Jack woke up because of coughing and gagging sounds coming from his bathroom. He groaned and rolled over to his side. It was already set last night that most likely Alex will feel sick. He drank too much, considering it was his first time drinking.

He sat up on his bed, placing feet on the cold floor and looked at his phone. 6:08. It’s too early but he can’t go to Alex and say “hey, maybe you can do this later. I kind of want to sleep.”. He would totally understand if Alex would punch him in the face then.

He pulled on some questioningly clean shirt and walked to the bathroom. Just as expected Alex was crouching next to the toilet, vomiting his guts out. He was wearing only boxers that Jack lent him last night, and as Jack walked closer he could see goose bumps covering his hands and back. He had learned that his apartment wasn’t the nicest place in the late fall.

“Do you need something?” he quietly asked, when Alex looked up at him with red eyes.

“Fuck off and let me die,” Alex grumbled, shivering.

As Jack turned around, ready to leave the bathroom and get Alex at least a shirt to wear, Alex released his wings, successfully covering his freezing body, “okay, do you really don’t need anything?”

“Some sweat pants might be good,” he said, before leaning over the toilet and starting his cycle all over again.

“Okay, coming right over,” Jack said and left Alex and the bathroom.

He rushed in his bedroom, rummaged through his closet and found a pair of definitely clean sweat pants. Black, soft, with two pockets, not that Alex will need them, but Jack loved those sweat pants and because of his newly admitted feelings [at least he’d admitted them to himself and Rian] he thought that Alex and those sweat pants will look perfect together. Lame, but everyone acts lame when they love someone.

“Here,” he handed those loveable sweat pants to Alex, “you won’t feel your legs if you continue to sit on this floor.”

“It’s not that bad with them,” Alex moved his wings as to showing Jack what he meant by what he said, but took the pants from Jack anyway, “how do I get this feeling out of me?” he asked Jack, while stepping in his pants and trying not to destroy his small bathroom with his wings.

“Just keep doing what you’re doing. And water might help.”

“Might?” Alex flushed the toilet and pushed past Jack to get to the sink.

“It doesn’t help to everyone. Rian can’t live on these days without tomato juice, I need some kind of soda, but water is good too. I’m not as picky as Rian.”

“Eeeww, tomato juice! That thing is gross!” he picked up a glass, filled it with water and took few sips of it, “let’s just hope that this thing helps me.”

“Umm…you want to sleep some more or…”

“You want to talk to me?” even if it was a question, to Jack it still sounded more of a statement and he couldn’t shake off the feeling that Alex had heard and remembered everything he talked to Rian last night.

“Umm, yeah, kind of. But if you want to sleep and don’t feel that well, we can do it later,” Jack knew that he needs to talk to Alex. Not just because Rian said he has to, but because he felt it too. He couldn’t keep living like he’d been living for the past week, hiding from Alex in other room, avoiding him and running away from apartment every time there were just no more place to hide from him.

“No. I don’t think I can be in horizontal position right now, so talking sounds good,” he refilled his glass with more water and left bathroom before Jack.

Jack smiled to himself at Alex’s statement – horizontal position. Who says that! But that also made Jack feel kind of warm and happy and that made him want to talk to Alex more than he wanted before. Before that he considered possibility of running away, but now…he just needed to let it out. He needs to talk to Alex and he needs to ask him a lot of questions. Well, maybe not a lot, for now he could think of two questions but they weren’t any less important.

“Okay, what is it?” Alex sat cross legged on Jack’s bed, wings securely wrapped around his body and Jack could make out a glass hidden behind those wings in a tight grip of Alex’s fingers.

“Okay. I don’t know where to start from.”

“Start from the beginning,” Alex grinned, remembering his own first real conversation with Jack those months ago. Jack glared at him, but thought that maybe he could try with it. The beginning.

“Right, so. I’m not gonna lie that you seemed pretty attractive to me from the first time I saw you at the park. Actually you were more attractive than any other guy I have ever met. And remember that that’s the time I thought you were crazy stalker,” he smiled at Alex and received a weak smile back, “I don’t know where it started and when I started to realize it but…the thing I said the other day is true.”

“Which other day you mean? Yesterday, the day before that, last week or last month? The other day can mean a lot of days, Jack,” Alex smirked and they both knew that Alex knows what Jack’s talking about and all he wanted was to tease him, but Jack let him.

“That day last week when you helped me with that essay,” he said to his fingers.

“You can look at me, you know. I don’t bite. Kind of,” he grinned at Jack when he lifted his eyes up to look at Alex.

“And you are the one with hangover,” Jack mumbled, hating how beautiful Alex looked. He had never in his life seen any other human being who can look so good with hangover. But then again, Alex wasn’t any other human being and that was proven by his big wings, whose feathers were lightly brushing against Jack’s legs.

“But that doesn’t mean I can’t tease you. I know what that does to you, but keep going. I won’t do that again,” he said with a straight face.

“Okay, so that day when I said that…that I love you…I meant it and not because you helped me or some other shit I tried to say to you, but…I really meant it,” he looked in to Alex’s chocolate like eyes, hoping that he won’t get rejected or laughed at or ignored. Even though it would be hard to ignore something like that, but Jack was sure that if Alex would want to ignore that, he would find a way.

“I know,” he mumbled, staring at the glass of water in his hands, hidden behind his wings.

“You know?” really? And Jack has been stressing around only to hear him say – I know? That’s not fair!

“Yeah, I can feel it.”

“And you didn’t say anything?”

“How could I say that I know you love me if you tried to deny it. You needed to admit it to yourself first, so it was not my place to go and tell you that.”

“Right,” that kind of made sense, but still, “how did you know that?”

“Well, we’ll start with the fact that you’re terrible at hiding it. Second – you are terrible at trying to cover it up once you’ve said it. And third is that I just feel it. Like, not because you’re terrible at hiding it or something but…I feel it. It’s hard to explain.”

“Angel stuff?”

“Yeah, you can say it like that,” Alex averted his eyes from the glass and looked at Jack, “so, you have questions?”

“I’m not gonna ask how you know that but yeah, I have.”

“You always have questions.”

“Soo, is this like…possible? Allowed?”

“As much as I know it’s a rare thing. Mostly because angels and humans don’t see each other that much. Well, they didn’t at least, but now it’s kind of…possible.”

“But is it allowed?”

“If it’s happening then it should be allowed.”

“But…you’re okay with it? With me…loving you?” it was hard for him to say it, but the genuine smile on Alex’s face made him feel better.

“Jack, there’s something you need to understand,” oh god, he’s going to say that he doesn’t feel anything, that he doesn’t think that way of him and that he’s just his angel and nothing more, “just because our bond was broken, doesn’t mean I don’t feel anything. Like I said, I did feel that you love me. At first I didn’t understand that your feelings are towards me, but when I started to feel something, I knew that it must be me, because I didn’t feel anything towards Rian and he was the only person I had met besides you.”

“What does Rian has to do with this?” Jack’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“Oh god,” Alex sighed and put the glass down on the Jack’s bedside table, “we, angels, find our life partner’s only when our human has found their…true love. That’s why we don’t built any relationships before that happens, we just know that it won’t last. So, long story short, but when I started to feel something towards you…I was freaked out because I knew that…no, that’s the wrong way to explain this,” he shook his head, “when our human finds their true love, we find ours. We start to feel these…as you people call, butterflies or something along those lines…so we find our life partner. What happened here is a rare thing because, as I said, we don’t meat that often to let this happen so…if angel starts to fell something towards his human that means…that his human loves him…I’m your true love and…you’re my life partner,” he whispered the last part as if he would be ashamed of it.

“Okay,” Jack said slowly, trying to process everything Alex just told him, “You just don’t know how to stop surprising me, do you?”

“I wasn’t trying to surprise you, it’s just how it works…” he silenced himself when he saw smile on Jack’s face, “oh, okay. I’ll just shut up now.”

“So, what I make out of this is that…you feel the same way?” Jack cocked his head to one side as a dog would do, looking at his owner.

“Yeah, you can say that,” Alex whispered.

“Great,” he whispered back and leaned closer to Alex, “just, please, don’t hit me with those wings or something,” he mumbled, before closing those few millimeters between their lips by pushing them together.

He carefully brushed the tips of his fingers over Alex’s wings, before settling them in his hair. What he didn’t expect was for Alex’s wings to wrap around his body, pulling him closer and for the first time feeling their strength. He was sure, that those wings could do so much more, but for now all he could think was how warm they felt, how warm and soft felt Alex’s lips and the fact that he wasn’t wearing a shirt, so he moved his fingers from his hair and lightly brushed them over his bare chest and settled them on his hips.

“I still feel like dying, so fuck off,” Alex laughed, pushing Jack’s hands away and releasing him from the grip of his wings, “can I sleep here?” he asked, looking at Jack with those puppy like eyes that he could pull off so well.

“Yeah, sure, but don’t expect me to keep my hands to myself then,” he chuckled and watched as Alex pushed his legs under his blanket, while wrapping his wings around his torso.

“You know, you can come and lie down with me,” Alex opened one eye and looked at Jack expectantly.

“Mhm, just don’t push me out of bed or hit me with those wings,” he crawled closer to Alex and pulled back the comforter so he could lie down.

“They’re not as bad as you make them sound,” Alex mumbled, feeling Jack’s closeness and trying to understand if those butterflies in his stomach was because of Jack or because he still felt sick.
