Memories That Fade Like Photographs
Can You Feel My Heart
Closing time was in about thirty minutes and I just couldn't wait. Normally I was fine with staying even later if it meant not having to go home to an empty apartment. I just couldn't stop thinking about that boy though. The way he had looked at me, his eyes were filled with so much shock and happiness. I wonder why? No, no, no Jack, remember? Don’t. Get. Attached. You’ll never see him again anyways.
I sighed as my boss said goodbye to me and told me to lock up. The sun was just setting behind the hills, I looked in the direction of where Alex and I had our first date. I shook my head, trying to get that thought out of it. Dammit Jack, stop it. I picked up my guitar, put it in it’s case, then walked out. I made sure the door was locked up good and tight before starting to head down the sidewalk towards my apartment. When I stopped at the cross walk I heard my name being shouted. I looked over my shoulder I couldn't believe it who it was. That man from the store was racing up to me, calling out my name.
What the hell?
Alex POV:
I checked my phone every two minutes hoping that it was closing time. Nope. I sighed in frustration and put my head on the table. I couldn't even concentrate on my book because all I could think about was Jack, my Jack. That had to be him. It just had to be. Before I knew it I had fallen asleep. When I woke up the sun was just starting to set. Crap!
I checked the time, two minutes after the store was supposed to close. Shit!!!! I hopped up, leaving the book and my empty coffee cup on the table as I shot out the door. I ran past the store, it was locked up and the lights were off. I continued down the sidewalk, hoping this was the way he might have gone. That’s when I saw him about to cross at the cross walk.
“Jack! Jack please wait!” I called. At first I thought he hadn't heard me, but when he turned around I almost wanted to cry in relief. I stood there, trying to catch my breath and probably looking insane to him.
“S-Sorry. I just had to t-talk to you.” I looked into his eyes, getting lost in them.
“O-Okay, well, did you want to go grab some coffee or something?” He asked, biting his bottom lip and hooking a thumb over his shoulder at the coffee shop on the corner. I smiled, god he is hot, and nodded. We walked side by side over to it, going in and ordering before finding a table.
“So, what did you want to talk about?”
“Jack? Jack Barakat right?” I asked, so much hope building up that I knew if he wasn't him I would shatter right then and there. He looked confused and I felt sadness take over, before I could even finish thinking about just running out of the store he replied.
“Yeah? How do you know my full name?” I couldn't help but smile and let out a shaky laugh.
“Jay, it’s me. Alex.”
