Alex sat in shock for a little wondering if what he thought he heard was real. He turned his head so it was facing Jack. Jack's skunk hair was flopped in his face, leaving not features to see. Alex still hate the fact Jack is afraid to lift his head up. It's like he doesn't want anyone to see the real him.

"You do?" Alex questioned, still really unsure if he meant it. Jack continued starring down at his knees. The wind brushed past us and as the wind hit Jack's hair to a side, Alex swore he saw a smile at his lips. The wind stopped too quickly, so he didn't really get a chance to see his smile.

"W-well you haven't walked away from m-me yet." Jack stuttered, going back to his shy state. Alex froze for a second. He wondered why Jack would think he'd walk away from him.

"Jack, I wouldn't walk away from you. I haven't and I never will." Alex said firmly, believing in his own words. He was confident in them becoming friends or even best friends.

"Why?" Jack asked, stiffening a little in the new cold air that suddenly showed up. Alex let the question hang in the air. The true reason he hasn't left Jack is because there's just something about him. The way his hair covers up all his features. The way he walks, slightly slow and sheepishly. The fact that he doesn't talk to anyone else but Alex.

"I-there's so many reasons." Alex admitted, puffing the answer out with a breath. He felt like Jack needed somebody by his side. Yeah, Alex hasn't known Jack that long, maybe he all Jack wants is to be alone. But something in his actions tells Alex the opposite. To Alex, Jack looks just about fragile. Jack hasn't met no friends in school and Alex knows that because he's seen Jack in the library multiple of times; he knows Jack's not in there for the books or to gain new knowledge. He's in there for a minute of silence. Just enough time to feel relaxed and safe.

Alex and Jack sat in the silence, small, quiet tweets coming from the birds. It's turned quite dark with the weather being gray and cold. Jack shivered slightly against the bitter cold, rubbing his arms a little.

"I-I'm gonna go. I-it's really cold." Jack chattered through his teeth, the wind catching between them. Alex nodded understandably, as he too was freezing. With that, they both got up, silently making their way over to the swinging wood. As they exited the forest, Alex turned to face Jack.

"Thank you." He smiled. Jack stopped and nodded.

"Thank you. " Jack said seriously. He still wanted to say thank you to all the things Alex has helped him through. All the times he saved him from hurting himself. The way he uses his words on Jack defiantly make him feel, well,.. welcomed. Like somebody actually does care for him- even if it's the slightest bit of care and worry.

Alex grew a big grin, starring at Jack for a moment.

"Bye, Jack." He said sweetly, really wanting to hug the boy but he knew better; he didn't want to creep the boy out. Jack mumbled a quiet, quick goodbye and they shuffled away from each other, both going to two different and complete lifestyles.
