The First Time

Emma’s POV




I was so tired after my first internship. When they say being a medical intern is hard, it really is. I haven’t graduated school yet, but I’m glad they gave me the chance to treat patients that weren’t severely hurt.




I took a long nice bath knowing I got blood squirted at my face earlier. The adrenaline was incredible, but it was so tense and you just can’t screw up. We’re talking about people’s lives here. It has been an exhausting day for me. Thank God tomorrow’s Saturday. No school! I can finally get some rest. At least a bit, before I go to the hospital for my intern job.




I dried my hair, brushed my teeth, and was ready for bed until the doorbell rang.



Who would be visiting me this late? I walked to the door and opened the door. I saw two men who were actually Alex and Rian. They smiled and I closed the door back. I was so scared. How do they even know I lived here? They weren’t leaving.

“What are you two doing here? It’s late! How do you even know I lived here?” I asked quite furiously. I was still not over that night.



“You might not want to know about that.” Alex replied.



“What is this about anyways?”



“We just need to ask you something.”



“If I answer would you leave? I’m not trying to be harsh, but I’m exhausted and I have an intern job tomorrow, so?”



“We’ll leave.” Rian answered. I opened the door and saw the two of them more clearly this time. I gotta be honest I missed them. Even though it hurts like hell, they did no wrong to me.

“What happened to you guys that night?” Alex asked. Oh no. Not this question.



“Why don’t you ask Zack? He probably knows and it’s such a long story, it will take so much time and it’s just not a part of my life I want to remember. I’m sorry, guys. “



“It’s okay. The first ones are always the toughest.” Alex said sympathetically. “Well, I guess we better go then. If you ever need to talk to us, or maybe even Zack, just inform us or something. You’re a smart girl, you’ll figure out a way. Also, we’re staying for a while in Boston and if you need anything you can find us.”



“Okay, but wait! I have a question too. A question no one else could answer. Why did you visit me when we were 17? Please, I need to know.”



“We wanted to get to know you better. We thought you were playing with Zack, but we were wrong. You made him happy. You were his soul mate, his one and only.” Rian answered. I chuckled. They have no idea how much pain Zack caused. I don’t need this right now.



“Okay then. Thanks for the answer. I’ll be going off to bed then.”



“Goodnight Emma. It’s really good seeing you.” Rian gave me that sweet smile of his that I’ve missed.



“Goodnight guys, and just so you know, I’ve missed you two. Even Jack and his sex jokes.” I gave them a smile.



“We miss you too. Goodnight Em.” Alex replied and off they went. I closed the door to my apartment and that was it. It felt like I was 17 again. I went to bed feeling wretched. The good old times were coming back. I’ve been resisting to so hard and at the peek of my education, they had to come along. I remembered the memories. I remembered the guys. I remembered the laughter. I remembered Zack..
