Chapter One

The honeymoon was prefect until it got cut short for the most unexpected thing that nor Alex or I could of thought of, our week was cut short due to a phone call. We packed up our stuff and caught the first flight home, Alex comforted me the entire way. When we landed at the airport he grabbed me by my shoulders.
“You take the car, I’ll take a cab home and take your car there. Just text me the information okay?” He asked
I nodded and he kissed my nose and handed me the keys to his SUV. I ran to the car and took off to my destination. When I pulled into the parking lot I parked and ran into the building seeing Mackenzie waiting on me.
“Take me.” I said
She nodded and grabbed my hand dragging me to an elevator and down a long corridor, we stopped outside of the room and I looked at her
“Can you text Lex the room number?” I asked
She nodded and walked away, I opened the door and the sound of beeping flooded my ears.
“Daddy.” I whispered closing the door
I walked slowly over to his bed looking him over, the IV’s in his arm and hand, the neck brace, his leg in a cast.
“How the hell?” I asked myself
I sat down next to the bed and took his hand in mine, that’s when his doctor came in.
“Are you Ryan?” He asked me
“I’m his daughter.” I said
The doctor nodded and closed the door behind him
“Your dad suffered from a heart attack at the wheel of his car, he’s going to recover just fine. We have him under right now but he should wake soon though.” He said
“When can he go home?” I asked
“In a few weeks when he’s able to do things on his own, we know his lives alone.” He said
I nodded
“How bad was the heart attack?” I asked
“It’ was acute, but enough that we’re going to prescribe him medicine for it. He’ll have to take it every day for the rest of his life.” He said
“Will he still be able to do his job?” I asked
“No heavy lifting. He won’t be allowed to lift the amps or any heavy equipment.” He said
I sighed and he walked out of the room.
“I would love to blame this on you dad, but I can’t. Get better.” I said
I sat there in dead silence until the door opened and Alex came into the room.
“How’s he doing?” He asked
“They said he’s going to be okay.” I said
He nodded and walked over to me, he pulled me out of the chair say down and pulled me to his lap.
“He’ll be okay love.” He said
I nodded and leaned back on my husband, a few minutes went by when my dad started to stir, I grabbed his hand and he squeezed mine back.
“I thought you two were on your honey moon.” He weakly said
“When I get a call that my dad is in the hospital I’m always going to be right here.” I said
“Am I going to be okay?” He asked looking over at me
“Yeah, just an acute heart attack, and some broken bones.” I said
“I talked to the doctor and he said that your heart attack could have been caused by some major stress.” Alex said
My dad nodded.
“What’s stressing you out dad?” I asked
He moved slowly into a sitting position and pressed his call button
“Your mother.” He said
A nurse came in
“Can this be removed?” He asked motioning towards his neck brace
She nodded and took it off of him
“Only for a short time.” She said as she was closing the door
“What do you mean my mother?” I asked
“She’s out of jail and looking for you.” He said
“That stressed you out?” I asked
“Ryan the woman fucked up your life. I don’t want her to find you and hurt you again.” He said
“Daddy, I’m a big girl now.” I said
“I know, it doesn’t mean I don’t worry.” He said
“I know.” I said
“You two have been here long enough go home, it’s pretty late.” He said
“What? No.” I said
“Go home.” He said sternly
“Dad.” I said
“Go.” He said
“Come on Ryan.” Alex said
I stood up and we walked out of the hospital room, we traded keys in the waiting room so I could drive my car.
“So?” Mackenzie asked
“Can you meet us at the apartment, I just want to get out of her.” I said
She nodded and we all walked out and drove to my house.
“I wasn’t expecting you to be out of there so quickly.” Mackenzie said plopping on the couch once we arrived
“He kicked us out.” I said
“Why?” She asked
I felt Alex shrug beside me, I looked over at him and he gave me an ‘I’m sorry’ smile.
“Stop stressing.” He said
“What are you talking about? I’m not stressing.” I said
“You’re picking at your nail polish.” He said
I looked down at my hand and shoved them in between my thighs.
“Why are you stressing out?” Mackenzie asked
“I have a lot on my mind, it’s nothing.” I said
“Tell me.” She said leaning up from the couch and over the coffee table at me
,“I was thinking about something but there isn’t a point.” I said
“What is it?” Alex asked
“Going to college.” I said
“Oh.” She said
“I just feel like I’m not doing anything with my life. I don’t want Alex to have to support me.” I said
“Ry, you know you have a job and you get a big pay check every other week.” He said
“That’s why I said there wasn’t a point.” I said
He nodded.
“Come over for dinner.” Mackenzie said
I looked up at her
“I’ll head home and start cooking, you two should come over.” She said
“We’ll be over after I shower the stress away.” I said
She nodded and hugged me goodbye, I got up and walked to the bedroom; plopping facedown onto the bed.
“What happened to taking a shower?” Alex asked
“Give me a moment.” I said into the pillows.
I kicked my shoes off and let out a large muffled sigh
“Talk to me baby.” He said
“I just lied to my best friend.” I said
He stayed silent waiting on me to finish, I sat up
“I’m terrified.” I said
“You’re being vague.” He said
I sat up and looked at him
“I’m terrified of my mom.” I said
“After all these years?” He asked
“Yeah. What if I run into her? What if she finds out where we live?” I asked
“Ry, baby she won’t.” He said pulling me to him
I cuddled into his chest, he laid down keeping me on top of him
“You don’t know her.” I said
“I know I don’t. I think you should tell Mackenzie when we get there.” He said
I nodded and dug my knuckles into my eyes, I got up and walked into the bathroom. I wiggled out of my pants when Alex walked in and started the shower, he stripped down and got in; I followed. As we showered his presence calmed me along with the hot water, it was amazing that just him being with me could calm me. We got out and I got dressed in a pair of red skinny jeans and a black tank top. Alex wrapped me up in his arms and pushed one of his beanies onto my head, I smiled at him and we walked out to go to Mackenzie’s.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked
“I think the question is what am I not thinking about.” I smiled over at him
“Take a breath, you’re going to be okay. Want to know how I know that?” He asked
“Yeah.” I said
“Because I’m not going to let anything happen to you.” He said
“Promise?” I asked
“Pinky promise.” He said
I took my seatbelt off and pushed up the middle thing and sat there; right next to him.
When we pulled into Mackenzie and Jack’s house Jack was sitting on the front porch smoking a cigarette, I walked up to him.
“Does Kenz know you’re smoking again?” I asked
“Yeah, she’s not happy.” He said
I smiled at him and ruffled his hair, I walked in and Anette was crawling around the living room,
“Honey we’re here.” I said picking up the baby, she smiled at me and I held her close to my chest.
“Kitchen darling.” She said
Alex kissed me and pointed at the front porch, I walked into the kitchen as he walked back out to talk to Jack.
“Baby whore.” Kenz laughed as I walked into to the kitchen
“How can I not be? Look at this face.” I said
She smiled and kissed her daughter.
“So what was actually wrong earlier?” she asked
I just looked at her confused.
“You don’t think I really believed that whole college thing did you?” she asked
I sighed
“My dad had a heart attack because he was really stressed out, he was really stressed out because my mom is out of jail and looking for me.” I said
“Oh shit, that’s… shit.” She said
I nodded and she hugged me over the baby, I set Anette down and she hugged me tightly.
“Alex isn’t going to let a damn thing happen to you.” She said
“I know, but I keep thinking about the ‘what ifs’.” I said
“Overthinking is our specialty.” She smiled
“I felt bad for not telling you.” I said
“It’s okay.” She said
I nodded
“You calmer?” She asked
“Yeah.” I said
“How do you do it?” She asked
“Do what?” I asked
“Wash the stress away like that?” She asked
“I don’t, Alex does. When he’s around me I’m instantly calmer, I don’t know what it is but it amazing.” I said
“It’s love.” She smiled
I huffed at her and she kissed my cheek
“So what are you trying to poison us with this fine evening?” I asked peering into the pot on the stove.
“Pasta.” She said
“What kind?” I asked
“Alfredo.” She laughed
“You make the best Alfredo sauce.” I said
“I know.” She laughed
“Don’t be cocky.” I laughed
She smiled over at me and we chatted as she cooked, when she was done she sent me to fetch the guys, as we sat around and ate Jack stared at me
“What is your malfunction?” I asked him
“What?” He asked
“Why are you staring at me?” I asked
“It’s weird.” He said
“What is?” Mackenzie asked
“To see her this happy. I know how that sounds but it’s a good thing, you like radiate happiness.” He said
I smiled and Alex squeezed my knee.
“Thanks Jack.” I said
“Anytime.” He smiled at me
“So when do you guys pick up Baltimore from Jacks?” Mackenzie asked
“Probably after we leave here.” Alex said
I nodded and took the last bite of my pasta
“Learn to make this.” Alex said
“Nope, if you want Alfredo Mackenzie cooks it.” I said
Alex chuckled and finished his,
“Speaking of picking up my child we should probably do that.” I said
“Does he know you’re home?” Jack asked
I shook my head no and Alex did the same, I took Alex’s dish into the kitchen, rinsed it and put it into the dishwasher along with mine.
“Thanks for dinner.” I said
“Anytime babes.” She sad
We said our goodbyes and headed out to Jack’s house, when we got there the other guys’ cars were in the driveway.
“Are they going to make us stay?” I asked
“They’ll probably try. But we won’t okay?” Alex said
I nodded and we took hands and walked up to Jack’s house not bothering to knock. We walked in and no one was in the living room or family room whatever he calls it. We heard noise from the basement and we followed it. They were all watching some scary movie, they were huddled together jumping in fright. I took this as my chance to make them wet themselves, I crouched behind their huddle on the couch and got close to their ears.
“Hello boys.” I whispered creepily
Jack turned his head and our noses touched
“Fuck you.” He said
“No thanks. Where is my dog?” I asked
“What are you guys doing home?” Rian asked
“Family emergency.” I said
“What happened?” Zach asked
“My dad had a heart attack.” I said
“And got into a car accident.” Alex said flipping the lights on
“Is he okay?” Zach asked squinting at the bright lights
He was always so caring
“He’s going to be alright. Thank you for asking.” I said
“Always.” He said
“Well we just came for Baltimore.” I said
“Asleep in my bed.” Jack said
Alex went to retrieve him
“Was he good?” I asked
“Yeah, we had a few head butts but he was okay.” He said
I nodded and Jack smiled at me
“How was your honeymoon?” He asked
“Fun, Iceland is really pretty.” I said
“We’re expecting babies soon.” He said
“Babies?” I asked
“We want three.” He smiled
“Well, I’ll see what I can do.” I said
He smiled and clapped as Alex came back down with my dog.
“We’ll see you tomorrow.” I said
I walked out of the house with Alex and we headed home.
“Jack told me that him and the guys expect three babies.” I said
“Our friends.” Alex laughed
I laughed
“How many do you want?” He asked
“What?” I asked
“I know you want kids. How many?” He asked
“Two or three.” I said
“Two or four.” He smiled
“You’d be a good dad.” I said
“And you’d be a good mom.” He smiled
He took my hand as Baltimore laid in my lap, on the way home I thought about what it would be like to have kids with Alex.

@Nanook
I will definitely message you when I start to post another Alex OC

Mrs. Gaskarth Mrs. Gaskarth

Aww, it's over. :'( Wasn't expecting it to end so quickly but I'm glad it ended happily! :)
One thing I noted that seemed off with the last update though:
The wedding was absolutely beautiful but I was so excited for our parents to take the kiddos so I could drink and dance with my best friend at her wedding.
Hopefully by "drink" she meant non-alcoholic, since she's pregnant... but generally when this is said I think the thought is alcoholic. :O
But really cute how they're having their second ones practically together.
Overall, awesome job with this story! I'm so happy you came back to finish it; it's not something I see too often if at all, so that was really cool. :) You did a great job with wrapping it up, and you did more than one update after you came back, which showed you still had a love for this story, which is admirable to see that dedication still there. Usually when authors come back, they'll do one update and that's it. And will just conclude it there.
So yeah, I enjoyed reading Ryan and Alex's story! If you write anymore Alex and OC let me know. I will happily check it out. :)
