Seven

"I'm going to die," I nearly screamed at my Grandmother.
"Unless you deicde to take the oath or accept the gift being a wolf, your body will shut down," she explained again.
"I know for a fact I am not taking that oath," I said.
"Then before the full moon rises tonight, you must accept your fate and become a wolf like Jack," she told me.
"Does Jack know," I asked Uncle Cosmin.
"I told him after dinner last night," he informed me.
"And what did he have to say," I asked him.
"I want you to do what you think is best Mirela. I don't think either myself or Mina could handle you not being around," he said as he appeared in the doorway with Mina in his arms, her head resting in the crook of his neck.

An hour before sunset, Grandmother helped me undress until I was naked. She draped a cloak over my shoulders as she looked at me in through the mirror. I could tell she was not completely sold on her favorite granddaughter accepting the gift of being a wolf. She knew I had to in order to save my life for Mina.
"I am sorry for breaking your heart Grandmother. I wasn't going to every take the oath, even ten years after I refused to. I can better protect my family if I become a wolf too," I was about cry with her. I was letting her down.
"I'm not disappointed in you. I'm proud of you," she corrected me.
"How so," I asked her.
"Lupei is means wolf in Romanian, Mirela. Our family is the oldest hunter clan because we descend from a wolf clan," she told me a part of the history my fathe rnever shared with me.

Grandmother escorted me downstairs to the atrium. Boris and Camelia opened the doors to reveal Jack's black wolf sitting proudly with Mina's white fluff ball beside him, her tail wagging so lively that her body was shaking.
"I have come to serve as witness to the acceptance of Mirela Crina Lupei Barakat to the pack," Grandmother announced to Jack.
"I, Mirela Crina Lupei Barakat, do here by accept the gift of the wolf. I accept this gift with honor and pride for my family and those before me within my pack that have accepted this great gift. I do swear fealty to the pack and do humbly accept the authority of the alpha," I recited the oath for beign a wolf that Jack had taught me.
That's when it hit me like a train. I bent over as I screamed in sheer pain. I felt my bones snapping, one at a time and over and over again. I watched as Mina hid under Jack as she watched me slowly disappear under my cloak.
When it was over, my grandmother removed the cloak from my back. I was revealed at last to Jack and Mina as my majestic grey wolf with bright caramel-hazel eyes. I kept my head bowed to Jack. To be honest, I was nervous about how we was going to react to my new form.
"Welcome to the pack Mir," his eyes glowed bright in a smile to me as he nuzzled me.
"Yea Mommy's like me," Mina shreiked with joy.
"How do I look Jack," I asked him.
"More beautiful than ever, my love," he and I nuzzled again before Grandmother signaled Boris and Camelia to open the doors to the garden to allow us to go for a run into the night.

Notes

Mir's a descendent of the oldest wolf clan in history. Who knew? (I did :P) Now Mir and Jack are going to have a unique situation and Mir will be a unique wolf. You guys will find out soon enough. For now I will be doing a lot of wolf chapters from Jack's point of view on how Mir si handling being a wolf.
