Chapter Twenty Nine

*Jack pov*

It was Friday night, and Jack was curled up on the couch with Jenna whilst the blonde watched whatever show was on. Nothing interested Jack. He just wanted to sleep. He wanted today to disappear and for the pain to go with it. He wanted his sister back, brushing his hair and tying his shoelaces for him like when he was a boy. He wanted the heartache from missing her too end. He wanted to see her, to speak to her, to know she was okay.
His eyes were heavy from his sleepless night, his body felt numb, his mind was empty. Laying his head against Jenna's shoulder, he closed his eyes and begged sleep to take over his body. The girl wrapped her arm over his shoulder and pulled him closer, but for the first time it didn't feel right. Her arms wee too skinny, too petite. Her body had bumps and curves in the wrong places. She didn't smell of tea, or have caramel coloured hair. Jack wanted Alex. Nothing felt right without him. He needed him.
"What's up?" Jenna asked softly when she heard Jack sigh.
"Alex." He replied simply, opening his eyes and staring at where the windows was covered by the curtain. The boy was literally a second away, but it felt like he was on the other side of the world.
"Shall I go and get him?" The blonde asked, flicking a piece of Jack's raven hair back into place.
"No. He doesn't want me." He answered with a shake of his head, his cheek squashing against her shoulder as he spoke. As much as the dark haired boy wanted to believe that he was wanted by the older boy next door, he just couldn't. He was desperately trying to stop himself from falling for him because he felt certain that Alex wouldn't be there to catch him. These thoughts were the reason Jenna's words surprised him.
"Oh Jack. He wants you. More than anything." Scowling in disbelief, he sat up slightly to give her the look, but she just smiled and shrugged.
"The look he have me earlier today when you came in spoke a thousands words in one moment. That's all I'm saying." She finished and lay down once more, leaving Jack sitting up, a confused frown plastered on his face. The things that came out of this girls mouth would never cease to astound him. There was no way Alex wanted him, or even cared about him anymore. He hadn't tried to speak to him since he walked out the house, surely that said a lot.
Deciding there was no hope and Jenna was going mad, he snuggled back into her arms and closed his eyes once more. He tried to banish any thoughts of Alex away but they didn't want to leave. His mind was a dark swarm of bad thoughts, with one small flame of hope lit in the middle.
'Jenna's never been wrong before, maybe she's right... What if he does still want me?'

-------------------------------------------------------

"Stop fidgeting, sort your shoe lace out, come on." Jenna told Jack sternly, making the boy roll his eyes, before re-tieing his shoe lace. The pair were sat in the therapy waiting room, as Jenna had insisted that Jack goes and that she would come with him. Why he had let her talk him in to coming he didn't know, he never came on occasions like this and Penny knew that. So now, instead of lying in bed catching up on the sleep he lost, he would be sitting in that room listening to the two girls happily talk the day away.
'There's nothing more if rather do that listen to talk about shoes for an hour!' He said to himself sarcastically, while he stretched out his arms. His body was still waking up, and he scrunched his eyes up and stretched his legs as well, enjoying the tingling feeling in his muscles. Once he felt stretched and awake, he sorted his messy hair and then it was time for them to go in. Jenna rolled her eyes as Jack sighed loudly, before trailing after the blonde like a child in trouble with his mum. When they walked in, Jack saw Penny's eyes light up when her gaze locked with Jenna's, but she remained professional until she had spoken to Jack and checked he was alright. He made it short, not really caring and knowing she didn't either. It just had to be done. When the therapist was content, she immediately turned to Jenna and they started talking in excited, high pitched voices. As he predicted, the conversation quickly diverted to the women's new shoes, which looked plain and boring and normal to Jack. But hey, what did he know? Sighing, he slumped back in his chair and pushed his legs out in front of him, chuckling to himself at how long they were.
"Just zone out and day dream about Alex." Jenna suddenly said to him, winking, before returning to the shoe conversation. Jack frowned skeptically at her for a few moments, unsure of where that came from, before deciding it was actually quite a good idea. Closing his eyes, he rested his head in the back of the chair, and let his mind wander.

~

Jack found himself standing at the edge of a cliff, smiling. Merely three strides in front of him was a sheer drop, and he could hear the waves slapping the base of the cliff as they wrestled together. It was a strange contrast to the calmness of the sea when he gazed further out. The green grass was soft beneath his feet, and the breeze ruffled his raven hair as he lifted his face up to bathe in the sunlight. The air smelt salty, as it would by the sea. It was a beautiful place, wherever it was, and the tall boy felt free. In this moment, it felt like nothing at all mattered. He had no worries, no fears, no problems. The world felt simple and beautiful.
Upon hearing his voice, Jack turned around, his eyes instantly locking with the eyes of the person who had spoken.
"Alex?" The brunette was stood a few metres away from him, the sun dancing on his soft hair, a small smile playing on his lips. The look in his eyes scared Jack, yet he wasn't entirely certain it was a bad look. Alex motioned for Jack to come closer, so he did, wandering over slowly. When they were close enough for Jack to just pick up the smell of tea that clung to the brunette he stopped, unsure of what was going on.
"Why won't you come closer? Don't you want me?" Alex asked, his voice low and husky, smirking slightly.
"You know I want you." Jack replied, feeling his cheeks heat up slightly as the smirk on the brunettes face spread. The shorter boy walked the short distance between them so they stood chest to chest.
"Good." Was all he said before grabbing Jack's shirt and pulling his face down to close the distance between them. The taller boy immediately melted into the touch, roughly moving his lips against Alex's. He forgot about the cliff and the sea and the grass, his mind was completely and totally focused on Alex. The moment was bliss. He felt competed once more, and the feeling of nothing mattering returned to his bones, making a smile spread across his face.
However, the smile faltered when he felt Alex's grip tighten on his shirt and the ground disappeared from beneath his feet. Jack was now hanging over the edge of the cliff, with only Alex's grip stopping him from falling. He felt weightless, but fear was overwhelming him.
"Fall, Jack. I'll catch you." The brunette whispered, his eyes bright. Jack's eyes widened as he stared in horror at the older boy. What the hell? He shook his head, not trusting his voice. If Alex let go there was no way of saving Jack. He would just fall, helplessly into the crashing waves below. Yet Alex said he would catch him. Was he crazy?
"Fall. I'll be there." Alex spoke again, kissing Jack's lips before releasing the grip on the taller boys shirt. Suddenly, he was falling. Wind was pounding into his back as he stared up at the sky, waiting for the inevitable crash to come, signalling his end.

~

"ALEX!" Jack woke with a start, his eyes flying open and his breathing heavy. His heart was pounding loudly in his chest, and his palms were sweaty. Looking around he saw Jenna and Penny staring at him with confused and concerned looks in their eyes. He was in the therapy room. He was okay.
'Thank fuck it was just a dream..' He said to himself, running his hand through his hair to calm himself down. That had freaked him out big time. Part of him wished he had found out whether Alex had caught him or not. Something told him the dream meant something else, put he couldn't work it out. Breathing out loudly he stood up, still shaking slightly.
"What just happened? You woke up shouting Alex, you know that right?" Jenna asked, frowning as her eyes scanned Jack's body and face. He nodded.
"Yeah I know, just a weird dream. Let's go." Waving at Penny he turned and walked out the door, leaving Jenna to follow behind when she was ready. Quickly, he scuttled outside and leant on the wall, letting the cool January breeze tingle his cheeks. He let all the emotions from his dream spill out of his body, and his heart rate and breathing returned to normal just as Jenna emerged. Seemingly, the blonde had decided not to question him, as the pair made their way back to Jack's house.
They got back, and the lanky boy plopped himself down on the sofa, channel flicking before settling on Kung Fu Panda that was playing on one of the movie channels.
"You're such a child." Jenna commented, handing him a muffin along with a juice carton. He just smiled widely up at her, accepting the food before returning his attention to the movie. After a few minutes of scuffling around in the kitchen, Jenna emerged and announced she was going home. She walked over and ruffled Jack's hair, before saying goodbye and walking out of the door. Rolling his eyes at the girl, even though she had already gone, he took another bite out of his muffin.
A maximum of five minutes passed, and the doorbell rang.
"What has she forgotten?" He muttered, standing up to answer it. Briefly he wondered why she wasn't using her keys to get back into the house, before looking around to see if he could spot anything. When he didn't, he shrugged, and opened the door. Safe to say, he was surprised by what he saw. Alex.
The brunette was stood with a box in his hands, with a cookie saying 'i screwed up, I miss you xoxox' in pink and red icing on it. Sat in the top corner of the box was a small teddy, wearing a blue shirt reading 'I'm beary sorry'. If Jack wasn't in complete shock he would've laughed. Then his eyes reached his face. His hair lay perfectly across his face, not a single strand seemed out of place. His nose looked dainty and adorable, and his lips were curved around a red rose that was slotted between his teeth.
"Hey Jack." He mumbled nervously, making the fear in his beautiful brown eyes more obvious. Jack held his gaze for a moment, trying to work out if this was a genuine apology. The way his eyebrows were coming together as the seconds dragged out, and how his shoulders were slacking made Jack realise that Alex was here to get him back. Alex did want him. At this thought, a grin broke across Jack's face, and instantly the worry across Alex's face faded and a smile broke his lips.
"Do you want to come in?" Jack invited, keeping his gaze locked with Alex's.
"If you'll have me." He replied, raising his eyebrows hopefully. Jack chuckled, stepping out of the doorway and motioning for the older boy to follow him into the house. He did, putting the stuff down on the table, leaving the two boys standing opposite each other, neither sure what to say but both unable to wipe the grins off of their faces. A sudden boldness and lust came over Jack, and the need for Alex overflowed.
"Of course I'll have you." He said, trying to put on his best sexy voice before stepping towards the shorter boy, grabbing his hands and pulling him forward, bending his head down to push their lips together. Alex instantly responded, and just like in his dream, they moulded together. Jack felt complete. He felt happy, blissful and relieved. Maybe Alex did want him, and he would be there to catch him. In that moment, he decided to let himself fall. Nothing would stop him from being with this boy that he was lost without. He wanted him, he needed him. Smiling, he pulled away and rested their foreheads together, seeing his own emotions reflected in Alex's face.
"I've got my Alex back."
