Time Bomb

I opened my eyes to Alex literally just lying beside me staring at me, I smiled at him reaching up to caress his face. I was so sleepy but so excited for this big dinner Lex’s mom was hosting. It just makes it easier for me to tell the whole lot that I was having a baby girl, I know we told Jack that they were going to have to wait until she was born but we’re too excited to wait.
“You ready for the surprise?” He asked me sleepily.
I nodded still wondering what it was.
“Dress nice.” He said climbing out of the bunk
I nodded and he helped me out.
I watched him as he got dressed in a pair of skinnies and a really nice V-neck, he situated his beanie on top of his head while I searched for my favorite dress that really showed off my belly. I pulled it on and pulled on my black heeled booties.
“How do I look?” I asked situating my own beanie onto my head.
“You look amazing.” He said
I smiled and the bus’s breaks squealed to a stop, Alex and I walked to the door telling the other guys that we would see them at dinner.
As we got off the bus I smiled, it had stopped right in front of the park that we both used to come to but didn’t know one another was a person. It was now our park, I walked into the park and over to our swing where he and jack had carved their names right over mine.
“What’s the surprise?” I asked
“I arranged for a professional photo shoot for the two of us here in this park.” He said
“You did not.” I said
“I did, I thought this would be the best place to do it and plus now we’ll have some photos to hang up in our new house.” He said
I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him lovingly. The photographer came out I smiled, and was so excited... He was good friends with the guys, even did a bathtub photo shoot for Jack, and they came out amazing and he took mine and Alex’s engagement and wedding photos I was so excited for him to do this.
We walked around the park posing the way Adam told us too as he took the pictures, and of course Alex and I being Alex and I had to take some silly ones, when out session was coming to an end Adam had me put on a blindfold and Alex took my hand, he walked me over somewhere and when we stopped her took my blindfold off. I looked at the flowers in front of me and the bench, the bench that had someone sitting on it… that someone was my grandma.
“Grandma Rose.” I said tears streaming down my face as I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her small body.
I was ugly crying and she was crying.
“Your husband here called your dad to get my number, he called me and of course I was going to say yes. I couldn’t fly out for your wedding so I wasn’t going to miss you again.” She said
“I’ve missed you so much.” I cried
“I’ve missed you too dear.” She said
Adam took some photos of the two of us and then of the three of us.
When my grandma’s nurse told us it was time to take her back I gave her a huge hug and told her I was going to mail her every week with updates now that I know where she is. She nodded and her nurse helped her into the car.
“Alex.” I said
“Yeah baby?” He asked
“How did I get so lucky to have you?” I asked
“I don’t know man, I’m so glad you moved into my building.” He smiled
I wrapped my arms around his neck and connected our lips, when I heard the camera click I smiled. That photo was going to be perfect.
“Thank you Adam.” Alex said
“No problem, this was much more enjoyable than the bath tub shoot.” He smiled.
I laughed and Alex and I walked to his moms’ house, there were a few cars out from and a whole lot of people. I was excited.
We took each other’s hand and walked up to the front door, he pushed it open to a living room full of people. His mom ran up to us and hugged her son.
“Oh my god, look at you mama.” She said holding my arms out.
“I know, I look like I swallowed a balloon.” I said
She laughed.
We had called to tell her that we were having a baby but I think she’s just excited to see that it’s true. Jack’s family came up to us and hugged us both, his mom rubbing my belly.
“This is going to be one beautiful baby. The world is not ready.” May, Jack’s sister said
“I’m ready.” Alex said
She laughed and we all wondered into the dining room where there were two girls I didn’t recognize, must have been the sisters.
“Ryan this is Jillian and Helen. My sisters who missed our wedding.” Alex said
“Little bro, we said we were sorry.” Jillian said
He smiled and hugged his sisters.
“So this is the infamous Ryan. This dingus taking care of you?” Helen asked
I smiled at her.
“Better than I could ever ask.” I said
“Good.” She smiled.
“Who is ready to eat? I’m starving!” Jack yelled.
We all laughed and took a seat around the table, Alex and I sat next to each other and across from Jack and Rian.
As dinner went on, I looked over at Alex and he smiled. He stood up and everyone looked at him stopping the conversations they were in. I stood up beside him and smiled.
“Lex and I would like to make a small announcement.” I said
Jack smiled.
“Alex and I got a NIPT done on the baby.” I said
“Does it have downs?” May asked causing Joyce to slap her.
“No, the baby is completely normal, not that we would have had an issue if it wasn’t. It’s our baby and nothing will change the love.” Alex said
“But since we got that blood test we can for sure tell you guys that we are having.” I said
I looked at my husband and he smiled.
“A girl.” We both said
“A girl! I told you!” Jack said getting up from his seat and pointing at the two other members of the band.
“Yes, yes you did oh mighty fetus whisperer.” Zack said
Everyone laughed and Alex’s mom had the biggest smile on her face.
“A granddaughter.” She cried
A few tears left her eyes. Alex reached over and grabbed her hand.
“I’m okay, they’re happy tears.” She said
“Do we have a name?” Jillian asked
“We do not have a name yet, we’ll be spit balling back and forth while I’m at home and he’s on tour.” I said
“I vote you name her Jackie after me.” Jack said
“Veto.” Alex said
Jack pouted and I smiled giving him a look that I would put it in the running,
After dinner was finished Alex took me to the airport, we stood outside of my terminal just waiting. I didn’t want to leave him and he didn’t want me to leave but I knew Mack needed me at home. I kissed him as they called my flight, his hand tangled into my hair as he didn’t want to let go.
“Three and a half months. I’ll be home.” He said
“We’ll be waiting for you.” I said
He kissed my lips once more before kneeling down and kissing my belly. His love for this baby girl melted my heart.
“I love you.” He said to both of us.
“And we love you. We’ll see you in a few months. Have fun and be safe.” I said
He nodded and I hugged him and gave him a quick kiss and then I went to get on my flight.
The flight was boring to say the least, I was so tired yet to uncomfortable to sleep. So I sat there listening to my headphones, listening to All Time Low because I already missed his voice.
When I landed I didn’t bring any bags with me so I just walked out and looked for my best friend, when I spotted her I laughed. She was standing there holding Anette while holding a big sign that said “Queen Gaskarth” I ran up to her and hugged them both at the same time.
“God I missed you.” She said
“I missed you too, I’m sorry for leaving.” I said
“It’s okay it really is, it was only like two weeks. But the divorce papers came in.” She said
She took my hand and we walked out to the car.
“How’d he take it?” I asked as we were driving to Mr. Barakats house.
“He signed them. And he didn’t want to go to court for Anette so she’s all mine.” She said
“That was easy.” I said
She nodded.
“It gets finalized next month.” She said
“You gonna call Barakat?” I asked
“No, he’ll have to wait.” She smiled
We pulled into the driveway and I was so excited to be home.
When we walked in Baltimore ran for me, I hugged the crap out of him. I missed him so much.
