The First Time

Zack's POV

6 years later

Our tour just ended and the four of us couldn’t be more excited. We were all going home and seeing our loved ones. Alex can’t wait to see Lisa, Rian just couldn’t be more excited to go home and then visit Cass in LA, Jack’s still looking for someone, but he’s happy right now, and as for myself I just can’t wait to see Emma.

We were checking in and we did the usual process. We were all just excited and Rian wasn’t the only one jittery this time, we all were.Waiting for our departure took a while, but when time finally came by, the four of us took our seats and thankfully I got to sit next to Rian and Jack and Alex weren’t far away.

The ride home was tiring. As usual, we took a nap so that we would get enough rest. I was the first to wake up and the old man next to me smiled at me. He looked like one of those adorable grandpas.

“Are you going home to Baltimore?” He asked me with a soft tone.

“Yeah, I’m glad we’re finally going home.” I smiled

“Is there a special someone back at home?”

“Yeah. I have my girl and my family back in Baltimore.”

“That’s nice. What’s she like, your girl? An old man like me likes to hear stories about young lovebirds.” He chuckled and I smiled

“Well, to begin with, she’s perfect. She’s smart, gorgeous, kind, and she’s just the whole package, I guess.”

“You know, after 50 years of marriage with my Lyla, I learned that the right girl makes you feel like she’s your home. Is she?”

“Definitely.”

“That’s nice to hear.”

The old man took a nap and thank God Rian woke up or else I would’ve been alone. We talked about Cass and Emma and how much excited we are to see them. It was a long ride home, but it was a good one because I’m finally going back to my Emma.

The old man woke up and we helped him walk to the baggage claim. We were waiting for our stuff and of course I was the last one. Jack and Alex were the first and Alex ran to Lisa. He started hugging her and when they let go, Jack also hugged Lisa. It felt so great watching them be happy. Rian also went away and he hugged his parents, they waved at me and went home. It was just me and the old man now.

“Now boy, listen to me. Your girl sounds terrific. Promise me you’ll make her happy because if you lose her, the pain just isn’t worth it. Okay? I won’t see you again and here comes my luggage so be a man to your girl.”

I helped him take his luggage and he went away. His grandkids hugged him and his smile was just as precious as it can be. At last, my luggage passed by. I took it and I look away.

There it was, the smile I’ve been waiting for. My Emma is waiting for me and I couldn’t be happier. I smiled back and I quickly jogged back to her.
