The City Comes Alive When We're Together

Move Out

*Megan*
I wake up and get myself ready for school quicker than I ever have before. I don't know why, but I'm really excited to go to school today. Maybe because this last couple weeks are going to go fast since we aren't doing much with graduation being around the corner. I sit on my couch patiently waiting for Jack to come pick me up. It wasn't long before he was knocking on the door to show he was here. I get up and grab my backpack, open the door and walk out of my house.
"Hey, baby girl." Jack says giving me a kiss as we walk up to his car.
"Hey." I smile. We get into his car, and start to drive towards school.
"So, I talked to my parents last night." Jack states.
"Yeah, what about?" I ask.
"About how we're having a baby." He answers. He seems way more into this than I am. I will admit that I'm excited to see the baby at some point, but unlike him, I'm nerve wracked about this since we're still young.
"Yeah, and what did they say?" I ask him.
"Just that they're here for us and hope that your parents are too." He responds.
"Ok, good." I answer. We pull up to the school and get out of the car. He opens my door, grabs my hand and we walk up to the school. Jack also told me that he told the guys about the baby as well. Turns out he's a little nervous too and asked for their advice.
When I get to second period, I sit next to the three girls, Tay, Cassadee and Katie. Apparently they've always been in my classes, but I never noticed before. Shortly after prom, they all started dating each other. It was exactly like I wanted. I wanted Alex, Zack and Rian to have girlfriends so I didn't have to feel like I was leaving them out anymore.
"So, what's going on?" Cassadee asks as I sit down. "You look tired."
"Yeah, I didn't sleep very well." I answer. "I had a long, hard and stressful day yesterday."
"Why, what's up?" Tay asks me.
"Well, so as you guys know I've been feeling sick and that I missed my period." I start to explain. "I decided to take a pregnancy test yesterday and-" That's when I get interrupted.
"So, how'd that go?" Katie asks with a smile on her face. "Are you pregnant?" Now let me add we were talking only loud enough for the four of us to hear what's going on. I definitely don't want anyone to overhear anything.
"Yes. That's why I was up all night." I respond. "I'm nervous and don't know what I'm going to do. Apparently Jack's parents are there for me. I'm just scared, because what if my parents aren't supportive?"
"Well, that's good that Jack's parents are supportive." Tay says. "And from what we've been told so are the guys."
"Yeah, they are." I answer. "But what if my parents aren't? I mean they could totally kick me out if they wanted to."
"I'm sure they won't and even if they do, we're all here for you." Cassadee smiles. "If for whatever reason they kick you out, I'm sure one of us will be able to take you in."
"Thanks guys." I answer. We continue to talk throughout the rest of class. The day goes by really fast and before I know it, I'm home from school. I decide that tonight's the night I'm going to tell my parents everything. I am extremely nervous about it, but I have to eventually. As we're eating dinner I look at my parents.
"I need to talk to you guys in private after dinner." They agree to it and we all finish up eating. The kids go upstairs and my parents follow me to my room.
"So, what's going on?" My dad asks. "You don't usually talk to us in private. Is something wrong?"
"Well, yes. I just need to tell you guys something important and I really hope you guys are supportive of what I have to say." I explain.
"Of course we'll be supportive." My mom answers smiling. "We're your parents and we'll support you no matter what. I mean come on, how bad can it be?"
"Um, I'm pregnant." I answer nervously. "You'll be supportive about that?"
"Wait, youre what?!" My dad yells. "When did this happen?!"
"A month ago, after prom, the night while I was at Jack's house." As my dad sits there in obvious anger, my mom talks to me.
"I thought we told you to be safe." My mom says with anger. "What happened to that?"
"I don't know mom, we weren't thinking, I-" I start to explain but then my dad interrupts.
"Obviously not! You were too busy thinking about fucking your boyfriend like all teenagers do, and that's why you're in this position." My dad yells. I start to tear up, which is a natural reaction from my dad's yelling. "And that's exactly why I think you shouldn't be having sex at this age."
"I'm sorry I wasn't thinking! I love him! We've been through so much and it sort of just happened!" I start yelling under my tears.
"Well, I'm sorry Megan, but if you're going to have this baby, you can't live here." My mom says upset. "As much as we want to help you, we just can't. There's no money for anything here and we just can't help you."
"I thought you would support me through everything!" I yell. "Christ you're my parents. If that's how you really feel, than get out of my room so I can pack and get out of here!" They sit there in silence for a minute before they get up and walk out of the room.
"I'm sorry." My mom says quietly as she walks out. I slam myself onto my bed in tears. I can't believe my parents really feel this way.
