5 days later Alex was finally coming back to school. He hadn't had the heart to go back, he mainly sat in my house and kept an eye on Alice for me.
" Beck I'm nervous." Alex said as we got out of my car.
"Lex.you will be fine." I reassured him.
"No one is going to say anything" I patted his back
"And If they do I will personally shove my foot in their asses." Jack walked up behind us putting his arms around our shoulders. I laughed.
"Well I need to get stuff from my locker. See you in first period." I walked the opposite direction of them. "Here we will come with you." Jack called, Alex and Rian nodded coming with us. "Don't need anyone pushing you into the trash can like yesterday."
"Sure. Because I really can't protect myself." I rolled my eyes. I walked in front of the boys a little just to be shoved into a locker. "If you have a problem with me say it to my damn face!" I yelled after the person. Jack gripped my shoulder.
"It's alright Hun." Jack hugged me after a minutes of my not saying anything.
"No it's not jack." I started to walk again, running up the steps. "Damnit beck!" Alex followed me into the choir room.
"Beck." I was sitting on the third row up of purple chairs, on the floor. "Why are you in here?"
"I'm sick of it Al." I sighed, he sat next to me on the floor. "All the shoving name calling everything I'm sick of it." Alex pulled me into a hug "all of it" I started to cry.
"Please don't cry Becka." He rubbed my back. "I won't let anyone near you I promise." He let me go. "Okay. Just don't let them near me." I said, getting up and picking my bag up. Alex got up taking my hand. "What's this?" I asked. Raising our hands.
"A little lying never hurt anybody." He laughed. I shook my head at him "you know I'm right." We walked into the hallway, and people were staring like we had 3 heads.
I heard someone whisper "why would Gaskarth be with the emo?" Then another say "I heard her last boyfriend ran away leaving her his baby." And another "Alex really must be desperate." I kept my head down walking towards first period, dragging Alex behind me.
"Hun slow down." Alex laughed. I stopped spinning around and glaring at him, we were so close our noses were touching.
"Lex do you hear them?" I whispered in an angry voice. He put a hand on my back.
"Of course I do. Just ignore them. Now come on before we're late." Alex hugged me continuing to our first period. Jack saw us and laughed.
"What's going on here?" He asked
"Keeping Becka safe." Alex told jack. Jack nodded, understanding I dropped Alex's hand, going to see Mariah and Ashlynn.
"Hey."I say across from them At a lab table. Mariah shot me a look "mar what's wrong?"
"Beck we haven't heard or seen you in over a week!" Ash sounded pissed off.
"I'm sorry I've been busy taking care of some things at home." I apologized, Alice was sick and Alex was staying at my house."
"Why was Gaskarth at your house? again...." Mariah asked.
"Sorry I can't say." I frowned. Ash rolled her eyes "ash. I can I promised Alex."
"It's fine Beck." Ash shook her head "I shouldn't even be mad."
"Then don't be Ash." I got up going to my seat next to jack. "Hey jack jack."
"Hey Becka" he grinned at me. "So I have a question." He lowered his voice some.
"Okay what's up?" I leaned towards him. "When does Alice's grandparent get her again?" Jack asked.
"Oh they get her for the summer and next school year." I explained. "They pick her up in a weeks"
"Oh well. Where Are you goin after graduation?" Alex turned around asking. " I don't know maybe home. Maybe somewhere nice for a new start." I shrugged. "Does California sound new enough?" Alex smirked. I raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about!" I laughed.
"You're speaking crazy talk!"
"No we aren't. We're going to LA with Rian and Zack. Come with us!" Jack Suggested. I gave them both a scared look.
"Well I don't know guys, what about Alice and Indie and drew. " I asked, looking at them. Jack looked at Alex.
"Lic will always have you. You will actually be closer to North Dakota if you're in California. Drew and Indie can handle themselves. Indie is 16 and Drew is what 21? They will be okay." Jack patted my back.
"Okay I will go then." I nodded, smiling at both boys, who jumped up hugging me.
"Oh great! We have to find somewhere to live." Alex told me.
"I can help." I waved him off.
"Okay good. I say tonight we all go out to dinner to celebrate." Jack suggested.
"Okay let's do it!" I shrugged. That night "Alice are you excited to see your grandmom on Saturday?" Jack asked. I looked at him with a sad look. Alice looked at me.
"Mommy. What is Uncle Jack talking about?" She asked
"It's nothing sweet heart. Uncle jack is just being an ass clown"
"Clown?" Zack looked around. We all erupted in fits of giggles.
"Yes clowns zack." Alex shook his head at his friend. Rian was silently eating his French fries.
"Ri what's wrong?" I asked.
"I'm actually nervous for California." He admitted.
"Rian I am too it's okay." I patted his back. Alice yawned. "We should get the check." I suggested. Jack nodded raising his had at a waiter.
"Check please." He asked sweetly. That Friday Alex walked into the house at 7 in the morning. I was sitting at the kitchen table with my head in my hands. "Hey sweetie what are you doing?" He sat next to me.
"Just waiting for Alice to wake up." I shrugged.
"Aren't you going to school?" He asked I shook my head no.
"She leaves tomorrow I want to spend time with her." I sighed heavily.
"Oh beck." He rubbed my back "I know it's going to be hard." Someone was jumping down the steps. "MOMMY!" Alice screamed "mommy! Can I have pancakes?" She asked walking in.
"Sure pumpkin." I got up.
"Mommy? Can I have pancakes?" Alex asked sweetly.
"Sure thing pooh bear." I smiled at Alex who gave a crooked smile, looking at his phone, his smile dropped from his face.
"What's wrong?"
"It's Lisa. She won't leave me alone." He tossed me his phone. I read the text after text.
"That dumb...." I stopped talking as Alice looked up at me. "Girl..."
"That dumb girl?" Alex laughed.
"Shut up Lex." I threw a paper towel at him. "The 2 year old is in the room."
"Oh right." Alex rolled his eyes at me. I finished the pancakes, giving everyone some.
"Watch her while I go to change." I walked up stairs putting on the outfit I was wear the day I found out what happened to Alex's brother.
"Beck!" Alex yelled I ran down stairs, sliding into the kitchen "can I have more?" I stared at him with a wide eye look.
"Yeah sure Lex." I made more pancakes for Alex, sitting next to Alice at the table. 6 hours later "Lex wake up"I said to Alex, he was out cold on my bed, with his arms wrapped around me. "Alex. Come on wake up." I tried waking him again. Jack walked into my bedroom, starting to laugh.
"What's going on in here?"he asked, hunched over laughing.
"We fell asleep and I just woke up like this." I tried to wiggle out of his grip, that just tightened on me. "And I can't get out of his grip." I sighed heavily.
"That is too great!" Jack clicked a picture. "Sending this to Rian and Zack."
"Don't you dare!!" I ripped myself from sleeping Alex, tackling jack.
"Give me the phone!"
"Click!! I sent it already!!" He laughed. I was straddling his torso, so I just sat the rest of the way. "Ouch!" Alex sat up, looking at us groggily.
" what the hell?" He said in confusion. I quickly climbed off jack, helping him up.
"This is not what it looks like." I held my hands up in defense.
"Right okay." Alex laid back down.
