Responsible
Jitters (Jack)
“Pling” and the “1 New E-Mail” pop-up appeared. Jack checked immediately and almost let out a small whelp when he saw that it was from Alex. He had left his e-mail account from 6th grade open all day at work, always waiting for a reply to his e-mail.
Dear Anonymous,
I received your e-mail and that is okay with me. I’ll be waiting in the confession box today at 5.30 pm.
-Alex
Jack broke out into a smile and he closed his eyes. He was relieved. He would be able to meet Alex today and tell him about his feelings, totally anon- Fuck. Alex knew his voice. Fuck. Fuckfuckfuck. Jack started to panic slightly; his whole beautiful plan was for nothing. He put his face in his hands and tore at his hair.
Alex would know who he was. But maybe… maybe it was better this way? Because Jack would be able to talk freely, without having to look Alex in the face and stuff. He was a tad bit relieved and stopped fisting his hair.
He got back to work but it was really hard to concentrate. He spent all afternoon trying to come up with what exactly he wanted to say but it was more difficult than he had thought it would be. Endless thoughts ran through his head; what if Alex didn’t accept his feelings? Or maybe, just maybe he returned them. But Jack shouldn’t dream too much. It was all far away. Alex probably didn’t like him anyways… At least that was what Jack thought.
He forced himself to calm down a little, telling himself that he should just wait and take whatever would come.
When it was finally 5 pm, Jack jumped up and hurried to leave the office. He got home quickly and greeted Alex. He had forgotten that Alex would be home. He plopped down on the sofa, discouraged, but then he had an idea.
“Alex, I’ll go do the groceries. Anything special that you want?” he called.
“Um… Yeah, get me some apples and tomato sauce,” Alex called back.
“Sure!”
“Oh yeah Jack, I got a confession scheduled for 5.30,” Alex said, coming around the corner.
“Okay, see you at service,” Jack replied, his heart beating faster. This was his confession. Oh my god.
And off he was. He quickly went to the store to get it done but there was an enormous queue at the checkout. He had to wait until 5.25 and then really had to hurry. He managed to get home and put the things away and then ran to church. He busted through the door and ran towards the box. His foot got caught on a pew and he fell flat on his face. He got up quickly though and managed to get to the box.
“Hi,” he breathed out happily.
Notes
Sorry for the cliffhanger but I want to write the next chapter out of Alex's perspective! Stay tuned! c:
