The First Time

Emma’s POV

We finished at around 7 pm. I said goodbye to Zack who also said his farewell. He went to his car while I walked to the direction my house was located. Not so long after a 10m walk, a car was beside me. It was slowing down and it kinda gave me the shivers.When I was officially worried, Zack’s face popped up. I felt so stupid that I didn’t recognize his car.

“Geez, I thought you were someone else. You creeped me out.” I exclaimed.

“Sorry, I didn’t know you are gonna be scared. Do you want me to drive you home? My house is in the same direction.” Zack replied

“Are you sure? If you don’t mind, I would like to go with you.”

“Sure, get in!”

I got in the car I showed him where to go. The drive back was silent. I didn’t really know what to say. Not long after I showed him the directions, we finally arrived in front of my house. I stayed in the car for a little while

“Uhm, Zack? Thank you for the ride home. Sorry for the awkward moments we had. Just know that what just happened was the happiest moment I have ever experienced. Also, what I said this morning, I meant each and every word.” I said while looking at Zack. “I really am grateful for you and I want you to know that I will try my best to be there for you whether you need me or not.”

Zack was also looking at me and I kissed Zack in the cheek.

“Bye Zack. Thanks again. See you tomorrow.” I gave him a broken smile

“No problem. Just know that whenever you need me just tell me and I’ll be there for you. Okay?”

“Okay.” I replied waving goodbye.

I got inside and saw Joe and Kate sitting on the couch. They were looking at me quite seriously.

“We need an intervention.” Kate said.

“Yes, we need to talk.” Joe added.

“Okay, so what do you want to talk about?” I asked.

Kate and Joe looked at each other, broke their serious look and laughed. They got closer to me and said, “Who was the guy who drove you home?”

“We saw everything you know.” Kate added with a smile. “We even saw the kiss.”

They looked like a couple of schoolgirls asking my about the hottest guy in school. They weren’t acting like their usual behavior.

“He’s Zack Merrick.” I finally responded

“Is he nice to you?” Joe asked while turning on his protective bro mode on.

“Yes, he is. Very nice actually. Being really honest, I don’t know how to feel about him. He is the sweetest, nicest person I have ever met. I might be falling for him, and I want to let my guard down, but at the same time I’m scared that I just might not be good enough for him. He makes me feel comfortable and safe. I feel safe around you guys, but Zack is different. He fills the holes I have had before and make me feel complete. He is my exception.” It all came up spontaneously.

Kate and Joe had their jaw opened. They never thought I would be feeling this stuff in this certain age. I think they might not be prepared to handle me, knowing that they are just like me. A loner. A person who has never ever felt what love was like for a very long time.

“Just keep calm. Okay? Whatever you do, hold on to a guy like that. Only the right person could make you feel the way you’re feeling.” Kate responded

An awkward silence hit the room.

“Anyways, goodnight you two. I am heading to my room and I am gonna reflect what just happened to my little sister.” Joe added. He gave Kate and me a goodnight hug and went upstairs.

Kate also gave me a goodnight hug and caught up to Joe who was in the middle of the stairs. I turned out the lights, locked the doors, and walked upstairs. I was really tired and dirty. I just really need some rest. I took a shower and washed all the paint away. That moment when I was finally happy came back to me after I finished showering. I laid in my bed feeling very blue. Not so long after, I fell asleep with the last thing inside my head being Zachary Merrick.
