The Rock Show

Avoiding Doesn't Last Forever

It had been three days, and Victoria and Jack still hadn’t said a word to each other. Victoria had managed to avoid him at all costs, even coming to the bus later than usual and leaving earlier in the morning to not bump into her guitarist friend. When the band had to come to the tent after each set for the meet and greet, she left to walk around the venue until she knew they were gone.

She knew she was being a coward, but she couldn’t face him. She knew he was going to ask how she felt about him and she didn’t want to let him down. She wanted their friendship back, but Jack wanted more than she did. She tried block out the voice in her head saying, You could learn to love him. But, in all honesty, the love she had for Jack was the different than the so-called love he had for her. The only thing she could do was avoid him and stay quiet.
But she knew she couldn’t do that forever. Someday she’d have to finally talk with him.

Today was not that day, though.

---

It had been a long day in Tinley Park, Illinois. There were a lot more fans than Victoria had expected here and the weather was scorching, not to mention it was another day of avoiding Jack. She tried to make the best of it though, because she ended up making friends with some of the guys of Bring Me The Horizon.

Victoria walked slowly to the back of the first lot at the end of the day, spotting Tonight Alive’s bus right at the end. She knocked a few times on the door and was welcomed by their bassist, Cam Adler. “Hey, you’re the ATL merch and photo chick, right?” He asked in his thick Aussie accent.

“Yeah,” she nodded as he gestured for her to come inside.

“JENNA, YOU’RE NEW LADY FRIEND IS HERE!” Cam hollered to the back lounge where Jenna soon emerged from behind the curtain.

“Ah, Vic! Come on back here!” Jenna smiled warmly as Victoria followed and waved goodbye to the rest of the band seated in the front lounge.

Victoria took a seat on the round couch snugged in the back, spying the book Jenna had put down before Victoria had got there, Wuthering Heights, and the soft sounds of No Doubt through her speakers. “So, what’s up? Thought you’d be back at your bus at this time of the day,” Jenna questioned, taking the spot next to her.

“Usually, I would be,” Victoria nodded, “but I really need someone to talk to.”

Jenna’s expression suddenly became concerned. “What’s wrong, babe?”

And so she let it all out, everything that she’d been keeping to herself, she finally said it. She told her of the thing with Lisa, what Jack had said to her, and how she felt about all of it. And the best thing was, Jenna didn’t judge. She understood how Victoria was feeling, and she didn’t scold her for feeling or reacting the way she did. She knew what Victoria was going through, and she didn’t lecture her on what she did wrong. She was the best person to come to in tough situations, and Victoria had never been more glad to become her friend.

Alex had been in the dark for the past couple of days. He had been noticing something going on with Victoria, mostly the fact that she had been avoiding both him and Jack. He knew he did nothing wrong and neither did Jack, so what was he missing here? She had been spending a lot of time with Jenna from Tonight Alive lately, so he thought that was his best shot at getting an answer.

As he was walking back to their bus, he took a sharp right and bounded toward their TA’s bus. He pounded the door with his fist and to his luck, Jenna opened the door.

“Hi-ya, Al―” Her smile then turned to shocked wide eyes. “Oh, shit.” She then slammed the door in his face.

Alex furrowed his brow and knocked on the door again, hearing Jenna’s voice ring inside, “Busy!”

“Jen, I know you’re not busy! Open the fucking door!” He called to her.

After a few moments, she slowly opened the door with a guilty expression. “Sorry, Lex, I was―uh―”

“Forget about it,” he muttered, pushing the door more open and walking inside the bus, hearing videogames being played in the back. “I need to talk to you, and it seems like you know why.”

“I …” She played with her fingers behind her back. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Jen, I’m being serious right now. Victoria has been really hanging around you lately and is avoiding me and Jack hardcore. I know that you know why.” He said, pointing to her expression that had guilt written all over it. “Now, spill.”

“Okay,” she sighed, “but you have to promise to not do anything stupid after I tell you.”

And that’s when Alex told the biggest lie of his life: “I promise.”

Notes

I've finally finished reposting all the other chapters, and HERE'S A NEW ONE FINALLY!
I know I'll never get about the amazing amount of subscribers I had before, but I don't care. I've put that past behind me because, honestly, all I want here is readers who stuck with me. The ones who got through those couple days of the repost and listening to me whine about how bad I felt. But my sadness is gone, and I'm ready to start new again. And what's better to start with? A NEW CHAPTER, OF COURSE!
By the way, I love all of you<3
