Your Lost Boy

Fourteen

Another set down and I couldn't be more excited about it. Touring had been my entire life, until Jules came along. Now I found myself feeling anxious for tour to end so that I could get her home, become her husband and prepare for parenthood together. Natrually, I'd start touring again once the babies were born.. I hoped. Truthfully, I wasn't sure if I could handle being away from my family for so long. Maybe I'll just stick to small tours until the children are older.

On this day, I had plans and I knew Jules would probably bite my head off for it when I returned to the bus later. I told her I'd come back right after our set, but the truth was, she was wearing my clothes more often than I which served as a bit of a problem. I loved seeing her in my clothes, in some odd way it made me feel connected to her, and damn did she look good in them; but I needed them, too. Having that weighing on my mind through the extent of our set, I asked Jack to head back and keep her busy until I returned. He was well known for getting under her skin, but she loved him, no denying that.

I snuck off the ground and made my way through the city on foot. This wasn't going to get me anywhere, I couldn't stay focused. Instead of searching the streets, I had my phone direct me to the nearest baby store. It was a small shop, not some big departement store. A part of me wanted to call Jack and have him bring Jules by, just because I thought she would enjoy it, but decided against it. I wanted to surprise her, lift her spirits, which meant I had to work alone.

The racks of clothes didn't seem much in her taste, but I did manage to find a few cute shirts I was hoping she'd be fond of. One of them was solid black, with lace covering the back. Another was stripped in white and navy blue, I always liked that color on her, so I had to buy it. I skimmed those racks until I loaded up on at least five shirts and three pairs of jeans- From skinny to flares. Add another three pairs of shorts to the mix and I figured she'd have enough to get her by until she swelled a little more. My favorite item of maternity clothes, however, was the pajama set I couldn't resist. It was pink and black, the tank top reading: PREGNANT CHICKS ARE HOT. It was funny, 'cause in her case, it was true.

Smiling to myself, I walked up to the register, placing the huge stack of clothes on the counter. The lady who was ringing me up eyed me closely, a gently grin on her face.

"First baby?"

"Babies," I corrected her, grinning like a fool. "And yes. My fiancee keeps stealing all my clothes, so I thought maybe I should buy her some of her own. Surprise her."

"Maybe she just likes to wear your clothes," the lady shrugged, placing the items neatly in a bag. "Know what you're having yet?"

"A boy and a girl."

The woman continued to speak, but my mind had trailed away from her. Behind the counter was a variety of baby clothes, two things in particular capturing my attention. There was a sign above this certain row, stating that these were meant to be custom clothes you had to order, but there were two on that wall that would be perfect the way they were.

"Excuse me," I looked at the woman, as she aws about to give me my total. "How much begging would I have to do in order to get those onesies on the wall?"

"Those?" She turned around, pointing to the custom clothes. "Have to order 'em."

"But what if you had two on the wall I wanted as they were? I'll pay full price."

"Nonsense," she smiled. "Which are they?"

"The pink one with S and the blue one with the T."

"Done."

I thanked the lady until I couldn't thank her anymore, grabbing my oversized bag and leaving the store. The warm air slapped me in the face, hard. It had been so cool in that store. It didn't matter, though, I was too excited to get back to Jules with my surprise. She couldn't stay mad at me once she sees whav I've done, could see? I was just about to round the corner that would lead me back to the grounds when I remembered one thing - Flowers. There wasn't a lot I could manage on my own without Jules making her input, because this was her wedding and it was going to be exactly what she wanted it to be, no matter how much work we'd have to put into it. She'd just been stressing so much over everything lately that I wanted to take some of the pressure off. My feet carried me across the street, where a small flower shop was located. The sweet scent danced around my nostrils as I opened the door. I was glad I hadn't invtied Jules now, the smell might have upset her stomach.

"Can I help you?"

"Uh, yeah," I smiled, glancing around the shop. It wasn't huge, not at all, but all of the flowers were gorgeous and blooming with life. "Can I have one of.. Everything?"

"Everything?"

"Everything."

Fifteen minutes later and I was finally headed back to the bus, a giant bouquet of flowers and a bag filled with goodies for Jules. My nerves started to get the best of me as the bus came into view. Please I thought please don't let her be mad at me. I stepped onto the bus, quietly closing the door behind me. The only sound was coming from the lounge room, so I dragged my feet in that direction, almost expecting to see Jack murdered on the floor. I was almost shocked to see Rian, Zack and Jack focused on a game, Jules cheering them on quietly. Everytime one of them would shoot at the correct target, she would throw her arms in the air and clap her hands lightly. I stayed there for a long moment, just watching the smile on her face. It was good to see her so happy.

"Jules," I whispered, not wanting to distrub the game. "Come here."

She twisted her head in my direction and furrowed her brows, but eventually she obeyed. I led her back to our bunk, which I realize was cramped, but at least it was cozy. She sat down across from me, her eyes lingering on the flowers in my hand. I snickered to myself and handed them over, watching a blush come to her cheeks as she stared at them in awe.

"Those, my dear, are for you. I thought that maybe you could go through them and maybe pick what kind of flower you'd like to have for the wedding. And don't feel bad if you don't like any of them. There wasn't a lot to pick from."

Tears formed in those big beautiful eyes again. I felt guilty, maybe she wanted to go shopping on her own, or maybe she just wanted to go with me. I sighed and rested my hand on her leg.

"They're beautiful," she finally whispered. "You didn't have to do this, Alex. I love them all."

"Well take your time picking one, if you even want one of those. I didn't mean to upset you."

"You didn't," she grinned. "These are happy tears."

"I just want to take some of the stress off of you, ya know? I've even decided my wedding party. Jack will be the best man, Zack and Ri the groomsmen. We could even use the crew for music and lights, or whatever else you want. So long as you feel like you're living in a fairy tale," I bent over to kiss her forehead, then I remembered I still had the clothes. "That's not all of your surprise. I know you're feeling a little insecure about your weight, which you shouldn't, because you have the most beautiful glow to your skin I've ever seen. Regardless, I bought you these today."

I pulled the onesies out of the bag and hid them under my leg, handing the rest over to her. As much as I wanted her to see her new clothes, I was too excited about the baby clothes. She was just about to open the bag when I lifted them from the floor, smiling wildly as I placed one on each leg. She looked at them for a moment, a little confused, but a smile broke through that serious face as she lifted Stella's to her face.

"Alex," she gushed. "They're beautiful!"

"I hope you like them." I picked up the one for Thomas and laid it across her stomach, laughing at the way it seemed to fit perfectly, only the bottom hanging off towards her jeans. "I saw them and I just couldn't resist."

"I only wish you had taken me with you," she frowned. "Now that you've bought them something, I feel left out." Again with the tears. Her face was turning pink from her attempt to hold them in. "I hate these stupid hormones."

"Shh," I cooed, trying to relax her. "If you want, I'll take you out on our next day off. We can go look at wedding things and baby things, whatever you want."

"You promise?" Those brown eyes were gazing deep down in my soul.

"Anything for you, porcelain."

She smiled, wiping away her tears. She'd never been more beautiful than she was in that moment. Baby clothes tossed around her, her jeans unbottoned against her bump, and my baggy shirt hanging off of her flesh. How on Earth had I gotten so lucky?
