For Baltimore (Part Two)

Chapter 13

Delilah~~

I woke up early the next morning with no specific reason. I removed myself from Alex's side, and I sauntered into the kitchen. I got myself a glass of water and took a drink before setting it on the counter. I leaned against it and ran a hand through my messy and tangled black hair. I sighed and closed my eyes. I kept them closed for a while. How long? I didn't know. I only opened them when I heard Alex enter the kitchen.

"You okay?" He asked quietly.

"No." I muttered. He sighed and placed his hands on my hips. He pulled me into him and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

"We can get through this, baby. I know we can." He said quietly.

"I'm supposed to believe that?" I asked.

"Yes." Alex said. I took a deep breath and then released it.

"We should probably get started on wedding plans." I said as I pulled away from him. He nodded and kissed me gently. He pulled me into the living room, and we sat on the couch. Alex grabbed a notepad and a pen and clicked the top of it.

"Okay. First off, do we want an inside wedding, or an outside wedding?" Alex asked. I thought for a minute.

"An outside wedding would be lovely." I said.

"I agree with you on that. When should we have it?" He asked as he scribbled words down on the paper.

"Definitely in the summer. An outside wedding in the winter would be no bueno." I said. Alex looked at me and chuckled before kissing my nose.

"What month in the summer? We've only got three to choose from.." Alex said, scribbling more notes down.

"August. On the sixth." I said.

"Any specific reason for that date?" Alex asked with curiosity as he scribbled that down as well, obviously agreeing with it.

"No." I said simply.

"An evening wedding for sure then. How about the reception? Where should that be?" Alex asked. I nodded.

"We could do it at someone else's house.." I suggested. Alex seemed to ponder that for a minute.

"We could ask Rian, since he has a giant backyard." He said.

"He does?" I asked, to which Alex nodded.

"Okay." I said with a smile.

"Great! Hand me the phone so I can call him real quick." Alex said. I handed over the phone, and he took it. He dialed Rian's number and waited. When they finally got off the phone, it was apparent that Rian had agreed.

"All right. Let's discuss... the theme." Alex said after he finished writing a couple words down.

"Oh! I'll pick a color, you pick a color." I said. Alex grinned.

"Sounds good. What color do you want?" He asked.

"Obviously purple. But not super light. A darker purple." I said.

"Okay.. like, Amethyst?" Alex asked, and I looked at him with a wide smile.

"That's perfect! Yes. Amethyst." I said, "your turn."

"Uh okay... we could do.. what goes good with Amethyst though?" He asked. I didn't answer that.

"Oh! Silver!" He said. I smiled.

"That would be beautiful." I said. I kissed him and he jotted it down.

"The bridesmaids could wear Amethyst dresses, and the groomsmen could wear silver suits. It could work!" I said.

"That's amazing! Okay.. now, centerpieces. For the tables." Alex said.

"White roses and purple carnations. Not together of course. One vase of each flower on one table. We could do a pattern with this." I said. Alex nodded.

"This is great. Okay. We're gonna get in deep. Tablecloths?"

"Same thing with the flowers. One table has a purple tablecloth, another has a silver or white one, depending on what we can find." I said. Alex nodded again as he scribbled it down.

"Cake?" He asked.

"We can go test some cakes this week sometime. We might need to call a professional or something." I said.

"Okay. What else are we forgetting?" He asked.

"No clue. Oh! Bouquet!" I said.

"Same flowers as the centerpieces." Alex muttered.

"And same for... do you want the bridesmaids to have corsages?" I asked.

"Oh. Definitely." Alex said.

"Then same for those as well. And the boutonnieres for sure." I said.

"Alright. Now, let's make a list of who we're going to invite." Alex said.

"You're such a girl, Gaskarth!" I said with a smile. He grinned.

"Your girl, Gray." He said with a smirk. I laughed and kissed him. Hard. When we pulled away, Alex was grinning at me from ear to ear.

"Haven't heard you laugh like that in over a week. It's great to hear." he said. I smiled wider.

"Shut up, you ass face; and hand me a pen so I can write some names down." I said. He chuckled and handed me a ballpoint pen. I tore off a piece of paper from his notepad, and started jotting down names.

  • Jack Barakat
  • Rian Dawson
  • Zack Merrick
  • Michelle Gray
  • Peter Gaskarth
  • Isobel Gaskarth
  • May Barakat
  • Cassadee Pope
  • Danny Kurily
  • Matt Flyzik
  • Matt Colussey
  • Lainey Nilsson
And there were a few others as well. Alex and I decided to call an expert on shit like this, so we did. The woman was scheduled at two, so we cleaned up the house, took a short shower together, got ready, and waited. We were prepared to talk to her about our plans so far, and we were hoping it would work. Around 1:50 was when she knocked on the door, and i answered, smoothing my sundress out. I let her in, and led her to the living room where Alex was currently sat.

"Hello. I'm Miss Stephanie. I work for Wedding Associates, and you called?" She asked, her voice like glass. I smiled warmly.

"Hello Stephanie. I'm Delilah, and this is my fiance Alex." I said as i gestured toward him. He looked up and stood up, shaking her small hand. He sat back down and I followed his lead.

"Please, take a seat right there." I said as I pointed to the couch across from us. She gladly sat down, her strawberry blonde hair falling over her left shoulder.

"May I ask what you've already got planned?" She asked sweetly. Alex slid the paper across the glass top of the coffee table, and she slowly read it over.

"This is a perfect start. I'm sure I can get you two a reservation in the park a little ways down the road. They're famous for having weddings there, and what you have here will be absolutely perfect for it. Not too many people I see. So it's a small wedding?" She asked.

"Um yes." I said.

"Perfect. I see.. you're missing a cake. We can go do that right now, if you'd like." She said. I looked at Alex who had a smile on his face.

"That would be great." I said. Miss Stephanie smiled brightly.

"Awesome! I know this little bakery.. just a ways from here that makes beautiful and delicious wedding cakes. Let's go." She said. Alex and I followed her out of the house and into the warm afternoon sun. We got in her car, and she drove us all to the bakery.

After an hour of tasting the most marvelous cakes I'd ever tasted, it was down to two. One was a delicious German cake with chocolate frosting, and the other was a Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

"In all honesty here, I'm going to have to choose the Red Velvet. It's magnificent." I said. I looked at Alex.

"I'm going to have to agree with you. The German cake absolutely fantastic.. but holy shit was the Red Velvet good." He said. I smiled and Miss Stephanie scribbled down the cake on our sheet of paper with a big smile. She stood up and walked over to the counter, ordering us our cake for our wedding in four months.

We returned home, and Miss Stephanie said she'd see us tomorrow. She left with a bright smile, and Alex and I flopped onto the couch. He pushed his lips onto mine. They tasted sweet, and they were somewhat sticky from the frosting. I smiled and kissed him back. Oh man, did I love this man.
