Me Without You

Start Planning. (Day 56)

Jack groaned and buried his head into my neck as loud knocks attacked his front door.
“Baby,” He whined and I ran my fingers through his hair, wide-awake. I hadn’t slept well after what had happened at the party. “You love me right?”
“Of course I do.” I giggled as Jack planted kisses on my shoulder.
“Answer the door.” I scoffed as I pushed him off me, a proud grin on his face. “Slave!” He laughed as I left the room. “Door!” I flipped him off as I slammed the bedroom door shut and pulled his Ravens hoodie over my head. I ran my fingers through my hair as I got to the door and sighed when the peephole showed a rather excited four girls. Another knock and I whipped the door open so Cass, Jess, May and Tay could spill in.
“It’s wedding planning time!” May squealed as the girls carried their various boxes into the living room. “Wake my fat ass of a brother up. We have things to sort out quickly and we need him here.” Tay volunteered and a minute later we heard yelling and swearing erupt from the upstairs bedroom which was soon followed by a grumpy Jack being dragged into the room. I opened my arms out and he scowled at May as he cuddled up next to me on the couch. I kissed his forehead as May pulled out a pad and paper and scrawled ‘guest list’ on the top.
“Aw, really? You woke me up for a list of people?” Jack grumbled and Cass looked at her watch before laughing.
“It is eleven, Jack. We could have been much more unreasonable.” We both rolled our eyes and snuggled back into the couch.
“Okay, so, before we go guests, we need to decide the wedding party.” Damn, I hadn’t even thought about that.
“Easy, the band and Joe.” Jack mumbled. Well he got the easy options, all my friends were guys.
“Best man?” May asked, although she was already writing down the name.
“Alex. Duh.” Everyone turned toward me and Jack excused himself to make coffee.
“Jasey? You’ll need at least five to match up with Jack.” May instructed and I cringed. This wedding was making me realise how few female friends I had. A lightbulb went off as I took in the four pairs of eyes waiting for my answer.
“Well, you four? Is that a start?” I smiled at their reactions. May squealed, Tay simply smiled, Cass jumped up and hugged me and Jess blew me a kiss. “I need one more.” God, was there no one?
“We can come back to that.” May sighed as Jack walked in with coffee. I took mine gratefully before kicking my legs up over Jack’s and soaking in the feeling of his fingers trailing from my ankle to the bottom of my pyjama shorts. “But we really do need to write up a guest list so we can organise invitations.” May gave us both a stern look and Jack started rattling off names.
Joyce, Bassam, Joe, the Dawsons, the Gaskarths, the Merricks, the crew, Pierce The Veil. I added in that Victor and Viv had to come too. We Are The In Crowd, Tonight Alive. A group of Jack’s Baltimore friends. A few more bands, more music related people.
“Baby?” Jack nudged my side. I had zoned out while thinking of who I would have there. Jack had so many friends and I was severely lacking.
“Uh, Mark?” Jack raised is eyebrows. “From Gk.” I clarified. “Carla and Beth.” I paused, was that really the extent of my non-music related friends in California? Wow.
“What about family?” Jack helped and I internally cringed. Yuck. “You know, you really should tell your mom.” Did he really just say that?
“You’re kidding me right? No way. I haven’t spoken to that woman in four years. I don’t plan on getting into contact now. Most of my family lives back in Ireland.” I sighed. But I suppose we could invite them anyway, if they came there would be no harm done. Jack shrugged and I grumbled about it being short notice and rattled off a few of my closer families names. “The Reilly’s and the Cobham’s. They’re the closest I’ve got. I’ve never had much to do with the others.” The day dragged on. I would rather have been laying around enjoying the final time with Jack before he went back to finish off the tour. But no, we had to finalise a guest list. I had to pick my final bridesmaid. I put down Jenna, we had become quite good friends on one of the boy’s tours and I visited a lot. Plus, we hung out whenever she was in California and I’ve gone to Australia with her before. We were really close even though we didn’t see each other often. And named May as my maid-of –honour. Partly because she was fiancés sister, and partly because she was doing all the work anyway. We picked out a colour scheme, which seemed to be the simplest task all day. Jack and I agreed instantly. Red and White, we were getting married on Halloween. The colour was either going to be red or orange and everyone agreed that orange would look tacky.

“That was hell.” Jack complained as he slammed the door behind our wedding planners. I made grabby hands at him and he crawled back onto the couch, switching us around so I could lay on top of him and cuddle into his chest.
“Let’s never get married again.” I groaned causing Jack to chuckle. “It’s horrible.”
“Just imagine when they get to dress shopping. I swear those four argue about the wedding more than we ever will.” I giggled and settled down to watch the afternoon game with Jack. We didn’t get further than the fourth inning before we had both fallen asleep in each other’s arms.

I felt a movement underneath me and willed myself to go back to sleep. No. I didn’t want today to be here. Could we postpone it? Please? Jack lifted me up so he could move out from under me and lay me back down on the couch. I cracked one eye open and watched him move about the house, making a coffee, pulling his case from his room back down to wait by the front door. Just as he was leaning down to put his shoes on I cracked. I couldn’t stand watching him get ready to leave me. It brought back too many bad memories.
“Jack.” My voice shook and he turned to face me as I sat up on the couch.
“Oh no,” His face fell and he rushed back over and pulled me against his chest as the tears started to fall. “No, baby, please don’t cry.” I gasped in lungful’s of air as I tried to steady myself. The thought of him leaving was too much. “I’ll be back here with you in a week, okay?”
“Promise?” I sniffed, gazing up at him as he wiped his thumbs under my eyes, trying to rid them off the moisture.
“I will always come back for you. This time, I promise I will be back.” He leaned down and kissed me gently. “I will never leave you like that again. I love you.”
“I love you too.” I whispered, getting to my feet and grasping his hand, following him to the front door. “Do you have your phone?” I stuttered as he patted his pockets.
“I’ve got everything.” He smiled before kissing me again. “May’s bringing Olivia back tomorrow since you’re going to be here. You’ll be fine with her right?” I stared at him. Uh, who? “Olivia? Babe?” I continued to stare. It rang a bell. “My family's dog?” Click.
“Oh, right!” I remember seeing the instagrams. I had figured it would be totally okay to follow them all since half of their fandom had a Jasey-Rae related screen name. “Yeah, she’ll be fine with me.” I smiled but instantly dropped back into a frown when the bus horn honked outside.
“I will be back in a week and I won’t stop texting you.” Jack smiled, giving me a quick kiss before taking his keys and opening the door. “I love you!” I waved the band off as they drove away and turned to lock myself back in the house. Incoming: A total shit of a week.

Notes

So, I decided to include Olivia in this. I'm not sure whether she is Jack's or whatever but for this story she'll be shared between his family.
I hope you guys are liking this so far!
I love you all! And don't forget to vote for the Fanfic awards!

@Evie
Ahh okay I get it :)

I really hope I didn't sound mean. If I didn't like your story I wouldn't have bothered. I just thought it was good enough for me to point out.

@we-forgot-monday
Hey :) I kind of wanted that to be the point. Jasey seems so perfect and everyone seems to like her so much that her downfall is how possessive she becomes over everyone. How they're her boys and no one else's unless she totally approves of them. I read a lot of fanfiction where the female is 'perfect' in a way and I wanted to try push that in a different way where her perfection and popularity is her downfall. For example, how she can't choose between Alex or Jack but still expects both of them to hang around for her and not move on, which ultimately all comes from her insecurity but we haven't got there yet ;) I'm starting to focus more on that side of the story now as its coming toward the end but I thought I should just put that out there and I'm really do apologise if it's unclear! The story did begin with a lack of character put into Jasey which I'm trying to slowly fix up through both the chapters coming up and the prequel.
Thanks for your comment!

I really don't mean to sound bitchy or mean but why does everyone like Jasey so much? What has she done? She seems kind of perfect, which seems kind of unrealistic. I haven't finished the story yet but does she have any flaws? Also why are they all her boys? Is no other female allowed to be a part of their lives but Jasey? This story is well written and there are certain parts of it that I really like, its just that those things don't really make sense. I really hope I didn't hurt your feelings or anything like that, because I am in no means a perfect writer, but I hope its like constructive criticism.

@Rebecca.Troy
Lets face it, there's never enough drama :)
