And you thought it would be Easy

Mandy, Liz and myself were spread out on our couches in the living room each having our second beers, Stephanie was in the kitchen preparing some bites and nibbles when there was a knock at the door.
" here they come" I mumbled under my breath, expecting some Melbourne based, pretentious, total alternative indie band whose members always look like they dress out of the garbage bin, are always underfed and haven't seen the sun in ages.
To my surprise the three guys that Stephanie opened the door to and hugged in the hallway looked nothing like this, I was already a bit more than tipsy, me being a total lightweight two beers normally did the job of getting me drunk, so my vision wasn't perfect but from what I saw the guys wore baseball shorts and muscle shirts that revealed well build shoulders and lots of tattoos, in fact they looked like a lot of the surfer dudes I used to hang out with back in Australia, although they seemed to be a couple of years older that us.

" may I introduce" Stephs chirpy voice snapped me out of my thoughts " these are Luke, Jia and Gordon from next door and these are my friends Mandy and Liz from upstairs and my best friend and roommate Easy who we celebrate today."
The boys said their hellos and let themselves flop onto the empty spaces on our couches, the guy called Jia sat down right next to me, he was really tall with surfer blonde hair and looked more like a footie player than a muso. That's when it hit me " Y-you know what?" I was starting to slur a bit at that point, "you look a lot like the guys from Parkway Drive, are you a cover band or so? " He looked at me amused and cocked his eyebrows then turned to his friend " Hey, Luke you know what, Goldielocks here just asked me if we cover Parkway Drive cause we 'kinda look a bit like them'. With that the two of them cracked up laughing. "No sweetie were the real deal. Are you a fan?" Luke asked after they had calmed down a bit.

"WHAT? No way. This is so awesome mates. I am from Byron Bay as well, and I think you guys rock, although I am technically not a fan cause I am just not into this kind of music, I totally support you though, you are by far the most famous guys that ever made it from our town full of hippies, beach bums and dreamers." "We're totally okay with that" Luke laughed "not everybody can get our music, but thanks for the support anyways" After that we had a full-on conversation about places, people, clubs and beaches in our hometown that we all knew. "Sorry, what was your name again, love?" Jia asked after a while. " my name is Isabelle, but everybody just calls me Easy" I replied. He frowned obviously trying to follow some thought. "There was this junior surfer grom back in Byron probably five or six years ago, she was pretty good, her nickname was Easy too. Can't remember what happened to her though. Think she had some kind of accident. You don't happen to know her by any chance?." My face had fallen when he started his question and Luke had noticed and face palmed in embarrassment. "you are such a Desmond, mate" Luke slapped Jia's shoulder. Finally it dawned on him " Oooh, oh, I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to.. " his voice trailed off. " it's okay guys, that was in the past. I just don't like to talk about it now." I replied with a weak smile.

" so what actually are we celebrating?" Luke asked trying to change the subject." Our lovely Aussie lady here just got a new job that will enable her to stay even longer in the States, and pay half of my rent here." Steph answered the question while plopping between Jia and Luke "she is a bus driver for this years Warped Tour, Gentlemen." There was a moment of silence to this announcement before all three guys bursted out laughing hysterically curling themselves up holding their stomachs and rolling from the couch to the floor. "Hahaha, for real? That's the best joke I've heard in a long time. What a shame we don't play Warped this year, I would have loved to see the faces when she steps off the bus first day. Ahhhaaa, god I'm tearing up here." Luke couldn't get over it.

I on the other hand got pretty pissed with them "well, you don't have to be superman to drive a fucking bus, girls can do this too, you know. No need to be such dicks about it." My outburst sobered them up a bit "Ey, sorry love I didn't mean to hurt you there, it's just, well Warped is pretty much a mans world and a pretty rough one too. It's just hard to picture you as a truckie there" with that Luke started to giggle again "Not saying you couldn't pull it off." He added quickly after seeing my glare.
I am not a person that can hold a grudge for too long so I simply kicked his side as he was still sitting on the floor and said "you can make it up to me by going for a surf tomorrow morning no matter how hungover we will be" He high fives me saying "Deal, I pick you up at 8, better be ready" with that he crawled back onto the couch snuggling up to me. I made him tell me all of his Warped stories and memories, most of them were really funny but some were also extremely weird it seems this tour is a world of its own. The time went by really fast Steph and Jia were dancing in the kitchen blasting music from our old radio. Gordon and Liz were deep in conversation about god knows what, Mandy just fell asleep and Luke who was actually a really nice guy kept cuddling with me on the couch all sweet and innocently, I must have dozed off at some point because I awoke the next morning still on the couch with his arms around me. My hangover wasn't actually that bad so I turned around to Luke planting a kiss on his stubbly cheek "Rise and shine, mate you promised to take me surfing" He grunted trying to roll over but managed to push me off the couch in his attempt. " whoa, so much hate, dude I knew I didn't like you today. I will make us some coffee maybe that will get you in a better mood" I got up to walk to the kitchen only to fall over the empty bottles that were strewn across the floor. We would have to clean up later, I made a mental note to ask Liz and Mandy to help us since they were probably responsible for some of it anyways. When I came back with two steaming mugs of cappuccino Luke was awake sitting on the couch rubbing his face, he looked up with a smile. "Sorry for that. I am just used to bigger beds. Give me half an hour to go home, shower and get dressed and we'll be off to the beach" . "awesome, I checked the surfcam on my phone before and conditions look really good today"
