“Vic this is stupid. I have enough already, you’re wasting your money” we’d only been shopping for 20 minutes. Vic was in front of me, flicking through the rails as he passed them. I was traipsing along behind him a lot less enthusiastically, dragging my feet. I hated shopping at the best of times.

“Are you gunna help me or just complain?” He turned to face me with a mocking smile on his face, raising his eyebrows.

“Y’know I could just choose for you, but I’m not sure we have the same taste…” He said as he picked up a ridiculously short skirt that could have easily been passed off as a belt. His smile turned into a devilish grin.

“Yeah. That’s not happening” I took it off of him and slammed it back on the rail. I carried on walking a little way past Vic; I could hear him following me. I tried to show a little more enthusiasm, picking things out that I liked the look of. But there was a big difference between what I liked and what I had the guts to wear.

“We can do this all day” He threatened. I resisted the urge to flip him off as he was doing this for me. I turned and poked my tongue out at him instead, making him chuckle. I came across the most gorgeous pair of wet look leather leggings; I was instantly drawn to them. Vic noticed they had caught my eye and hovered behind me as I ran their material through my fingers. I checked the label, they were in my size. I looked at them longingly. They were pretty daring. Incredibly tight fit, wouldn’t leave much to the imagination. I wasn’t sure if I would ever be brave enough to wear them. Before I could open my mouth to protest, the leggings were whipped out of my hands. I turned to see Vic making a run for the checkouts. I called out for him but he didn’t stop, only turning to grin at me once he was paying for them. I rolled my eyes at him, letting a smile creep onto my face. I walked up to the checkout to meet him.

“Now that wasn’t too painful was it?” He said to me, swinging the shopping bag by his side.

“I guess not” I huffed.

“Thank you” I looked him in the eyes sincerely. I really did love the bones of him; I’d missed having my best friend around. He smiled back at me.

“You’re welcome. Come on, we’ve got more to buy” He playfully pushed me in front of him with a grin.

“Ugh, really? Can’t we just go back now?” I whined at him like a 3 year old.

“Seriously?! I thought girls loved shopping?”

“Yeah, well. I don’t”

“Obviously…” He murmured under his breath, I was unsure if I was supposed to hear it so I didn’t respond.


A few hours later, and a lot of shopping bags later, we were in Vic’s car driving back to the house.

“I’ve just got to drop something over at Alex’s, that okay?” He risked a look at me. I could tell by his tone of voice he knew I wouldn’t be happy about it. I planned to avoid Alex as long as possible. I grimaced at him.

“You can stay in the car? I’ll literally be like, 2 minutes… Pleaaassee” He jutted out his bottom lip, pulling his best sad face at me.

“Vic keep your eyes on the road” Was he trying to kill us? Still, he didn’t break off his stare. Nor did he slow down.

“Vic, are you suicidal?!” I was losing my cool. He put his foot on the accelerator, we were going faster. His eyes had not left mine.

“Look at the damn road!” I was yelling now, but his stare did not falter.

“FINE!” As soon as the words left my mouth, he grinned and returned his eyes to the road in front of him.

“You are something else. Really” I huffed, waiting for my heart rate to go back down. Vic only chuckled in response.

“You love me” He said smugly.

“That’s the only reason I’m not kicking your ass right now”

I felt my heart accelerate as we pulled into Alex’s road, not sure what to expect.
