what to do."
"Well, what did you tell her?" Alex asks.
"That we'll get through it and to look at it positively. Then she started saying what if about all these different things involving Doomerz, so I told her not to worry that we would keep her safe so he couldn't hurt her, and she was worried I will eventually change my mind, and I said I won't and that I want to be with her for the rest of my life and then she had to get going so I left."
"Well, I would honestly just do what you told her you would. Be there for her, I mean I know it's a scary thought now but it's just like you said. You guys will get through it, and everything will be ok. If you guys ever need anything, we're here." Rian explains. "Do her parents know? Do your parents know?"
"Mine don't, I don't know if hers do. I'm sure she'll tell them eventually." I answer. "I mean, it's not like she can keep it from them forever."
"For sure. When do you plan on telling your parents?" Alex responds.
"I don't know, probably tonight or within the next couple days. I want to be able to have their support and also be able to tell Megan that she'll have their support." I answer.
"Yeah, great plan." Zack says.
"Thanks guys. I really needed this talk." I tell them.
"For sure, bro." Alex answers giving me a bro hug. We all hang out for a couple hours before they head home for the night. I lay around thinking about nothing but Megan and the baby. It still just doesn't seem real to me.
"Dinner's ready!" My mom yells from downstairs. I get up and start to head downstairs. Maybe I should tell them what's going on. When I get downstairs, I serve myself a plate and sit at the table and begin to eat as we all are sitting there eating in silence.
"You ok, Jack?" My mother asks me. "You're really quiet."
"Yeah, I'm really stressed out." I answer. "Just thinking a lot."
"What about?" She responds. "You can tell me."
"Megan's pregnant." I start to explain. "I was calm about it when I talked to her, but now I'm nervous. What if I can't raise the baby? What if I'm a bad father? The possiblity that I might not be able to raise the baby well scares me."
"Oh wow." My mom says shocked. "Well, how is she feeling about the whole thing? Jack, I'm sure you'll do fine. I will tell you that having a baby is scary, especially your first baby. Your father, sister, brother and I are here for the both of you if you need help, and I'm sure her family will be too."
"Thanks, mom." I sigh under my breath. "You're right, it is scary. I just hope things will go well."
"They will, I'm sure." She answers. "Just get through graduation, then you guys can worry all about the baby and nothing else."
"Yeah, I guess." I say. "Well, I just wanted to tell you guys about that. Thanks for the support."
"Anytime, Jack." My dad pops in. "She seems like a sweet girl, and I'm sure you guys can get through this. With everything else she's been through, I'm sure this will be the least of them."
"For sure." I answer. I finish my dinner and head upstairs to my room for the night and decide to go to sleep since I have school tomorrow morning.
