Nothing Personal

Jack--
Today was Friday, and Alex was coming over. I was so stoked throughout the day. I couldn't wait to see him at lunch, and I could hardly sit through the rest of my classes, I was that excited. You could say I had developed a crush on the boy, not that it bothered me any. He was attractive, had style, and overall a fantastic personality, but I've already told you this.
I met up with Alex after school, and I think he could tell I was stoked.
"Hey Jack." Alex said with a smile that made me go weak at the knees. I kept my composure, however, and returned his smile.
"Hey. You ready to come over to mine?" I asked as we walked.
"Yep. What you got planned?" He asked.
"Nothing too exciting, but it'll still be fun." I said.
"Oh yeah? And what's that?" He asked as he adjusted the black beanie atop his head.
"Just a movie and popcorn. Maybe you can spend the night since it's Friday." I suggested, hoping he would say yes.
"Sure. I'll have to ask my mom though." He said, "but I'm sure that'll work."
"Awesome." I said as we approached my car. I unlocked it and we both got in. I started it up and Blink started blasting through the speakers. I turned it down a little, just in case Alex wanted to talk. He looked at me in disbelief.
"How dare you turn Blink down." He said with a scoff as he buckled himself in.
"Fine. I'll turn it back up." I said. I pulled out of the parking lot and we blasted and sung along to All The Small Things. When it ended, I looked at Alex, then back at the road.
"You have a great voice, Lex." I said, the nickname accidentally slipping. Alex looked at me and our eyes met. He blushed.
"You think so?" He asked.
"I know so." I said as I pulled into my driveway next to my mom's car. We both got out and I led Alex inside.
"Make yourself comfortable. Want anything to eat or drink?" I asked as Alex sat on the couch.
"Coke would be nice, thanks." He said with that god damn smile. I nodded and headed into the kitchen where I grabbed a Coke out of the fridge. I walked out into the living room and handed it to him.
"Thank you, sir." He said.
"No problem. Feel free to pick a movie while I make the popcorn." I said. Alex nodded and went over to my stack of movies. I returned to the kitchen and got everything out to make the popcorn.
Once I returned, Alex had already set the movie up and was sitting, sipping from his soda.
"Shit. About time." He said with a playful roll of his eyes. I sat next to him and looked at the screen as Home Alone flashed across.
"Fuck, Lex. You know that this is my favorite movie, right?" I asked.
"Now I do." He said as he helped himself to the popcorn I had sitting on my lap. I pressed play and got comfortable as the movie started. I didn't realize how close Alex and I were until the movie ended, and a blush painted my cheeks.
Oh Alex. What are you doing to me, you perfect little shit.
