What (Jack POV)
Jack POV
I was nervous to meet Alex’s friends. I mean, what if they didn’t like me? Alex and I just had to walk to the bar for a few minutes, I loved how everything was so close to him. The bar was a nice little pub albeit smoky. The walls were of a deep red and the tables were dark brown. Alex led me to a table close to the restroom with two other dudes, both rather muscular but one was especially trained. The less muscular one got up to hug me.
“Hi, I’m Rian. You must be Jack?” he said friendlily. He had the most amazing smile ever with very white teeth.
“Yes,” I said. I felt still shy but it was getting better by the second.
“My name’s Zack. Nice to meet you,” the bulky one said after having gotten up and hugging me.
We sat down and Alex and I ordered a beer. It tasted amazing, sparkly, fresh, savoury. We talked about the weather and some unimportant things at first, then got down to more interesting ones.
“So, Jack, what do you do?” Zack asked.
“I work in a little French restaurant, 23 Baldwin Street here. You should check it out,” I said with a little smile. I was really warming up to those guys. They nodded.
“As long as we get a discount,” Rian said with a wink and a grin.
“Always,” I gave back.
We talked for some more until I realized I needed to pee. I got up and left for the bathroom, a small room with a toilet and a urinal. It didn’t smell too nice. I peed and then went outside again.
When I stood at the door, I overheard Zack saying, “Well, isn’t he a bit weird?”
I stopped in my tracks. Were they talking about me?
“Yeah I agree, sometimes he is,” Alex said. What?! I couldn’t believe my ears. Alex thought I was weird.
“D’you think he’s cute?” Rian said.
“Nah, not really,” Alex replied. My heart made a very weird sound and everything began to hurt. I walked out of my hiding place, feeling nothing but pain, and grabbed my jacket on the go. I left without looking back.
