Little voice deep down in Jack’s mind said that he’s acting like a total creep, but there was nothing he could do about it. Alex just looked so perfect while still asleep. Not that he didn’t look perfect when he was awake, but this was just different. For once Jack was able to look at him without getting caught by Alex. Finally he was able to follow every line on Alex’s body with his eyes. He took as much time as possible by just staring at his face. At his lips, his closed eyes, those long eyelashes, his nose. He was sure that he spent at least ten minutes staring at his wings. Letting his gaze follow every feather he could see and wondering if they had down like birds had. He couldn’t even stop himself from staring at Alex’s hands that weren’t hidden by his wings. He let his eyes travel over each of his fingers and if that’s not creepy then I don’t know what is.

With a sigh and mentally slapping himself for being such a creep he got up from bed, where he’d been sitting for last twenty or so minutes, and quietly left room. He was starting to feel how empty his stomach felt and he understood, and from what he’d learned, Alex needed more sleep. And when he’ll get up Jack probably will be finished with food so Alex will get it too.

Alex will get anything from Jack. Jack just didn’t know it. He didn’t even need to say anything and Jack already run were Alex wanted him to run, or buy whatever Alex wanted. Even letting him sleep more was part of Alex telling him that he wants to sleep. The same with food. It seems obvious to Jack, but he just doesn’t understand how easy it is for Alex to play with him. Not that it’s allowed for angels to do that to their human but it can’t hurt anyone.

“Mmm, this smells nice,” Alex’s sleep filled voice reached Jack just as he reached for two plates, “what is it?”

“Pancakes.”

“Really?”

“What? You think I don’t know how to make pancakes?” as much as he tried to sound offended, he just couldn’t. Not when he was talking to Alex.

“No, I know you can. I just never thought that they would smell so good.”

“So that was a compliment then,” Jack handed one plate to Alex, who still looked incredibly good despite his still messy hair and big t-shirt he had found.

“Take that as you want,” Alex grinned, taking plate from Jack and sitting down on the couch.
For next ten or so minutes they stayed quiet, Jack throwing quick glance at Alex’s direction.

First one to start talking was Alex, of course, “so how are you feeling?”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, about… this thing between us. If you want you want to call it that way. Or are you even comfortable with that idea of us being…like together.”

“Yeah, I’m not gonna lie that I completely freaked out, but I’m surprisingly okay with this.”

“Good, because I was worried about you. I still am. Just because you’re okay with this now doesn’t mean you’ll be okay after few months.”

Jack stopped chewing on his pancakes and looked at Alex like he would see him for the first time.

“You didn’t expect this will end, did you?” Alex looked at him with worried expression.

“I didn’t think that far,” he muttered, looking down at his plate.

“You never do,” Alex chuckled, “I won’t leave like he left you. You didn’t deserve that. No one deserves to be left like that.”

“I hate how much you know about me,” Jack whined, seriously hating how much Alex knew about him.

“That’s my duty. But still he had no right to do that to you! He came to the hospital every day hoping that you would’ve woken up so he could break up with you! If he wanted to leave you he could’ve waited and not make it look so desperate!”

“Alex, please stop. Don’t talk about him.”

“Yeah, fine. Sorry. I just really hate him.”

“Mhm,” he put down his plate on the small coffee table and turned to look at Alex, “how did it affect you? That car crash and that time I was…you know…in coma…”

“The crash was horrible. I seriously felt like every bone in my body would break. If I remember correctly it was harder to breath too, but that wasn’t for too long time,” he looked out of the window, trying to remember every detail of that day, “I think I fainted, because I woke up in my room and I had no idea how I got there, I remember my mom was there and she was crying because she thought I won’t wake up. Those first weeks of your coma was bad but then I started to feel better so I knew that you’re getting better and that you will be fine.”

“And do you remember much about few months before that crash?”

“You still don’t remember?”

“Some fragments but I’m not sure if that is from those months. So you remember?” he looked at Alex with hopeful eyes.

“A little bit. It’s all blurry but I remember stuff.”

“Can you tell me? Please?”

“I guess I can, but I won’t include any of those things you and Cristopher did!” Alex laughed.
The next hour they spent siting on Jack’s old couch, Alex telling everything he remembered and Jack sometimes saying “I remember that!” or “I knew I didn’t imagine that,” and asking questions to Alex about little details he just wanted to make sure of, make sure he remembered correctly.

“When you said that you hate how much I know about you…”

“I know, I know. You know me a lot longer than I know you, you’re my angel and you’re supposed to know everything.”

“Yeah, but that’s not what I wanted to say,” Alex leaned closer to Jack, his back against his front, and took his hand in his. They were kind of watching tv but none of them knew what exactly was on, “what I meant was that you can ask me. Everything you want to know. Isn’t that how relationships work?” he felt Jack’s fingers tense in his hand, “sorry, call whatever you want it, but you get the idea. Just ask.”

“And now I have no idea of what to ask,” he chuckled. There were always questions he wanted to ask, but when Alex said just ask he had no idea what he even wanted to ask before.

“I have time.”

“Mhm…just tell me about yourself.”

“You already know that it’s best to let me sleep and feed me regularly and then I’m good. I’m an only child, I’m kind of a romantic type when it comes to relationship. Just so you know and…”

“How can you know how you are in a relationship if you’ve never done that?”

“I never said that.”

“You said that most angels don’t bother with relationship before this love and life partner thing.”

“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t done that. Well, it wasn’t real relationship, we didn’t bother that much,” he squeezed Jack’s fingers lightly, “I was romantic sap even then. And those weren’t real relationships so I guess I might be even worse with you. If you ever decide to call this thing a relationship.”

“So you were with someone, huh? Who was he? Or she?”

“Like you would know,” Alex laughed, “but he. He was he. Met him at school, we had a project together and we just made our own project,” he smirked, remembering everything.
“Your own project. As if…”

“Equally disgusting as you and Cristopher did, yes.”

“I did not want to know that!”

“I know everything you’ve done so you deserve a bit of my dirty secrets,” he turned his head as much as possible to look at Jack and smirk at his horrified and disgusted expression.

“Change of topic – you’re schools are probably totally different from ours.”

“I wouldn’t say totally different but there is a difference. Like, we have math and English and those things that you just need to know but we don’t have classes like music. Who needs that! I mean it is cool, but not for school!”

“So what is different then?”

“We have a lot of angel-human classes. About first interactions, who was first angel and its human, how our minds work compared to yours, things about our bond and… I have something to tell you,” Jack could feel how nervous Alex felt as he released his hand and sit up so he could face him.

“You were telling me thing before too, what’s so important about this?”

“It’s about my wings…I didn’t tell you the truth about them.”

“How can you not tell the truth about your wings?”

“Originally they’re not mine. No! They are mine but not…I had different wings before, these are…these wings are my mark. I’m a fallen angel and…They do this to anyone who doesn’t follow the rules, but those rules were stupid! You needed to know about what was going to happen so I needed to come here and leave you that message, but I got stuck and the elder had warned us about it, he said that we shouldn’t come here, but I did and then they did this to me and sent me here few days before our worlds collided.”

“What? How…how do they even…what did your…other wings look like?”

“They were smaller and lighter, easier to control and they matched my hair color.”

“And how…how on earth is that even possible? To change wings like that?”

“They don’t change anything. There’s a ritual, if you like to call it that way, where they…they cut off those wings and…”

“They cut your wings?”

Alex nodded, tears starting to fill his eyes at those memories.

“They gave you some anesthesia or something, right?”

Alex shook his head, answering Jack’s question and trying to shake those images out of his mind.

“Oh my god. That’s like cutting your arm off.”

“I never thought of it that way,” he half laughed half chuckled.

“Where did you stay then? Don’t say you lived on the street for those few days.”

“No, I stayed with Zack. He…never mind. I have no rights to tell you that.”

“Tell, me what?” Jack cocked his head to side, trying to read from Alex expression what he didn’t want to say.

“Nothing! I said that I have no rights to tell you that!”

“He’s like you, isn’t he? Fallen angel.”

Alex didn’t say anything, but the guilty look on his face said that Jack is right.

He had learned from previous conversations with Alex that the more he told about his life the more questions Jack had. This time was no different. Jack had more questions than his mind could comprehend, but he was also more than sure that if he asked those questions, that wouldn’t leave him question less, that would only create other new questions.

He looked at Alex and all he could see was how broken he actually was. He was so good at hiding this. He was always the one trying to be the strong one, the one who never needed anyone’s help, because apparently he was the one who needed to help others. He needed to help Jack, but now, looking at Alex, Jack wanted nothing more than just have opportunity to help him. To make him happy, to make him forget about what his kind did to him.

Jack hadn’t planned on this to happen when he leaned closer to Alex. He hadn’t planned for Alex to wrap his hands around his neck and situate his body on his lap. He hadn’t planned on this to get so heated and he definitely had no intentions to bring it to the next level. As weird as it sounds but Jack didn’t plan any of this, but when Alex asked, “here or bedroom?” he moved as fast as possible to get to the bedroom before Alex changed his mind.

He didn’t regret any minute of it and he savored every touch and every kiss Alex gave him. For a moment he was scared, when Alex released his wings around them, but their soft touch calmed his nerves and he let himself sink deeper in his state of euphoria, state that was all Alex.

It was different for Jack. He had never looked at anyone in his bed and thought how perfect they were, how beautiful and graceful they looked, because they didn’t. Alex did, but they didn’t. They weren’t perfect, they weren’t beautiful and they definitely had no grace at all.

It was different for Alex too. Images and muffled words filling his mind as pleasure cursed through his veins. As he got closer words and images became clearer. Now full sentences forming in his mind and image of himself through Jack’s eyes.

“So that’s how you fix the bond. You literally become one.”
