Chapter Thirty

*Jack pov*

Jack dragged Alex further into the house, pushing him down into the sofa before reconnecting their lips once more. He'd missed this. He'd missed the way his skin would tingle under Alex's touch. He'd missed how his heart would pound in his chest. He'd missed how every bone in his body would ache for more. And now he had those feelings back, he felt right. He felt complete. Alex pushed Jack away slightly at the sound of the door opening, making the younger boy pout and keep their faces close together.
"Who's that?" The brunette boy whispered.
"Only two other people have keys to this house and seeing as one left ten minutes ago, I'm assuming it's my mum." Jack replied with a shrug, attempting to lean back down into Alex's lips. However, the shorter boy moved his hand to the top of Jack's chest, applying just enough pressure to keep their faces apart.
"What about...?" He asked, a frown forming on his face.
"Screw my mum." Jack replied with another shrug. The smile that spread across Alex's face made his heart melt. He was certain that he actually saw worries leave his brown eyes, one by one, as Jack's lips also parted into a grin. Any residue tension between them dissolved away. It felt like they had overcome a barrier, taken another step forward in their journey.
"Jack, honey, I'm home!" Jack's mum called, wandering into the living room. The dark haired boy pushed up on his arms so he could see over the back of the sofa to talk to the women.
"Yeah I know, we heard." He replied with an innocent grin.
"Who's we?" She asked, her face scrunching up as she tried to work it out.
"Alex." Jack told her, nodding his head down at where the brunette was lying, even though she couldn't see him. He chuckled, probably feeling awkward, a noise that made Jack smile. He truly was adorable.
"JACK! Not on the couch!" His mum suddenly yelled, her eyes widening as she stared at her son. Jack laughed, feeling a slight blush crawl onto his cheeks.
"Mum, come on. Look I've still got pants on!" He grinned, lifting one of his legs up, slyly applying a bit of pressure between Alex's legs, making his whimper slightly. Jack grinned, whilst his mum just rolled her eyes and walked out muttering for them to go upstairs. With a smirk down at the brunette lying under him, Jack stood up and grabbed the older boys hand, grabbed the gifts from the table and bounded upstairs.

About an hour later the sky was beginning to turn magical shades of red and pink as the boys slouched around in Jack's room. They were now cuddled up on the bed, the taller on the to lying down with his head in Alex's lap, enjoying the feeling of his fingers running through the dark locks. They'd managed to devour half of the cookie, and Jack has found a long thin vase to put the rose in, and placed it on his bed side table. The room was filled with a comfortable silence, both boys enjoying being together once again.
"Jacky?" Alex murmured, making the taller boy look up to lock their gazes.
"Mhmm?" He responded, smiling at the nickname.
"What are you doing tomorrow?" The brunette asked, bringing his hand down to Jack's face to softly move his fringe off of his forehead. Smiling softly at the gesture, Jack thought about what he was doing tomorrow. He was sure Jenna would end up coming round, and he had promised to see Zack soon but that could wait, he decided.
"Nothing as far as I am aware." He answered, gazing back up at Alex.
"Good. We're going on a date." The brunette announced, a small smile playing on his lips, his cheeks reddening slightly.
"Where we going?" Jack queried, sitting up on his elbows, grinning happily.
"Ah, it's a surprise." Alex teased with a quick raise of his eyebrows. Jack pouted, but knew there was no point pestering him to find out. The older boy had a look of determination in his eyes, silently warning Jack that this would be a surprise whatever he did. The pair ended up just gazing at each other for a few minutes. Jack couldn't wipe a stupid grin off of his face, and he felt like a loser, but he was just over the moon to have Alex back.
"I'm glad you forgave me." The brunette murmured, returning his hands to Jack's hair.
"I'm glad you came back." The dark haired boy responded, moving his hand to link fingers with Alex's other hand. A small, shy smile crept onto the older boys lips, and he moved his head to cover his face with his fringe. Jack smiled at the boys embarrassment. It relaxed him, because it made him certain that Alex felt the same way that he did.
"I'll always come back to you." He then said, lifting his head up again.
"Promise?" Jack said, unknotting their fingers and holding his pinkie up with a serious look on his face. Alex chuckled and shook his head slightly, but lifted his hand up nonetheless and let their pinkies intertwine.
"I promise."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The following morning Jack woke up earlier than normal so he could look his best for this surprise date with Alex. He had showered, and was now stood in his room with a towel round his waist as he tried to decide what to wear. Frowning, he realised he didn't have a clue. Did he need to stay warm? Dress up? Dress down? Normal clothes? Shaking his head and giggling as water droplets flew around the room, the boy wandered further into the room and picked up his phone.
To: Alex
What do I need to wear? X

He typed out a quick text, then retrieved some boxers and socks from the drawer as he waited for the reply.
From Alex:
Normal stuff, make sure you have a jacket we'll be outside :) x

Frowning, trying to work out where they were going, Jack started to sift through his room to find something to wear. He slipped into his black skinny jeans, then found a grey top and slipped it over his head. After straightening his hair to perfection, he slipped on his black zip up blink hoodie, grabbed everything he needed along with his North Face jacket. He plopped down on the sofa, putting on the tv to kill the ten minutes before Alex would knock in and pick him up. Once again, he tried to work out where they were going, but he quickly admitted that he didn't have a clue. He was excited for the date, and ecstatic to be spending more time with Alex once more.
The doorbell rang, and Jack quickly stood up and answered it, smiling down at the brunette. Alex smirked, and motioned for Jack to follow him to the car. Blushing as the older boy opened the car door for him, he clambered into the car. Grinning, he took in the smell and look of the car once more. He'd kind of missed it, in a weird way. The odd smell of tea and oil, the old fashioned radio - which he then started to fiddle with, so he could find what he wanted to listen to. Alex got into the car and smiled warmly when he saw Jack's fingers around the buttons, before starting the car and starting their journey.
"So, where are we going?" The dark haired boy asked, looking over at Alex. The brunette just laughed, keeping his eyes on the road.
"You'll see." He said simply, making Jack whine.
"Aleeeex! How long till we get there?" Jack returned his gaze out the window to see if he could work out where they were going. However, due to his awful sense of direction and bad memory of places, he didn't have a clue.
"Not long. Half an hour, max." Alex shot Jack a grin as they pulled up at traffic lights, to which he responded to by rolling his eyes.
The pair then eased into normal conversation. It felt like they were catching up on things that had happened that the other wouldn't know from anyone else. Jack liked the felling of welcoming the brunette back into his life, and the felling of being back in his. It kind of felt like when you change your order at a restaurant, then go back the next time and order what you used to normally get. Returning to normal. Going back to what felt right. Jack chuckled internally at the metaphor his mind had come up with, before he continued to listen to Alex talk about Oli's new girlfriend. His voice was something he could listen to all day. It made him feel safe. It was a melody in its own special way. Or if was to Jack, at least.

Half an hour later, as Alex had predicted, they pulled onto a gravel road. Leaning forward to read the sign, Jack saw the "Maryland Urban Farm" writing, so he now knew where he was. He grinned widely at Alex and clapped loudly, he loved this place! Jack used to come here as a kid, and hasn't been in years. Alex laughed at his enthusiasm as they turned right into the adjoining the field which was the car park. Once the older boy was happy with a space that wasn't too muddy, they got out and walked back towards the farm gate. The entrance was though the massive red gates, that had cardboard designs of the 'mascot' on (which was an alpaca called Ernie, something Jack had remembered). The taller boy skipped up to the window of the office so they could buy their tickets, telling Alex to hurry up.
"I'm here calm down!" He huffed sarcastically, whilst Jack just grinned and bounced on his toes like a kid. Alex paid and brought some small bags of feed, before allowing himself to be dragged round by Jack. The taller boy happily skipped over to the first pen, always deciding to walk round anti clockwise, to where the sheep were. Jack leaned on the fence and watched them for a while, admiring how they looked like clouds and would daydreamingly wander around chewing whatever it was they were eating. The next pen along had a few large birds tottering around in it. They looked like mini ostriches, but were actually called rheas, and their feathers were grey and fluffy. Jack quickly got bored of them and continued to drag Alex round. They stopped at the ponies, horses, turtles, alpacas, ducks, goats and the peacocks, then they reached some of the inside pens.
Alex took the lead as they entered the wooden building, instantly squealing when his eyes lay on the rabbits in front of him. Jack laughed at how adorable he was, watching as the brunette knelt down to get closer to them. He had taken a fancy to a fluffy golden coloured rabbit, who was sat in the front of the cage. It's small beady back eyes were looking back at Alex, and small squeaking sounds were escaping the small bundle of fluff. After a few minutes, Alex stood back up with bright eyes and a massive grin.
"Look at that bunny!" He exclaimed happily, pointing down at it again.
"I'm looking!" Jack chuckled in reply.
"It's adorable!" The older boy said, bringing his hands to his mouth.
"Just like you hmm?" The tall boy replied, putting one arm around Alex's waist bad pressing a soft kiss into his caramel hair. Smiling as he giggled, he once again admitted how much he liked the shorter boy.
They finished walking around the farm, spending ages marvelling over the owls and staying to watch the display of them flying. Alex had made sure he had taken loads of photos, and when it got too four o'clock they decided it was time to go home. They grabbed a hot chocolate each on the way out, and made their way back to the car.
"Thanks for today." Jack grinned, popping off the lid of his drink when he was comfortable and taking a sip. Alex chuckled, making Jack look up. The brunettes leant across and quickly licked Jack's nose, making the dark haired boy realise he had gotten cream from his drink everywhere. Giggling embarrassingly, he wiped his mouth on his sleeve and tried to hide his blushing face with his fringe. Alex, however, had other ideas. He moved Jack's fringe away from his face, making him look up once more. Leaning forward, they shared a soft, quick kiss, both pulling back with shy smiles on their lips.
"You're welcome. Anything for my Jack."
